Chapter 24
Beau Plans Revenge
Saturday morning, Beau got out of bed and went to see if anyone was running. Father W. and Jeremy showed up with Spencer. No one else came, so they took off. When they got back to the house, Spencer lit into Beau.
“Beau, why do you think you need to take care of me? I will be just fine.” Spencer started to cry.
Beau grabbed him and held him and said, “Stud, I don’t think I need to take care of you. I just want to make your life a little less stressful. I don’t want you to need to work all the time. I am financially able to help you and I’ll still be fine. Please just accept what I did as gesture of love and respect. You are a very special person and please don’t ever change.”
Jeremy and his Dad were watching. Jeremy looked up at his Dad and said, “Dad, they are both special aren’t they?”
Dale just nodded yes. He wasn’t able to speak.
Spencer hugged Beau and the other three took off leaving Beau standing there with tears in his eyes.
Beau took Josh and Ben their coffee and went and dive bombed the two sleeping younger guys. “Time for a shower.”
Jason said, “Go away, you’re bothering us. You are the one who smells.” The two guys got out of bed and the three of them took a shower together.
Beau was applying the ointment to and Clay and he said, “My tummy really hurts.”
Beau didn’t react. He washed his hands and said, “I’ll meet you lazies downstairs.” He knocked on Josh and Ben’s door. They were just coming out of the shower drying their hair.
“Come in Beau. What’s the problem?” Josh asked.
“Dads, I don’t think that Clay has gone to the bathroom since his incident. What can we do?” Beau asked.
Jason and Clay came charging in and Clay stopped and started backing up against Jason. “You aren’t going to go the bathroom on us are you?”
“Clay, they would never do that. Why didn’t you two knock?” Beau asked.
Jason said, “The door was open so we came right in to find out if Clay was working with us today so we would know how to dress.”
Beau said, “Both of you go put on jeans and a shirt and we’ll see what’s going to happen after breakfast.”
The two guys left and Beau said, “Sorry Dads. Please don’t be angry with us, but what can we do to help Clay? Oh by the way, I can see why he was a little frightened after looking at the two of you. Love you anyway.”
“Let’s eat breakfast and then I’ll call Jack and see what he thinks. Whatever we do, I don’t think Jason needs to know because he doesn’t understand what’s gong on.” Ben said.
“Dad, Jason understands more than you think, but I agree, we need to protect him for as long as we can. Jason is intelligent and can see what is going on. It would be better to be honest with him so he wouldn’t conjure up false ideas.” Beau said.
Beau fixed everyone French toast and stewed apples. Everyone was eating when Clay started to double over. “My tummy really hurts. I can’t eat anymore.”
“Dad, olease call Doctor Wilson now!” Beau said, as he got up and held Clay. “We’re going to help you, brother. Now just relax while I rub your tummy.”
Josh went to the phone as Carole Anne and Dylan came in. Ben got them coffee. Josh came back and said, “Doctor Dad said we should give Clay an enema. I’ll go fix it and Beau, you and Dylan can administer it.”
Beau carried Clay upstairs and put a towel on the bathroom floor. Dylan held Clay as Beau started to give him the enema. Clay resisted at first but finally relaxed. He finally yelled, “Stop. I can’t take any more. I have to go to the bathroom really bad.”
Beau helped him up and motioned for Dylan to leave and said, “I want you to count to five and then go to the bathroom. Beau said as he left.
Beau went and held Dylan and said, “That was the hardest thing I have ever had to do in my life. Please hold me. We have to be strong for Clay. He is going to need a lot of love.”
Clay came to the door and
said, “It really smells really bad in here. What do you want me to do now?”
Ben went in and flipped on the fan. “Now I need to make sure that you are clean and then Uncle Dylan is going to put some more ointment on, so you don’t have to get those shots.”
Clay was very patient and didn’t complain as Dylan applied the ointment.
Beau said, “Now get dressed in your jeans and shirt. You need to eat a little something. We’ll meet you downstairs.
Ben had taken Jason to Spencer’s. Dylan and Carole Anne asked, “Would it be permissible for us to take Clay and buy him some more clothes? What time is the wedding and would it okay if we popped in?”
Beau answered, “Yes, 2:00 and yes.”
Dylan, Carole Anne and Clay left. Beau just sat down. “Dad, I need some down time. I’m only 13. Why does everyone expect me to act like I am 31? Dad, I want to learn to play golf and tennis and there is never anytime. I don’t understand why I am in this wedding today, even though I like both Joni and Billy; I am not close to them.”
Josh sat down and held Beau. Ben came in and said, “Beau, Jason is just as confused as the rest of us about what is happening. He told me, ‘Granddad, don’t sweat it. Beau will take care of it.’”
“Yeh, thanks a lot Jason.” Beau said, as he went to collect the dirty clothes and start the laundry. He was peculiarly quiet and all of a sudden he said, “Dad, take me to the Shoppe. I need to be doing something while I figure out what is happening and needs to happen.”
Josh dropped Beau off at the Shoppe and everyone was surprised to see him. Corky and Matthew were working with the Weavers and the Coopers. Beau said, “I’m just going to take inventory and try to keep busy. Before he knew what was happening, Beau had taken care of two customers and made two nice sales.
He went to Mrs. Cooper and asked, “Ma’am, do you have Mrs. Gleason’s number?”
Mrs. Cooper handed him the number and the phone. Beau dialed, “Hi Mrs. Gleason, its Beau. I’m sorry I can’t get there today, but I have to act as an usher at a wedding. … Oh, the real estate agent said what? … Your son said he would give you $25,000.00 for house? … I hope you told them both to stuff it. …I’ll pay you $70,000.00 for the property and I’ll pay you when we get there on Monday. I have some people to help me and we will get you to wherever you want to go.”
“Mrs. Gleason, I want you to have all of your old cancelled checks, bills and receipts available when we get there on Monday about 9:00. Now you have a good weekend. We’ll see you Monday.” Beau hung up the phone and sat down and started to cry. Everyone just left him alone until he could compose himself. Everyone was watching as he finally settled down.
Mr. Cooper went to him and said, “Beau, we’re closing at 12:00 today since we have a wedding to go to.”
Everyone was closing up and Mrs. Weaver handed the three guys their checks and they all stuck them in their pockets. The Coopers took the guys home.
Beau was livid when he got home. His Dads were watching, “I’m so going to nail Mrs. Gleason’s three children. They are going to be paying through their noses. I have a feeling that they have been bilking her for years. After Monday, we will see who comes out on top and it isn’t going to be Mrs. Gleason’s children.”
Josh put his arms around Beau and said, “Beau, just eat. You need to get ready for a wedding. Besides you don’t want Clay to see you like this.”
Jason came bounding in. Granddad, Dad, can we go swimming after lunch?”
Ben said, “Do you have any lifeguards lined up?”
“Why can’t Beau be the lifeguard?” Jason asked.
Beau said, “Because I am going to be in a wedding remember. Call Corky and Matthew and see if they can come.”
Jeff picked up Beau and took him to the church.
When the ceremony was over, Beau was escorting people out and everyone was commenting on how beautiful the wedding was. Beau wound up escorting Mrs. Leavitt, the boys mother and her husband. Mrs. Leavitt whispered, “Thanks for kicking our butts. We’ll do our best to not let the boys down.”
Beau left and went to get the next group. Jeff and Beau stayed at the reception only as long as they had to. Beau had already put his card in the basket. Jeff and Beau arrived at Ben and Josh’s house with Denny. There was already a large group of young people swimming.
Beau handed Jeff and Denny suits and they joined the others. Everyone was having a great time when Judge Leavitt came through the gate and announced. “Dinner will be served in our backyard in 30 minutes.”
Beau looked at her and asked, “So how are we supposed to get to Pluto in thirty minutes?”
Luke said, “We’ll ride your tongue and we’ll be there in 30 seconds.”
Beau went to grab Luke but Luke anticipated Beau’s move and pushed Beau into the pool. Clay reacted and knocked Luke into the pool but he also fell in. All three guys swam to the side and Beau helped Clay out.
Jason grabbed a whistle and blew it three times. “Benson, Leavitt and Morrison, you are all in time out. Now sit. You know behavior like that isn’t permitted at our pool.”
The guys were sitting on the side of the pool. Clay looked at Beau and asked, “Why are we in time out?”
Jason blew his whistle, “No talking in time out.”
Clay started to cry and curled up against Beau. Beau got Jason’s attention and passed him a signal and Jason knew he needed to do something. He went to the three guys and pointed his finger, “Benson, you know better than to be messing around, someone could get hurt.”
Beau nodded and Jason did the same to Luke who also nodded. Jason and went to Clay and asked,” Morrison, do you understand why you are in time out? You can’t go around pushing people into the pool, especially if you don’t know if they can swim. They might drown. Now you have to promise me that you won’t do that again.”
“I promise, Jason.” Clay said as he recoiled against Beau.
Jason blew his whistle three times and announced, “The pool is closed until after dinner on Pluto.”
Judge Leavitt took Jason’s whistle and blew it three times and announced, “Dinner is being served immediately.”
All of a sudden, Beau got the strangest look on his face. Jeff noticed and held him. Beau looked at him and whispered, “Jeff, someone has taken control away from me. Was I doing such a bad job?”
“Beau, you have been trying to do too much, and everyone is worried about you. Even at the Ranch you changed everything. You have to remember that you are a relatively young teenager, although you are more handsome than most men, you still need time to be a kid. Now you have to be strong especially now that Jason has announced that you have Dylan and Carole Anne’s son living with you.”
Beau looked at Jeff like he didn’t understand and all of a sudden Beau started to laugh. “That’s not my fault. I had thought of it, but I wasn’t about to push Carole Anne and Dylan into anything.”
Jeff said, “So let’s go get something to eat.”
They went through the gate and David and Boris were behind the grills. Beau went and started talking to them. They told him to get his food and they would join him and Jeff.
When they sat down Beau started, “You haven’t been here more than two nights in the last year and you are back already. Do you need a Mark and Luke fix or what?”
Luke was standing there and dove on Beau and put his hand over Beau’s mouth. Clay took the whistle and blew three times. “You’re in timeout Leavitt. You could hurt Beau.”
It was totally silent and Beau shook his head and Clay blew the whistle one time and said, “Luke, you tell Beau you are sorry and give him a hug and a kiss.”
Beau finished eating and went into the cleanup mode and Beau announced “30 minutes of swim time and then I need to talk to Carole Anne, Dylan, Uncle Alex, Uncle Boris, Mr. Cooper, Matthew and Berto.
The entire group went next door to the pool and there was no messing around. Clay had crawled up on Dylan’s lap and was lying against him when all of a sudden, he asked, “Daddy D. and Mommy C., I’m very tired. May I please go to bed?”
Dylan got Beau’s attention and Beau closed the pool and had Jason take Clay to the shower and he and Dylan put his ointment on his bottom. He hugged and kissed them both and went and crawled into Beau’s bed.
Beau and Dylan went down to the guests and Beau said goodnight to everyone and had Dylan, Carole, David and Boris cornered. “Great, we’ll make our final plans tomorrow. I need to go make sure that Clay doesn’t feel deserted.”
To be continued...
Editor's Notes:
Just a quick aside here, to let you know that I had things all figured out, NOT!!! I actually love the idea of Dylan and Carol Ann being Clay's parents, but they were not the ones I thought Beau would pick. I thought it would be the parents of the boy that got killed. I didn't want to say anything in case it would be a spoiler. So you see, I am not all seeing, And all knowing.
I am just the editor.
