Chapter 63

“Buddy, you’ll get the support of Agent Franco Garcia.” I said to Dusty.

“Why does that name sound familiar?”

“He was at the hospital when I was shot and ran point for the FBI when you and JR went to arrest Wanita Jenkins. I think you met him here when we were handling the case.”

I saw Dusty’s eyes roll. “That pain in the ass?”

“Chill out dude. He and I have become friends and he told me a lot that he didn’t have to.”

“Alright Ace, I will for you.”

“Get your team together now Agent Moore.” Ben said handing him a folded piece of paper.”

Dusty took the paper and put it in his jacket then left the room. “Sir, you don’t think the Director will try a show of force; do you?”

“I hope not.” Ben answered softly.

This was bringing back memories of Evelyn when she got visions of grandeur. “Sir, this is bringing back a lot of memories I thought were long behind us.”

“I was too Ace and I’ll not tolerate this from anyone on my staff or in high level positions taking matters into their own hands. They better know the law and damn sight better obey it or they’ll be looking for another job.”

Dusty was in the office talking with Dylan Masters. Dylan’s team was there and they were forming a plan on how to deliver the letter to the Director. Once everyone was keen on it, they loaded up and left for the FBI headquarters. The drive over was a somber one with everyone concentrating on the plan.

When they arrived, everyone got out and into position. Dusty and Dylan entered the building first and was met by a woman behind a very large desk. “May I help you gentlemen?”

Dusty showed her his credentials. “I have a letter to personally deliver to the Director by request of the President.”

“I see,” She started. “The Director is in a meeting at the moment.”

“Ma’am this is of the utmost importance.” Dusty countered.

“Sir,” She started as Dusty pulled out his phone.

“Mr. President, it seems I’m being stonewalled.”

Dusty handed her the phone. All he could hear was, “Yes Sir, Yes Mr. President, right away Sir, I’ll see to this personally.”

She handed Dusty back his phone then he made sure the call was ended. “I tried to tell you.”

“Please come with me gentlemen.” She said as she got up from behind her desk.

They walked down a long hall then came to a row of offices. She stopped at one and knocked on it.

“Enter.” A voice said.

“Sir, there are two gentlemen here to see you.”

She stepped back as he said “Who are they?”

Dusty and Dylan stepped in. “Mr. Simmons, I have this letter for you.” Dusty said handing him the letter from the President.

He opened it and started reading it then he wadded it up. “Like hell I’ll resign.”

“Then sir, you’re fired and we’re to escort you from the premises.”

“You really think you can do it?”

“I don’t want to make a scene but if it comes to that I am prepared to.”

The man started to stand and Dylan was ready, “Nice and easy.”

Simmons raised his hands then Dusty had him turn around then he searched the man removing his weapons. He patted him down and found another inside his waist and one on his ankle. Dusty reached into the man’s jacket and removed his credentials then found his keys. Dusty went around and found the keys that went to the building and his office and removed them. “Now, come with us please.”

Simmons was escorted down the hall and towards the front door. When they reached the lobby, Simmons saw someone at the desk and started shouting, “Garcia, arrest these two men.”

“Agent Garcia, if you value your job, please stay out of this.” Dusty said holding onto Simmons’s arm.

“Garcia, I gave you an order.” Simmons shouted but Franco stood fast.

“I wonder what that was all about.” The woman at the desk asked.

“I think we’re getting a new director.” Franco answered.

“Sir you are not to return to this building or any Justice Department property. If you do, you will be arrested, charged and prosecuted.”

“How am I to get home?” Simmons screamed.

“I can call you a cab if you’d like.”

“Screw you,” Simmons said and started to walk to the back of the building.

“Sir, you’re not authorized to be back there.” Dusty said.

Simmons tried to go through the gate but it had a lock on it and he couldn’t enter.”

He started shaking it causing a number of agents to come out to see what the commotion was. He turned around and saw them. “Someone open this gate.”

An agent stepped forward. “Sir, you are not authorized to be here, I’m going to have to ask you to leave the property.”

He pulled out his phone then I saw a hand reach out and take it. “Sir, this is property of the FBI.”

“How the hell can I call a cab?”

Franco took his phone out and made the call. “A cab is on the way Sir. Now, if you’ll wait on the street.”

Simmons stormed off then Dusty and Dylan headed over to Franco. “Are you Franco Garcia?”

“I am and you must be Dusty Moore.”

“That I am,” Dusty said shaking Franco’s hand.

“How is Ace?” Franco asked.

“He’ll be a lot better now that this is done.”

“I bet he will be.” Franco added. “I tried to tell the Director but he refused to listen to me. I had to back off or else lose my job.”

“I’m glad you did.” Dusty said. “Ace thinks very highly of you.”

Franco started laughing. “You’d have never thought that when we first met.”

“I remember, he’d just been shot and knocked out. He wasn’t in the best of moods.”

“Would you mind if I returned with you so I could talk to Ace?”

“As long as you’re not going to try to remove him from the grounds,” Dusty replied.

Franco raised his hands. “Not me Dusty.”

“I’ll call ahead for you.” Dusty said. “Do you need a ride?”

“No, I have a vehicle.” Franco answered.

Everyone had just finished lunch when my cell rang. “Mason.”

“Ace, we’re on our way back.” Dusty said to me.

“How did it go?” I asked

“Not bad.” He replied. “He tried to show his ass but it got him nowhere.”

“He went peacefully?” I asked as Ben looked up then I put the call on speaker as we headed towards his office.

“Dylan had to draw on him but other than that, he gave us no problems.”

“Dusty,” Ben called out.

“Yes Mr. President?” Dusty replied.

“Did you get his weapon and credentials?”

“Yes Sir, I also got his keys so he couldn’t re-enter the building.”

“Good thinking,” Ben said. “Thank you.”

“Ace, Franco is behind us. He would like to talk with you.”

“I look forward to it. How soon will you be here?”

“Give us five minutes.”

I ended the call and felt a weight come off my shoulders. “Would you like to be present when Franco and I talk?”

Ben nodded his head. “Maybe he will know what’s going on that no one would tell me.”

“Where would you like this meeting?” I asked.

“We can use the dining room.” Ben answered.

“What about Cal?” I asked.

“What about him, he’s a federal judge.” Ben said.

We got up and headed for the dining room and Tonka was waiting patiently by the elevator so I decided to take him out. While he was doing his business, Dusty and Dylan returned to the residence.

Tonka did his thing then came running over when he saw Dusty. I saw a black charger next to the hummer I didn’t know. A man stepped out and looked at Dylan and Dusty. I saw who it was then and Franco came over to us. Tonka had to officially welcome him to the grounds. “Holy shit Ace, what’s that?”

“Franco, this is Tonka. He’s Bennie’s dog and a SS K9. He can apprehend suspects as well as find drugs.” I answered.”

Franco was frozen to his spot. Tonka sent over and sniffed him than sat and raised his paw. Franco eased his hand out and shook it then Tonka gave him a lick on his cheek. “Do I pass?” He asked.

“He’s still wagging his tail so I guess you do. Come on Franco, we’re expected in the dining room.”

I led the way as we took the elevator to the residence. When we got to the dining room, I made the introductions. Ben and Cal were sitting in there waiting on us. I fixed myself and Franco a couple cups of coffee then we took a seat. “Agent Franco, do you think you could tell me why the FBI was investigating Judge Morris?”

“Sir, I don’t know everything but I can tell you what I do know.”

“Please, go ahead.” Ben said.

“Well, the director had been going over some of his old cases and one that caught his eye was CA vs. Masterson.”

“What, that case is ancient history. Ben said.

“Yes, we know. We also know you were the lead defense attorney of record. What caught the director’s eye was that your client was cleared of the charges.”

“He damn sight was innocent. We had ten of the best Private Investigators in the state on it. The State didn’t have a case so I don’t know how it managed to make it to trial.”

“Your client was charged with possession with the intent to distribute and trafficking.”

“Those drugs had been planted on him and that was proven in court.”

“Well the director was looking at Morris for taking a bribe.”

“That’s a load of bullshit. Morris was as straight as they came.”

“Then why did he hold that appeal hearing on Judge Stein’s arraignment?”

“No one will ever know.” Ben said.

“Well, there is one way we just might.” Franco said.

“How’s that?” Cal asked.

“If we could look into his finances,” Franco started.

“Do you have solid evidence he was on the take?” Cal asked.

Franco closed his eyes then shook his head. “No, we do not.”

“Then I couldn’t in good conscience give you a warrant.”

I saw Franco shake his head. “Man that would clinch it.”

“Look bud, if you can convince Judge Matthews here you have enough evidence, he’ll give you your warrant. But you will need to have all your ducks in a row.” I said as I went over to Ben. “Sir, if you don’t have anything else, I’m going to get packing. Do you have our cruise documents?”

He nodded his head. “I do, they’re safe and sound in my safe in here.”

“You know it’s gonna start tomorrow don’t you?” I asked.

“What do you mean?”

“When I get Bennie packing, because we leave the day after tomorrow, he’ll start asking where are we going?”

“That’s fine; you can tell him you’re going on a cruise.”

“Alright,” I said unsure of his idea. “If you find him hog tied, you’ll know he got out of hand.”

Ben started laughing. “Just don’t hurt him.”

“Nah,” I started. “I can’t do that to him. I have to spend a week alone with him and I don’t want to be in the dog house. And besides, his black belt can kick my red belt ass any day!”

Ben went over to the wall and opened the hidden safe. “Here you go Ace, you still have those letters I did for you, right?

“Yes Sir, they’re in my wardrobe. I’ll put those in this envelope.”

“Have you confirmed with the Baltimore office that they’ll be here on time?”

“I need to do that so I better call them now,” I answered as I headed to my room.

I pulled out my suitcase then started packing. I had underwear, tee shirts, shorts and socks. I also got out a hanging garment bag for a suit and my tux. One night was slated as semi-formal and one was formal. I would rent Bennie a tux since he doesn’t own one. I found the letters giving me total permission to be with Bennie on the cruise without Ben.

Once I was packed, I called the Baltimore office. I spoke with the agent in charge and he assured me his men would be at the residence on time so we could be at the pier at 12:30 for boarding.

I just hoped I could get Bennie packed as easy as I did. Now that my work was done, I decided to look for Bennie and the boys. “Johnny, where are you?”

It took him a minute to answer. “On, the roof, the boys are swimming.”

“Thanks, I’m on my way up.” I answered.

As soon as I was seen, I was attacked by the little ones. “Uncle Ace, Uncle Ace.” Timmy and Billy said in unison as they ran over to me.

“It feels weird to swim in these.”

They were wearing some board shorts and they looked perfect in them. Billy’s were hanging halfway down his butt so I tightened them up a little. I was now soaked from their wet trunks and bodies. “Do you have undies on?” I asked.

They shook their head. “No, these have a thingy in them so we don’t need them,” Timmy replied.

That ruined that idea so I set the boys down and tied Billy’s trunks a little tighter so his bare behind wasn’t hanging out. He gave me a big wet kiss on my cheek. “Thanks, Uncle Ace,” Billy said as they scampered back towards the pool.

I heard a loud splash then saw someone’s shorts on the bottom of the pool. “Timmy, you lost something.” Carl said to his brother.

Timmy dove down then put them back on. “The string came untied. Uncle Ace, can you help?”

I helped him out of the pool then retied them. I got another wet hug and kiss. I decided to go and change then join them for a swim. As soon as I jumped in, I was mobbed. Carl and Jake got me in a group hug. “Ace can you tell us why we had to come here?”

“When little ears aren’t around, I will son.” I answered.

I was about to take a dive when, “Ace, phone.”

I went over to Johnny and took his phone. “Mason.”

“Ace, are the boys with you?” Cal asked.

“Yes, we’re in the pool.” I answered.

“Can you get them dressed please; we’d like to return to our own home.”

“Alight Cal, I’ll get them showered and dressed.”

“Thanks buddy.” Cal said then ended the call.

“Come on boys, your dad wants you to get a shower and dressed. He’s ready to go home.”

“Aww, do we have to?” Billy whined.

“Yes you do boys; I can’t over rule your dad.”

“OH, alright,” Timmy said as he helped his brother out of the pool and started to get dried.

Johnny and I escorted everyone to the residence then helped the little ones in the shower. “Uncle Ace, are you going to shower with us?” Timmy asked.

I nodded my head as he started jumping up and down. “Come on boys, get into the shower.”

Have you ever had two boys on your hips when you’re wanting to give them a shower? It’s not an easy task. I put them down and started washing Timmy. As soon as I hit his stomach, he started giggling. I quickly got that done then finished the rest of his body. Once Timmy was done, I got him a towel then did Billy. After he was done, I got cleaned then managed to get dry. Once we were dressed, I heard a knock on the door. “Come in.”

The door opened and there was Ben and Cal. The boys swarmed Cal. “Are you ready to go home boys?” Cal asked.

“Aww, daddy.” The boys whined.

“Look, you can come back,” Ben said taking Billy from Cal.

“We really like visiting Uncle Ace here,” Billy said reaching for me.

I took the imp and was quickly hugged. We managed to get the boys ready to go then I went over to Bennie’s room. Jake and Carl were standing there talking and I managed to get them out with Cal and Judy. When the boys were at the elevator, I had to give a lot of hugs. It was hard saying goodbye but I knew that come Friday, Bennie and I would be leaving for vacation.

When I gave Carl a hug I told him to talk to his dad in private. He told me he would then gave me a kiss on the cheek. When I turned around, Bennie wrapped me into his arms. “Man, I miss Timmy and Billy.”

“Does someone want to be a father one day?” I asked.

He lit up. “You bet Ace. I think we’d make great parents.”

“You don’t think we’d catch grief?”

“Nope, we’d be with the Service.”

I kissed his nose. “Don’t get cocky now.”

“Who me?” He asked. “Never.”

“OK super dad, come on and let’s get some work out of the way.”

“Huh, what work?” Bennie asks as I checked the time.

“Well, we better get into the dining room or Gloria will have our hides.”

“OK, but what are you talking about?”

Before I could answer, Ben came in and sat down. “Ace, tell me please.” Bennie pleaded.

Ben looked at me. “Did someone spill the beans a little early?”

“I didn’t realize what time it was. I was going to get Bennie’s bags packed.”

“My bags packed?” Bennie asked. “Where am I going?”

A wicked thought came through my mind but I decided not to be mean. “You’ll find out in due time.”

“Ace, you’re mean,” Bennie whined then the door opened and Gloria came in with dinner. “Gloria, don’t give Ace anything to eat tonight, he’s being mean to me.”

“He’s being mean to my mijo?” Gloria asked looking at me.

“Yes, he won’t tell me where I’m going.”

“I guess he knows you, you’d be so excited you’d be acting like my little mijo.”

“Gloria, no I wouldn’t.”

“Look at you now son.” Ben added. “You’re acting like you did then first time we went on vacation when you were about six years old.”

Bennie sat back in his chair and gave up because he knew nothing would be said over dinner. We ate another of Gloria’s feasts then Bennie was ready to go back to his room. Ben smiled at me and nodded his head so I let Bennie lead me towards his bedroom. “OK Ace, what gives?”

I remembered where Bennie kept his suitcase. “Get your suitcase out and I’ll explain.”

Bennie quickly had it out. “OK so tell me.”

“Well, you and I are going on a cruise.”

He jumped into my arms and it was a good thing I was ready for it. “Easy tiger or I’ll be going there in traction.”

“Where are we going?”

“Baltimore.” I said.

He punched me on the shoulder. “Not funny. I mean where are we cruising to?

“How does Bermuda sound?”

“It sounds like fun. What is our cabin like?”

“It’s a tin can. It’s so small we need a shoehorn to move around in it.”

“Ace, be serious.”

“Alright baby, it’s a nice outside cabin.”

“Outside? You mean we sleep outside?

“No silly, it has a balcony that we can sit on and watch everything.”

“Oh, do you think there will be some hot guys on it?”

“What’s wrong, I’m not good enough anymore?”

Bennie came up and wrapped his arms around me then gave me a passionate kiss. “You know that’s not true, you’re the one that I want now and forever.”

I returned the kiss then caressed his back as he tried to grind his crotch into mine. “Easy baby, we have work to do. Now what do you plan on bringing?”

“How long will we be on the cruise?”

“We’ll be gone a week. Now, you’ll need a suit and I’ll be renting you a tux.”

“Aww Ace, we’re supposed to be on vacation.”

“I know but on cruises, they have several nights that are setup as casual, semi-formal or formal.”

“Alright, I guess I have to go along with it.”

“Baby, you look hot dressed up. I remember when we were at the inaugural ball; you were a sight to behold”

“Really? Will you take me back to the cabin and ravage me?”

I wiggled my eyebrows. “Ummm, anytime lover boy.”

Bennie went into his wardrobe and took out his suit. “I think I better try this on.”

“Good idea, you have grown a little since your last wore it.”

Bennie took his shorts off then put the slacks on. “Uh, Ace, we have a problem.”

I looked and his ankles were showing and he couldn’t get them closed around his waist. “Yeah, I’ll ask your dad if there is a tailor here.”

I went out and found Ben in the living room. “Excuse me Sir.”

“Yes Ace, what is it?”

“Well, it seems Bennie’s out grown his suit. Is there a tailor on staff?”

“Yes there is; I can call him in the morning. What needs to be done?”

He needs the hem lowered and it let out in the waist.”

“That should be an easy fix for him.” Ben answered.

“Thanks, if not, I’ll rent him a suit on board.”

“Do you think he’ll need it?” Ben asked.

“Yes sir, they have a formal night at dinner.”

“Oh, well be sure to get me some photos of you both.”

“Yes Sir, I will want photos for me too.”

I went back to Bennie’s room and he was busy packing. “Good lord love, how much are you bringing?”

“Just enough for a week.” He answered.

He had two large bags filled to overflowing. “How many times do you plan on changing?”

“I don’t know but I don’t want to run out of clothes.”

“I guess you won’t be getting any souvenirs then.” I said.

“What’s that supposed to mean?”

“Where will you put them?”

“Ah,” Bennie started. “I guess I need some room.”

“I guess you do love.”

Bennie almost emptied the second bag then I went through the first bag he’s packed. I took out what he didn’t need then put some of it into the second bag. “There you go, now there is room for gifts. Don’t forget, we need gifts for the guys, your dad and Gloria.”

“I hope they have good food.” Bennie said.

“Don’t worry love; I don’t think you’ll be hungry. They have enough food to feed an army.”

“Oh, what do they have?” He asked.

“They have several buffets on the different decks, an ice cream bar plus sit down meals in the dining room.”

“Are the meals scheduled?”

“Yes, they have two seatings. I don’t remember which one I got for us. I think I got the one close to the times we eat here.”

“I think I’ll survive.” Bennie said with a smile. How will we get to the ship?”

“I have that covered,” I said not giving away anything more.

I looked at the clock and it was 10:30. We’d been at it for several hours. “Oh, your dad will have the tailor here tomorrow to alter your suit. Now, you can’t go commando in it.”

“Phooy.” He said sticking his tongue out.

“If you want the tailor to see your goodies, then you can.”

“Uh, I’ll wear my underwear.” He said after he turned several shades of red. “Will you need your special holster?”

“Good thought.” I said then went over to my room and put it in my suitcase. While I was in there, I made sure my fanny pack was sitting out so I wouldn’t forget it. I was getting tired so I went back to Bennie’s room and got comfortable. Bennie was already in bed so I stripped and joined him. I went to snuggle with my baby but he was out cold so I cuddled with him and fell asleep.

Down in Ben’s room, Chris was coming down from an orgasmic high after Ben rode his ass like a thoroughbred stallion. “God baby, for someone who never had gay sex before, you sure know how to please a guy.”

Ben kissed Chris passionately. “Love, you forget I’m not a novice when it comes to sex.”

Chris smiled. “Yeah, I guess you’re right. Your wife much have been kept very satisfied.”

“I never had any complaints.” Ben said with a giggle.

Chris yawned then cuddled into Ben’s arms and they drifted off to sleep.

“The next morning, I was rudely awakened.

<HONK, HONK, HONK>

Bennie shot up. “What’s that baby?”

I grabbed my phone. “Mason.”

“Ace, it’s Dusty; we have a shooting by the back gate. I’ve put the residence on lockdown.”

“Man, I don’t need this now. What happened?”

“I’m on my way out to the gate to find out.”

“Have uniforms secure the crime scene and interview any witnesses.”

“Already done,” Dusty replied.

“Alright, keep me informed and call Sergio and Dizzy.”

I ended the call. “There was a shooting by the back gate. Right now, the residence is on lockdown.”

“What happened?” Bennie asked.

“I don’t know yet, Dusty is heading out to find out.”

“Man, this sucks. I’m not giving up my vacation.”

“Don’t worry baby, that won’t happen.” I said giving him a kiss then heading to the bathroom.

When I finished my business, I started the shower. As soon as Bennie heard the water, he was at the toilet. I stepped into the warm water and let it clear the morning cobwebs. Because of what was going on, I quickly got washed then dried and dressed. I had just put my weapon on my belt when my phone rang again. “Mason.”

“Ace, here is what’s going on. A man shot two young females and they are dead. Uniforms had the man surrounded but he is claiming to be a diplomat.”

“Search him, he should have diplomatic identification on him. Where is he from?”

“Russia,” Dusty replied.

“Oh shit,” I replied as Dusty interrupted.

“Can you get out here?”

“Alright, I’m on my way.”

I went out to the dining room then heard the elevator doors open. “Ace.”

I motioned for him to come on then got myself a cup of coffee. “Yes Johnny, I’ve already been briefed. Call Dusty and have him run things from up here. I need him to stay with the President and Chris. Also, have JR come too. I would like you to stay with Bennie.”

“Alright, I’ve already taken Tonka out so he’s been taken care of.”

“Good,” I said as I finished my coffee. “I’m needed outside. I have my Bluetooth with me and I’ll be on that so you can communicate with me.”

“Alright buddy, be careful.” Johnny said as I headed for the elevator.

I rode down then hurried to my car. When I got to the gate, there was a commotion outside. I had the guard open the employee gate so I could go out.

Uniforms were trying to talk to the shooter but he wasn’t being cooperative. “I’m Russian diplomat, I have immunity.”

I trotted over. “If you’re a diplomat then show us your credentials.”

“I show you nothing.”

“Why did you shoot two innocent women?”

“Fucking queers, they deserve to die.”

“And you know this how?”

“They walk down street holding hands and kissing each other.”

“That doesn’t mean anything.”

“Agent Mason,” A uniformed officer said as he handed me two driver’s licenses.

I looked at them and got madder. “You fucking idiot. They happened to be mother and daughter. NOW SHOW ME YOUR CREDENTIALS.”

“FUCK YOU,” He said then he pushed me in the chest and managed to get his weapon. “DIE.”

Just then, the man went down in a heap as I heard a gunshot. “HOLD YOUR FIRE.” I shouted. “HOW COME HE WASN’T SEARCHED AND HIS WEAPON SECURED?

“Dusty,” I called out.

“I’m here Ace.” He replied.

“Get Capt. Langford out here right away.”

“I’m on it now.”

You might want to put a call into Ed too.”

“He’s not going to like this.”

“Right now, that’s not my worry. The sniper on the roof saved my bacon, just don’t let Bennie know this.”

“Alright buddy, my lips to him are sealed.”

As the adrenalin left my body, my legs started to shake. Just then I felt hands grab me and guide me towards the fence. “Sit down Agent Mason.”

“Ace, are you alright?” Dusty shouted to me.

“Yeah, just a little shaken up.” I answered.

“Have you taken your medication?”

“No, bring it out to me also a bottle of water.”

“I’m on my way.”

Dusty went to Bennie and had him get my blood pressure medication. I was still sitting against the fence when I felt a soft tap on my shoulder. “Huh?” I said turning around to see was tapping me.

“Here you go buddy.”

Dusty handed me my pills then handed me the water. I took my medicine then washed it down with the water. “Thanks man.”

“How are you feeling?”

I wiggled my feet then got up onto my knees. I felt pretty good then decided to go for the gusto and stand up. I turned around and faced the fence then held on and started to stand. When I had my feet under me I let go of the fence then prayed I didn’t kiss the ground. “That went well.”

“How do you feel?”

“Not bad,” I answered honestly.

“Now, can you tell me what happened?”

“Well, from what I can surmise, a uniformed officer failed to get the shooter’s weapon and clear it and get it secured. He managed to get it and take aim at me at which time, the sniper on the roof, took him out.”

“Did he ever show you his credentials?”

I shook my head. “That he never did.”

“Someone needs to do that.”

“I can’t yet. Did you notify the medical examiner?”

“Yes I did. He should be here any minute.”

I reached into my pocket and was about to call Sergio when I saw a black and white oversize van with blue lights heading our way. The van parked in front of the scene then got out. “Hello my boy,” Sergio said in his chipper voice.

“He’s all yours Sergio. We need to search him as soon as possible.”

Sergio went into the back of the van and brought out some of his equipment and blankets to cover the bodies. He covered the women then went over to the Russian. “Well, I can tell you with almost total certainty the cause of his demise was a bullet to the head.”

I had to giggle then replied, “Thanks for that information, I don’t think I could have figured that out on my own. Can you search his pockets?”

Sergio looked in his trouser’s pockets. He removed a small amount of cash and change then rolled him onto his side so he could check his back pockets. “Well, well what have we here?” Sergio said as he removed what appeared to be a passport. “This is a regular passport used for travel abroad.”

“Is he a diplomat?” I asked.

“No, diplomatic passports have a green cover.”

“So he was trying to give us a line of bull.” I said feeling a little better that we hadn’t shot a Russian diplomat.

“Thanks bud, he’s all yours.” I said as I looked at Dusty who nodded his head in agreement.”

Dr. Valez, can you get us his finger prints too so we can do a background check on him? Dusty asked.

“I’ll be glad to Dusty.” Sergio replied as a stretcher and body bags were brought out.

I saw the guard at the gate talking to Capt. Langford. Dusty had released the lockdown then the captain came through the employee’s entrance. He gathered the uniform officers who were at the scene at the time of the shooting.

Inside Captain Langford’s office, he was interviewing the four uniformed officers. It seemed none of the officers wanted to man up then the captain told them their careers depended on telling the truth. A rookie stepped up and told the captain what happened. He looked at the senior officers and he could tell he wasn’t happy. “Why didn’t anyone of you secure that man’s weapon?”

“Well Sir, he was claiming to be a diplomat.”

“So that means any crazy person who claims to be a diplomat can run around the city and shoot people at will?” Langford asked.

The senior officer looked at the man. “No Sir but diplomats pretty much have Carte Blanche.”

“Like hell they do. If they think they’re getting away with it, they have another think coming. I’ll see to it they’re shipped home and never allowed back into this country.”

“So what should we have done?”

“Treat him like any other suspect. Cuff him and search him for any other weapons and secure the one he used to kill two innocent women.”

One of the officers was about to speak when there was a knock on the door. The captain got up to see who it was. “Come in Director Miller.”

“Can you tell me what happened out there?”

Captain Langford explained what happened and Ed was not pleased at how his experienced uniformed officers acted. “Thank you Captain.” Ed said looking at the men. “You failed to live up to the standards of the Secret Service and that almost cost an agent his life. I don’t give a shit what a person says. If he is a suspect then treat him like one and secure him.”

“But Sir,” An officer said.

“But what Officer Green?”

“He claimed to be a diplomat.”

“Had you ascertained that to be fact” Ed asked.

“No Sir, we hadn’t.”

“You all messed up big time and it was only that the sniper on the roof was following what was going on so he could protect Agent Mason.” The men looked down to the floor and said nothing. “I’ll expect your reports by the end of the day. You each will get a seven day suspension without pay.”

“But Sir,” Officer Green said.

“Just be glad this isn’t costing you your jobs.

Green sat down and stayed quiet. “I wasn’t sure how to discipline them.” Capt. Langford said.

I saw the video feed from the camera here and I was hoping they’d have cuffed him.”

Ed got up and shook the Captain’s hand then left the office.

I had returned to the residence when Bennie wrapped me in his arms. “Are you alright love?”

“I’m fine baby.” I answered.

“How come Dusty needed to get your medicine?”

“I started feeling a little funny so I sat down and had him get it for me.”

“Baby, you have to take care of yourself.” Bennie admonished.

“Yes love, everything hit the fan at one time and I hadn’t taken them yet.”

“Just don’t forget to pack them.” Bennie said handing them to me.

I went across the hall and put them in my carry-on bag. Before I put them in there, I counted them to make sure I had enough for the cruise. Since I did I wasn’t worried. I looked at the label and Dr. Phillips had given me 60 of each.

Down in the Oval Office, Ben was reading the reports of the shooting. Out at the back gate a black limo pulled up flying Russian flags. “I would like to see the President please.” The man in the back seat said.

“May I see some identification please?” The guard asked.

The man handed him his credentials. He called the oval office. “Fred, we have a Mr. Demetri Koloff here and he would like to see the President.”

“Hold on and I’ll see if he’s free.” Fred replied.

“Hey what is the hold up?” The ambassador shouted?

“Sir, you don’t have an appointment and I need to find out if the President can see you.”

“The President said to let him in. He can give him a few minutes.”

“Thanks Fred,” The guard replied.

The guard stepped back then started to open the gate. The guard went inside then waited for the limo. The driver rolled through then stopped so he could get his boss’s credentials. Once he retrieved them, he continued around to the West Wing. As soon as the limo pulled up, Dusty and Dylan were there to escort the Ambassador to the Oval Office. When the engine stopped, Dusty opened the back door for the ambassador. “Good morning Mr. Ambassador.”

“Da, da, out of my way,” Koloff said as he tried to get past Dusty.

“Sir, you need to be escorted. Please don’t force your way in.”

The ambassador was already in a bad mood after the morning shooting. “I am ambassador, I no need escort.”

“You have to follow our rules. I know you don’t let people walk around your embassy without an escort.”

The man stopped and loudly exhaled. “Fine, let’s go.”

“Please come with me.” Dusty said as he led the man to the Oval Office. It took them a couple of minutes to make their way around to the office. When Dusty and the ambassador entered the office, the ambassador kept heading for Ben’s door. “Sir, you can’t go in.”

“What is this, some kind of a joke?” the Russian tossed back.

“Please, let his secretary let the President know you are here.”

“Fine, make it quick,” the ambassador snapped.

Fred went to the phone. “Sir, the Russian ambassador is here.”

“Please show him in,” The president replied.

“Dusty, please take the ambassador into the President’s office.”

Dusty stood. “Please come with me Mr. Ambassador.”

Dusty went to the door and knocked. “Enter.”

Dusty opened the door and Ben was standing behind his desk waiting for the ambassador. As soon as he came in, he tried to close the door on Dusty but Dusty moved inside. “Good morning Ambassador Koloff, what can I do for you?”

“By your leave; Mr. President,” Dusty said as he stepped out and closed the door behind him.

The ambassador waited then answered Ben. “You can give me the man that murdered a Russian citizen.”

“You know that won’t happen, Demetri.” Ben answered.

“So you protect murders in this country?” The Russian retorted.

“It was your citizen who murdered two innocent American women.”

“Says you,” Demetri countered.

“Says the live footage,” Ben shot back.

“I’m sure it’s totally the truth.”

Ben brought the footage up on his computer. “Fine then,” Ben said as he turned the computer around then joined the ambassador. “We can watch it together.”

When Ben was ready, he started the feed. They stood and watched as Ben narrated. “As you can see, people are walking along the street.

A few minutes passed then Ben continued. “Now you see two women heading towards us followed by your citizen.”

“Those women are holding hand and kissing. You allow this here?”

“It is illegal in Russia for a mother and daughter to show affection?”

“Neit, but they no do it in public,” Demetri replied.

“Why not?” Ben asked.

“It wrong,” Demetri said.

Ben shook his head as he started the video playing. They watched then Ben paused the feed. “Look at your so called citizen. He has a gun in his hand.”

Ben started the video playing. The ambassador watched as the Russian shot and killed the two women. “So is this how your citizens act in someone else’s country?” Ben asked.

“Neit, he would have been punished most severely.”

“Now, sit down and watch what he does.” Ben said as he took the video off pause. The video started playing again. Demetri watched as the uniformed agents arrived and tried to get him to surrender but didn’t instead started shouting wildly that he was a diplomat and he had immunity. “That man no diplomat.” Demetri said firmly. “That man criminal.”

“What do you mean, he’s a criminal,” Ben asked totally pissed.

“That man named Sergi Gozden, he serve twenty years in Siberian prison.”

“For what?” Ben asked.

“Murder, he killed his parents and many others until we could catch him.”

“And you people let him have a passport? Ban asked.

“Neit,” That wasn’t supposed to happen. Heads will roll for this.”

“So do you still think we murdered a Russian citizen?”

“Need to see rest of this.”

Ben started the video again. They watched as I arrived and tried to get the man to surrender. Demetri watched as the man pushed me back then grab his weapon and point it at me. When he heard the man say DIE Demetri gasped then watched as the man was taken out and slump to the ground. “Who shoot him?”

“A sniper.” Ben answered.

“Another criminal?” Demetri asked.

“No, a Secret Service Agent.” Ben answered.

“Where was he?” Demetri asked.

“I can’t tell you that but we call it the crow’s nest.”

“What crow’s nest?”

“It’s a place high up so that they can see the whole property.”

“He must be very good shot.”

“He is, that’s why he’s in that position,” Ben followed. “So do you still say he was murdered?”

“Neit,” Demetri started. “Your sniper saved that agent’s ass. Sergi wouldn’t have thought twice about killing him.”

“Do you want his body so he can be buried?”

“Da, we claim him. Where is he now?”

“He’s with our Medical Examiner,” Ben said. “We can notify you when the body is ready.”

“Thank you, President Jacobs. You have been very open with me today.”

“We have nothing to hide, Ambassador Koloff,” Ben said cutting the video off then shaking the ambassador’s hand.

Ben went around to his side of his desk then pushed a hidden buzzer letting the agents out in the hall know a guest was leaving. Dusty returned to the Oval Office and escorted the ambassador to the door where his limo driver was sitting. “Did your meeting go well?” Dusty asked.

“Da, it went very well. My apologies to those women who were shot.”

“Thank you,” Dusty said as they arrived in the sitting room. His driver was finishing a cup of coffee as the ambassador stopped and waited for his driver to get up. Dusty took his coffee cup as Dylan walked the two men to the door. Dusty quickly joined them and held the back door for the Ambassador. Once he closed the door, the driver started the engine and headed towards the back gate.

Upstairs I was on the phone with Ben. He was telling me about his meeting with the ambassador. “All in all Sir, I’d say it went well after he saw the video.”

“Yes it did but I wonder what footage the news will show. If they just show just the killer going down, it will appear as if he was executed.”

“Yes Sir, I have to agree and we don’t need that kind of publicity.” I replied. “You might need to talk to the press corps so the truth is disseminated.”

It was a little after 11 and I was really hungry as the shooting caused me to miss breakfast. I wasn’t about to miss lunch. At 11:30 Bennie and I got washed up then headed to the dining room. Gloria was setting the table when we went in. “Ah Señor Ace, I know you are really hungry so I have a little snack for you.”

“Thank you Gloria, I’m really starved.” I answered.

She went into the kitchen and returned with a bowl of beef and barley soup. I wanted to dig in but I could see the steam on it so I had to let it cool down some. Once it was, I dug in. That managed to fill the vacant space in my stomach. Ben came in as I had finished the soup. “Couldn’t you wait for the rest of us?”

“I’m sorry Sir, I missed breakfast because of the shooting and Gloria brought me a little appetizer.”

“Come on Dad, Ace was hungry.” Bennie said as he came to my rescue.

Ben reached over and patted my hand. “Relax Ace, I was just picking.”

“How are you doing; I saw you sitting against the fence.”

“I’m fine Sir. I need to remember to take my medication as soon as I get up.”

“Maybe you should keep a glass of water on your night stand?”

“That is a good idea. I’ll start doing that. My medicine is on the stand also so then I’ll be able to take it.”

“What happened out there baby?” Bennie asked.

I gave him a watered down version so he wouldn’t know I was almost shot. Bennie gave me one of his looks then kissed me on the cheek. “You need to get away for a while.”

“I’m looking forward to this vacation just as much as you are love.” I answered.

Gloria brought in more of the beef and barley soup along with a mountain of sandwiches. We ate our fill then my cell rang. “Mason.”

“Ace, it’s Bob Brinkman.”

“Hey buddy, what’s up?” I asked.

“We have a situation.”

‘Oh no; now what?’ I thought.

“What is it?”

“Dispatch received a 911 call from a teen claiming he was just raped.”

“So what is the problem?” I asked.

“Well, the address the call came from is the Russian Embassy.”

I swallowed hard. “Bob, I’m going to put this call on speaker.”

“Alright.” He said.

Before I did, I told Ben what I knew so far then put the call on speaker.

“Lt. Brinkman, this is President Jacobs.”

“Hello Mr. President.”

“Has anyone ascertained the validity of the call?”

“What do you mean Sir?” Bob asked.

“Did anyone call the teen back and speak to him?”

“I don’t know Sir, I haven’t.”

I looked at Ben. “Should I try, Sir?”

He nodded his head. “Bob, do you have the call back number?”

“Hold on, I have it here.”

Bob gave me the number so I went down to my room to get my other cell phone. I found it then trotted back to the dining room. I dialed the number and heard it ring several times. “Hello,” A voice answered in perfect English.

“This is Special Agent Mason with the United States Secret Service, did someone call 911?”

“Yes, I did.” The voice answered.

“Can you tell me your name?” I asked.

“Yes, my name is Yuri.”

“Alright Yuri, can you tell me what happened?”

“Yes, I was raped.”

“Do you know who raped you?” I asked.

“Yes, it was Nakita Popov, but getting someone to believe me will be next to impossible.” Yuri answered.

I could believe that. “Can you tell me about what time this happened?”

“It happened about ninety minutes ago. Nakita said if I told anyone, he would come back and do it again and this time he wouldn’t stop no matter what.”

Ben was talking to Bob then he tapped my hand. “Ace, we can’t go on the Embassy grounds unless we’re invited. I know this sounds terrible but that is considered Russian soil. The only way we could intervene is if the boy was outside the embassy on the city street.”

“Yuri, can you get off the embassy grounds?”

“Yes, I have a remote key and I can unlock the gate but those guards won’t like me trying to leave. Can you help me please?”

The boy was being stoic through this and not losing his composure. “Yes son, we’ll help you.”

“Good, bring plenty of people.”

“I will son.” I started. “Keep your phone with you in case I have to call you back.”

“Yes Sir and thank you.”

I ended the call. “Man this is a touchy situation.”

“If he comes off the property, how can we get him checked out to see how bad he’s been injured?” I asked not knowing what to do. “The last thing I want is to start an international incident.”

“I know Ace, if push comes to shove, the Russian Ambassador might allow it.”

“Might?” I asked.

“Yes, they have a physician on the premises and he could examine the boy.”

“The question is would he tell the Ambassador the truth and would he believe his secretary committed the act.”

“That is the problem. Russia’s stance on homosexuality is not that great and they could easily disbelieve the boy.”

So if he asks, can we get him to a hospital?”

“Only if he asks,” Ben said.

“We might need the state department in this.”

Ben thought for a minute. “What are you thinking?”

“What if he asks for asylum?” I asked.

“Yes, that would be a matter for them.”

I got up and headed for my room to get my weapon then it was out to the Hummer to meet up with Bob. On my way to my car I talked with Dylan and had him get his team together and meet me at the Russian Embassy. It took me about fifteen minutes to get over to Embassy Row due to the traffic. I remembered the address so I stopped a few places down from it then called Yuri back. “Hello.”

I could tell he was upset. “Yuri, this is Agent Mason.”

“What is it?” He asked.

“Are you alright?” I asked.

“Yeah, I’m fine.”

“Good, I’m up the street from the Embassy and I have a team of agents here with me. Are you ready?”

“I … I don’t think I can,” He stuttered.

“Did someone hurt you again?”

“No but the Ambassador’s Secretary came into my room after lunch and shoved his hands down my pants again and told he’d be back tonight.”

“Yuri, I have to ask you a question and it might be uncomfortable for you to answer.”

“What is it?” Yuri answered.

“Did he wear a condom when he did that to you?”

“No, he just did it. He didn’t even use lube.”

I was worried that he could be ripped bad so I had to get him out of there somehow. “Alright Yuri, we’re here to help you but you are going to have to get off the Embassy grounds.”

“Alright,” He said. I’m coming out now.”

I pulled my vehicle up by the Embassy and parked. I got out and stayed away not to draw attention to myself. It took several minutes for Yuri to appear. He walked very casually towards the front gate. When got to the guard he was stopped and questioned. They were speaking Russian so I didn’t understand anything they were saying. I saw the guard reach out to grab Yuri but he stepped back. The guard went into his shack and got on the phone. Yuri saw me across the street so he made his move. He went for the gate but it wouldn’t open. I saw him take his remote out and push the button several times. He heard the gate unlock so he pushed on it. The gate swung open and he went to walk out when someone came out and started shouting. “Остановить его, остановить его. Снимать его, если вы должны но остановить его уже сейчас.” (Stop him, stop him. Shoot him if you must but stop him now.”

The gate guard stepped out onto the street so I pulled my weapon. “Drop your weapon or I will shoot.”

The man stopped and saw me holding my weapon on him. He dropped his weapon and backed up. “Don’t shoot.” He said.

The man that came out of the Embassy came running up and grabbed the weapon off the ground. Again I repeated my warning but this guy wasn’t stopping. The guard did a brave deed and grabbed the man’s arm and quickly disarmed him. Yuri was frozen. I ran over and opened the door to the Hummer and he quickly ran and got in.

Just then I heard a shot ricochet off the door. I looked and there were guards shooting at us from inside the compound. “Let me get around to the driver’s side then close the door.”

I used the door as a shield so I should get into the bullet proof vehicle. “This is some car you have.” Yuri said.

“Yeah, it’s bullet proof.” I said as I started the vehicle and quickly made my exit.

“Where are we going now?” He asked as he had to shout to be heard over the wail of my siren.

“I’m getting you to the hospital so you can be examined by a doctor.” I answered.

“Wait,” Yuri said causing me to pull over.

“What is it son?” I asked as I cut my lights and siren off.

“Ivan, we gotta get Ivan.” He said sounding a little frantic.

“Who is Ivan, is he your brother?” I asked.

“No, he’s my bodyguard.” Yuri said. “Did you see the man who came out and took the gun away from Demetri.”

Just then I heard Yuri’s phone ring then he had an animated conversation with someone in Russian. I sat there and waited until he finished his call. “Who was that?”

“That was Ivan. Demetri called him a coward for not shooting at me.”

“Is he in hot water?” I asked.

‘No, he’s not in the bath. He’s still at his post at the gate but he fears he will be punished for not shooting. He will meet you at the corner. Please Agent Mason, can we go back and get him?”

I sighed. The last thing I wanted was for someone to get into trouble for not shooting at an unarmed child. “Alright, get into the back seat.”

Yuri climbed into the back seat as I took off and circled the block. I was almost to the street when Yuri started shouting. “There he is, there he is.”

I pulled over and he got into the Hummer. I saw Yuri lean forward and give the man a big hug. “Yuri, why you run away?”

“Ivan, Demetri raped me.” Yuri said breaking down.

Ivan started speaking in Russian but did spit out something I definitely understood. “No one hurt my Pushkin, I will kill them.”

“No Ivan, let the courts deal with him.”

“Neit,” Ivan spat. “He just use his position and get off, I can’t let that happen.”

“Иван, не остановить. Вы в тюрьме и не в мой адрес. Мне нужно вам.” (Ivan, now stop. You end up in prison and not with me. I need you.)  Yuri said in Russian.

“Мелкие, для вас я не больно ему. Но я хочу ему наказания. (Fine, for you I won't hurt him. But I want him punished.)

I was about to pull into the parking lot of GW Hospital when my cell phone went off. “Mason.”

“Ace, it’s Ben.”

“Yes Mr. President. I have the young man and his bodyguard with me.”

“Bodyguard?” Ben asked.

“That’s what I said Sir. Evidently Yuri is someone of some importance and he’s been assigned a bodyguard.”

“Can he be trusted?”

“Oh definitely; he put himself on the line to take weapon away from the Ambassador’s secretary.”

“That was a bold move.”

“Yes Sir it was and it seems the two are very close.”

“Do you think this will present a problem?” Ben asked.

“No Sir, not at all.”

“I need to get Yuri to a hospital.” I said.

“Alright Ace, get him to GW, they take care of a lot of the diplomats here.”

“Right Sir, I’ll call you later.”

I ended the call then heard another phone ring. What I heard was a torrid exchange between Yuri and someone in Russian. He put the call on speaker. “Speak English.” Yuri said.

“Return to the Embassy,” The man said.

“Neit,” Yuri said.

“Yuri, I command it.” The voice said.

“You are not my papa.” Yuri shot back.

“I am responsible for you.” The voice said.

“Oh really, then you allow me to be raped.”

“Do not lie to me.”

“I not lie,” Yuri spat.

“You do,” The voice said. “No one here would do such a thing.”

“Oh yeah?” Yuri fired back. “Then talk to your secretary.”

“Yuri, I know he…” The man started.

“You know nothing,” Yuri interrupted. “How would Nakita like it answering to my Uncle?”

Just then we heard another voice. “Yuri, you are distraught. You have been through trauma, come back and we discuss this.”

“You’d like that, wouldn’t you Nakita. You’d influence everyone to believe your lies. We will see what a doctor has to say. I have your seed in me.”

“What is he talking about Nakita?” I heard the voice ask.

“He is upset. I had to…” Nakita started.

“You had to what?” The voice asked.

“Demetri, you know Yuri is strong willed.” Nakita started. “He had his work to do but he wanted to play his video games.”

“What video games?” Demetri asked.”

“Uh, the one he has in his room.” Nakita stuttered.

“Do not lie to me.” Demetri shot at Nakita.

“Sir, I not lie to you.” Nakita tried to cover his ass.

“Yuri, where did you get this video game from?”

“Sir, Nakita bought it for me,” Yuri answered.

“Is that so?” Demetri growled. “Tell me the truth Nakita.”

“Yuri, do not lie like this,” Nakita pleaded with a shaky voice.

“I am not lying and you know it,” Yuri countered.

“What hospital are you going to?” Demetri asked.

“I don’t know, let me ask Agent Mason.”

“Agent Mason, this is Demetri Koloff.”

“Yes Mr. Ambassador,” I replied. I am taking him to George Washington Medical Center.”

“Good, excellent.” Demetri said. “I will call them and have them examine the boy. Nakita, you better be sure Yuri is wrong about being raped because your life depends on it. Agent Mason, where will Yuri be when he is done at the hospital?”

“I don’t know sir,” I answered. “I guess that all depends on how badly Yuri is torn.”

I heard a loud slap. “Nakita, if he is damaged, I will shoot you myself.”

I heard the man pleading for his life in Russian. “You believe the word of an American Secret Service agent?”

I heard another slap. “How do you know who that man is?” Demetri shouted.

“I saw his badge,” Nakita said weakly.

“Yeah, he tried to shoot me,” Yuri said.

“Is this true?” Demetri asked.

“Yes Sir, it is,” Ivan Petrov said.

“Is this Petrov?” Demetri asked.

“Da, it is,” Ivan replied.

“Is it true what Yuri said, that Nakita tried to shoot him?” The Ambassador asked.

“Da, it true. I had to get my gun away from him but he did manage to get several shots off.” Ivan answered.

“What protected him?” Demetri asked.

“Agent Mason’s vehicle,” Ivan replied. “The bullets bounced off of it.”

“Thank you Agent Mason,” Demetri said. “I need to call hospital.”

“Alright Mr. Ambassador,” I said then he ended the call.

I was still several minutes out but when I arrived, people were waiting. “Ace, what brings you here?” Dr. Phillips asked.

“It’s not for me Doc.” I answered as a nurse came over.

She tried to hustle the boy away but Ivan was having none of it. “Listen, I stay with the boy.”

She tried to get into his face then I stepped in. “Listen, he is the boy’s bodyguard so they stay together.”

“And you might you be?” She asked.

Dr. Phillips stepped in. “Nurse, listen to Agent Mason.”

“Yes Doctor, please follow me.” She said as she led us down a long hall. “Young man, please remove everything and put that gown on, a doctor will be in right away.”

Yuri looked at the scant piece of material. “I wear more than this to bed.”

Yuri stripped then put the gown on then they patiently waited for the doctor. I found where they were taken then I went to the room. I knocked on the door then waited. Ivan opened it. “Ah come in.”

“Where are your clothes Yuri?” I asked.

Ivan pointed to the chair. I saw his underwear and could see a red stain. “Yuri, are you still bleeding?”

“I don’t know.” He answered.

Just then there was a short knock and a man in a white coat came in. “I’m Dr. Reid. Let’s see, who is Yuri?”

“I am,” Yuri answered.

“Can you lie down on the table please?” Dr. Reid asked.

“What you do to me?” The boy asked nervously.

“I’m Dr. Reid; I’m here to examine you.”

Yuri relaxed and got on the table. “Be careful please, I was defiled.”

Dr. Reid put on a pair of gloves then put his hand on Yuri’s cheeks. “Relax now; I need to look back there.”

Yuri relaxed and Dr. Reid spread the young man’s cheeks apart, “Oh my god who did this to you?”

I was standing outside and hadn’t seen the doctor enter. The door opened and a man I knew stepped out. “Agent Mason, it’s nice to see you again.”

“How is the young man?” I asked.

“Man, someone tore him up. He’s worse than that little boy I operated on.” The doctor said.

“I had seen Billy and didn’t think anything could be much worse. Will he need surgery?”

“To be safe and for his long term benefit, I would recommend it.”

Just then, I heard several people speaking Russian. I followed the voices and then saw Ivan with his pistol in someone’s chest. “Ivan, put your weapon away.”

“He raped Yuri, he pay with his life.” Ivan said.

“Neit Ivan! Let the courts deal with him.” I said.

“Neit, he use his political influence and get off with nothing.”

“Ivan, what you’re doing isn’t the answer.” I said.

“Please, help I no rape anyone.”

Ivan bopped him on the side of his head with his pistol. “Silence,” Ivan spat.

I walked up to Ivan. “Let me have him.”

Ivan pushed him in the chest. “Take him before I kill him.”

I grabbed him by the shoulder of his jacket and spun him around. “Put your hands against the wall and don’t move.”

“You don’t know who I am.”

Just then a voice boomed out. “Shut your mouth now Nakita.” The man walked up beside me. “He’s all yours Agent Mason.”

I reached behind me and pulled out my cuffs and put them on the man. “Nakita Popoff you are under arrest.”

“I am diplomat. I have immunity,” He spat.

“Not if I cancel those papers,” Another man said.

“You must be Ambassador Koloff,” I said.

“And you must be Agent Mason,” the man shot back.

I extended my hand out. “That I am Sir and I’m at your service.” I said as I led him away from the secretary. “Sir, Yuri was torn pretty bad and the doctor recommends surgery to repair the damage.”

“Is he just trying to get a fee for operating on Yuri?”

“I don’t think so. I know him. He handled another boy who was severely raped and now he’s good as new.”

“Can we see Yuri?” The Ambassador asked.

“Certainly, follow me,” I said and took him to Yuri’s room.

I stuck my head in and Dr. Reid was examining Yuri so we waited until he was finished. Dr. Reid opened the door then we entered. “There were fluids inside of his rectum. I reached into my pocket and took out an evidence bag and had Dr. Reid put the sample into it and I sealed it then signed it.

“I’ll get these to our lab and have them analyzed. Do you have a DNA sample of your secretary?”

“You can get it from him here.” Demetri replied then he walked over to Yuri and they started speaking in Russian.

I went out and got Nakita and brought him to the room. When he entered he tried to charge over to Yuri’s bed but Ivan grabbed him by the cuffs. “Sit down in that chair and don’t move.”

“Yuri you’re lying. I know you haven’t been raped.”

Dr. Reid walked over. “I beg to differ, that young man was savagely raped and he’ll need surgery.”

“Well, I didn’t do it.”

Demetri went over to Nakita. “Then give them a blood sample.”

“For what?” Nakita asked.

“So they can get your DNA.” Demetri answered.

“Fine, I didn’t do it.” Nakita quickly shot out.

I was thinking it was really odd he gave his DNA up so easy. Maybe he wasn’t the one who did it. I would sit and talk to Yuri when he and I could be alone. Since Nakita was still a diplomat, I couldn’t put him in jail so Ivan took Nakita outside and I went with the Ambassador. “Sir, for now, Nakita will have to stay at your Embassy. Yuri was really adamant about not wanting to return there unless he’s gone. Now, will you allow Yuri to have surgery?”

“Yes, if he needs it, he will get it. Is the doctor a specialist?”

“Yes he is; Yuri will get the best of care. I know Yuri will want Ivan to stay with him. I sense they have a very strong bond.”

“Ivan thinks of Yuri as a nephew.”

Dr. Reid came in and talked with the Ambassador and they went and completed the papers so Yuri could have his surgery. When they went out, Yuri and I were alone so I had a chance to talk with him. “Yuri, are you positive it was Nakita who raped you.”

“Yes Ace I am. Why did you ask this?

“Yuri, it’s been my experience that when someone voluntarily gives up blood for a DNA test that could prove them guilty of something, they are usually innocent.”

“Does this happen all the time?” Yuri asked.

“No, not all of the time. There are times they do it in hopes it will lessen the suspicion on them.”

“Ace, he did it.” Yuri said starting to get upset.

I reached out and caressed his cheek hoping to calm him down. We sat there a few minutes then I heard the door open. I had shifted from the side of the bed to a chair so it wouldn’t look odd. Demetri went over to Yuri and talked with him. I went to ease out of the room because they were speaking in Russian. I was about to open the door when I heard, “Ace, please don’t leave.”

“Where will I stay when I get out of the hospital?” Yuri asked.

“You have home in Embassy.” Demetri answered.

“Neit, not if Nakita is still there!” Yuri said strongly.

“Yuri, we will protect you,” Demetri said.

“Oh, like you have protected me before and look what happened?”

“Yuri, Nakita is considered a diplomat,” Demetri said softly.

“And what about me? I guess I will have to call my uncle and get things solved for myself.”

“Who is your uncle?” I asked.

“President Vladimir Putin,” Yuri answered.

‘Someone’s head will roll,’ I thought.

“Ivan you guard the President’s nephew and I guard the President’s son.”

“Wow Ace, what is that like?”

“Well Bennie is a good boy. He doesn’t give me a hard time about things when we’re out. If I tell him something when we’re outside away from the residence, he listens to me no questions asked.”

“What school does he go to?” Yuri asked.

“He was in high school at the time,” I answered.

“Really,” Yuri asked.

“He graduated this year and in August, he’ll be heading off to college.”

“Will you be with him then too?”

“Yes I will,” I replied. “Now there is something you should know. Tomorrow, Bennie and I are leaving for a week for Bennie’s vacation.”

“Why are you telling me this?” He asked.

“Well, I don’t know how long it will take to get the diplomatic issues resolved. So, until they are, I was thinking you might be able to stay at the residence.”

“Do you mean the White House?”

I smiled and nodded my head. “That’s exactly what I mean.”

I was about to speak when the door opened and in came several nurses to work on Yuri. The poor boy had his gown removed and his arms spread out and he was hooked up to a heart monitor. Then the nurses put bands around each arm so they could start an IV. It looked like organized confusion. Once it was done, several nurses left and one remained in the room. “Yuri, I am going to be giving you your pre-op medication. It will make you a little dopey and you’ll feel funny. Just relax and don’t fight it. Do you have any questions?”

Yuri in a soft voice said, “No.”

The nurse gave him his medication in the IV tubing then I watched as he started to drift off. When the nurses left, Yuri reached his hand out for me. I scooted the chair close to the bed and I let him have it. Yuri was mumbling something I couldn’t understand. Then the door opened and a gurney was wheeled in. The orderlies got him transferred then they covered him up and it was time to head to the operating room. As soon as the gurney was out the door, Ivan went up to Yuri’s side and walked with him to the doors. The doors opened and he was wheeled inside. I looked at the clock on the wall and it was 6:30 so I knew dinner was missed.

I went and found the Ambassador. “Sir, is there anything else you need me for?”

“No Agent Mason. I do want to thank you for helping Yuri.”

“I’m glad I could help Sir.” I replied.

I went over to Ivan. “Do you have cuffs?”

He reached into his pocket then I removed my cuffs and Ivan put his on the suspect. “It’s been nice working with you.”

Now I was free to leave and I had missed dinner so I knew I was in the doghouse. I switched out my cuffs with Ivan then talked with the ambassador. “Agent Mason, when I heard Yuri’s claim that he’d been raped, I didn’t want to believe someone from the embassy could have done such a thing.”

“Well, you saw the damage and the doctor found semen inside him. I have the sample along with the blood sample to compare it against. I will get it to our lab and have our lab supervisor run the DNA so we will know once and for all who was behind it”

“Thank you, when do you think we will know the results?” Demetri asked.

“This could take several days but she is one person that wants things perfect. When the results are in, I can have her call you.”

“Thank you for all you have done.”

“Mr. Ambassador, I should let you know now that I will be out of town for a week.”

“You return to help Yuri, yes?”

“Sir, I will be out of the country.”

“What is this? You leave Yuri in need?”

“No Sir, it’s not like that.”

“Please explain.”

“My job is like Ivan’s. I am the bodyguard to the President’s son.”

“I see so is President’s son going with you?”

“Yes, his son is going on vacation and I will go with him.  We leave tomorrow morning.”

“I understand. Will you be available?”

“For you or Yuri, yes, I will be.”

“And what about the President?”

“Of course, I’m always available for him.”

“Alright, I will let you know how Yuri’s surgery went.”

“Thank you Mr. Ambassador, and tell Yuri he can call me if he wants to when he’s feeling better.”

“I will, take care my friend and have a safe trip.” The ambassador replied.

I shook the ambassador’s hand then left the hospital. When I was heading back to the residence, I called Ben. I filled him in on what had happened. “Ace, do you know who Yuri’s uncle is?”

“Yes Sir, I was told it was...”

“President Vladimir Putin.” Ben finished

“The ambassador’s secretary is a dead man.” I added.

“He just might be but that’s not our concern.” Ben replied.

“It just might be.” I replied.

“How so,” Ben asked.

“I have evidence for Carolyn Mayfield to examine.”

“What kind of evidence?”

“The doctor found semen inside Yuri’s rectum and he took a blood sample from the ambassador’s secretary.”

“Did you tell the ambassador that you were going out of town?”

“Yes Sir I did.”

“Do you think the staff at the Embassy will try to silence Yuri?”

“Now that we have the physical evidence, it would be a moot point.”

“I suppose you’re right.” Ben replied as I pulled onto the White House grounds.

“I am back on the grounds.”

“Alright Ace, I’ll see you when you arrive in the residence.”

I ended the call then hurried to the residence.

When I stepped off the elevator, the first person I saw was Gloria. “Señor Ace, you missed dinner.”

“I’m sorry Gloria, it couldn’t be helped.”

She wagged her finger at me. “You’re lucky I understand you’re never off duty. Now come on, I have your dinner waiting.”

I went to Bennie’s room and washed my hands and face. Bennie was on my heels as I headed out to the dining room. “Tell me what happened baby.”

When I went in, Ben was at the table having a cup of coffee. “Welcome back.” He said as I sat down.

“Maybe I should transfer to the State Department.” I said diving into my dinner.

“Ace, I’ve been on the phone with the Russian Ambassador.”

“How mad is he?” I asked

“Not mad,” Ben started. “I had to calm him down but after I did he came around and listened to me.”

“How much trouble is Yuri in?” I asked.

“I don’t know. Did you have a chance to talk to him?”

“Not really because there were a lot of people around. But I get the feeling he and his bodyguard Ivan might have feelings for each other.”

Ben scratched his head. “If they are in love, that could be bad news for him.”

Bennie gasped. “NO Dad, that’s not fair.”

“I know son but Russia has a thing against gays.”

“That’s crap.” Bennie almost shouted.

“I know son but there isn’t much I can do.”

“Dad, you have to help them.” Bennie whined.

“Hold on son.” Ben started. “We don’t know if they are like you and Ace or not.”

“But if they are, you have to help them.”

Ben finished his coffee then got up and fixed another. “If they ask for it, I’ll do what I can.”

Bennie wrapped his arms around me. “Ace, what’s he like?”

“He’s a cute young man.” I said honestly.

“Oh, he’s cute, is he?” Bennie asked as he let me go.

“You asked,” I replied tossing it back at him.

“But you didn’t have to answer like that,” Bennie tossed back.

“What should I have said?” I sent back at him.

He just sat there then looked down at the table. “I dunno.”

I wrapped my arms around him. “Baby relax, I think you’ll like him.”

“What’s he look like?” Bennie asked.

“He has blonde hair and dark eyes.” I answered.

“You were close enough to see his eyes?” Bennie asked staring at me.

“Yes,” I replied. “And I saw a lot more.”

“What,” Bennie shouted.

“Chill out love,” I started. “I was in the exam room when Dr. Reid examined him.”

Bennie gasped. “Tell me he wasn’t injured.”

I looked down and shook my head. “I’m afraid I can’t, love.  He’s in surgery now.”

“How bad was it?” Bennie asked.

“Not as bad as Billy but it was bad enough,” I answer softly.

Bennie pulled me into him as he buried his face against my arm. “I hope that bastard rots in Siberia.”

“That just might happen,” I said as I finish my meal.

I looked up at the clock and it’s 7:30. Gloria came in and removed my plate as I stood. “Ace, you should get some rest, you and Bennie have a big day tomorrow.”
