Chapter
11
The Devil in the Details
They returned to their cabin just before 7:00 in the evening. Their
time at the swimming pool had renewed their energy more than made
them tired. As they got out of their wet swim trunks, Kevin once
again studied his grandfather's body while hoping that he would be
as fit and attractive at 54. He briefly considered suggesting
relaxing in bed for a while, even though he was not tired, because
it might lead to more than relaxation. However, he didn't want to
appear, again, as too eager for sex. At least for a while, he would
let his grandpa take the lead. Perhaps more to the point, he was
hungry. Very hungry. As only a teenage boy can be.
Jerry was also hungry and suggested that they go back to the Lodge
for dinner. "Roughing it in the woods is fun," he said, "but there's
a lot to be said for sitting at a table and having a good meal. You
did pack your suit and tie, didn't you?"
Kevin was only momentarily taken aback at the thought of formal
attire just to eat dinner but then recognized that he was being
teased. "The only suit I have is my birthday suit," he shot back
with a grin. "Will they let me in that way?"
"I guess not," Jerry mused. "Besides, I don't want most of the women
and a few of the men leering at you. Just put on some clothes --
anything will do. This is a resort in the woods and everything is
casual."
Over dinner, they agreed that the next day would be spent hiking at
least some of the trails through the surrounding forest and hills.
The following day, they would try horseback riding. Kevin also
wanted to swim more so they would carve out time for that. "Anything
else you want to do?" Jerry asked. Kevin showed his trademark wicked
grin but Jerry ignored it and added, "There's a room full of video
and arcade games over there. Maybe we could spend some time in
there. Or we could play some tennis."
Kevin, whose mind had been frequently returning to the chance to
have sex, scowled at Jerry. He knew that his grandpa knew what he
wanted to do but was teasing him again. "All of that sounds fun," he
said, He looked around at the guests in nearby tables before
carefully wording his reply. "As long as I'm with you, I'm happy."
Jerry immediately recognized Kevin's real meaning but had another
purpose for appearing to remain ignorant. "We're together now. So
you're happy now?"
"Yes," Kevin replied, becoming somewhat frustrated at his grandpa's
continuing to evade what was in his mind and must surely be in his
grandpa's mind. He glanced over his shoulder again and said, "But I
could be happier."
"And what would make you happier, Kevin?"
The boy's irritation was now evident in his expression and yet
another glance at the nearby tables. "You know. And I know that you
know," he grumbled.
"I'm not sure I do, Kevin. And I want to make our vacation really
special for you. What would make it special?"
Kevin was now exasperated. He felt that Jerry's teasing had gone too
far and, in the restaurant, he could neither complain nor say
anything to clarify that he was looking forward to an evening of
sex. He suppressed the urge to say, in full voice, 'To go to bed
with you. To have sex with you.' But, of course, he knew better.
Instead, he sank into a sullen silence. After several bites of food
while he tried to understand his grandfather's persistent teasing,
it occurred to him. He looked up at Jerry and said, "That was a
test, wasn't it?"
"A test?"
"You know. Condition one. You were testing me to see if I would
remember what you said. About always being careful."
Jerry smiled and said, "I confess. I started out teasing but then
decided to see how you would handle the situation. I have to give
you an A minus."
"Minus? I thought I was better than that."
"I'll explain on the way back to the cabin."
Jerry signed the check for dinner and they got up to leave. Before
going back to the cabin, Jerry made arrangements to pick up two box
lunches at breakfast the next day. Then, walking to the cabin,
Kevin's curiosity led him to say, "Minus? What did I say wrong?"
"It's not what you said, Kevin. That was very creative. It's what
you did -- looking around before you said something and then talking
in a low voice. It's not what people would expect from a grandfather
and grandson. Although it is not very likely, it could draw the
attention of snoopy people. What you said was perfectly innocent.
It's an example, although a poor one, of how we must always be on
guard about what we do and say when we're together. You never know
when some little detail in a conversation will arouse suspicion."
"I'm sorry," Kevin said.
"Don't be sorry. You handled the situation extremely well. I could
tell that you were very carefull in what you said. I'm proud of you
for that."
By this time, they had arrived at their cabin. Jerry unlocked the
door and they walked inside. Kevin closed the door and locked it.
Turning to Jerry, he said, "We're alone now. Can I say what's really
on my mind?"
"Of course."
"I'm horny as hell. I want to go to bed with you. I want to play
with you and have you play with me. Maybe all night long. Of course,
if you say no, I'll have to abide by condition two but I won't like
it and I'll have to go off somewhere and jerk off thinking about
you. There! I've said it!"
Jerry stared at Kevin just long enough for Kevin to grow uneasy,
fearing that his outburst had somehow displeased his grandpa. Then,
without warning, Jerry grabbed him, pushed him onto his back on the
bed, climbed on top of him, and began kissing him. Delighted, Kevin
threw his arms around Jerry and returned the kiss.
It wasn't long before they were both naked and rolling around
together on the bed -- each one competing to arouse, stimulate, and
please the other -- both of them fully occupied by unadorned erotic
pleasure. As Jerry was grinding his firm cock against Kevin's
equally rigid member, Kevin said forcefully, "No! Stop! Please!"
Jerry was startled and backed off. "Are you all right? Did I hurt
you?" he asked with sudden concern.
"I'm fine," Kevin reassured him. "It's just that I was afraid I
would shoot and I don't want to yet. Can we just cuddle a little
while? Just until ... you know ... until the urge passes?"
"Of course," Jerry replied in relief that Kevin was okay.
They lay tightly pressed together in an embrace and occasionally
kissing until Kevin started to chuckle.
"So what's funny?"
"Condition two. It's usually you that says no. I never expected that
I would say it."
Jerry smiled. "I'm glad you did, Kevin. For two reasons. First, you
should always say it when you don't want to do something or, in this
case, when you just want to slow down. Secondly, by saying that you
wanted a pause, you showed that you were in control of your
feelings. You weren't just racing toward orgasm."
"Thanks," Kevin replied, "but I wanted you to stop for another
reason It feels a lot better to shoot when you're sucking me. Is
that being selfish?"
"No, it's being honest." Jerry decided to take the opportunity to
add another lesson to Kevin's education and, at the same time,
remind him of condition three. "When you find a partner, you must
always be honest with him. If the two of you are honest with each
other, it builds trust, which is essential to respect and love."
Kevin thought about that for a moment before asking, "Suppose I
don't want to do something but my partner does. Wouldn't it be
better to give in and do it ... as a favor?"
"Sometimes," Jerry replied, pleased that Kevin was thinking of a
partner's needs taking priority over his own. "But everybody has
limits on what they want or are willing to do. You told Patrick 'no'
back at the lake. He wanted to fuck you and you may have wanted it
too but you didn't give in. That was right and smart. Sometimes,
though, you will do things to or with your partner that you don't
feel like doing just to give your partner pleasure. That's being
kind and loving. There's no single answer, Kevin. It depends on the
situation."
"I think I understand," Kevin said. "I should do things for a
partner that I love ... because I love him ... that I wouldn't do
for just anybody."
"That's one reason and an important one. But there may be times,
even with a partner you love, that you should say 'no.'"
"For instance?" Kevin asked.
Jerry thought for a moment before an example came to mind. "When
your grandmother and I got married, I wanted her to suck me off but
she said she really didn't want to do it. She thought it was gross
and perverted. She said 'no' even though I wanted her to do it. She
had the right to do that and I had to respect that right. So, if
there is anything that you really object to, I think it's all right
to say 'no.' You can do tactfully and I believe in the long run your
honesty will only strengthen the bond between you."
Kevin was silent for a few minutes while he absorbed what he had
heard. But then he said, "Speaking of honesty, I'm still horny.
Can we play now?"
Jerry chuckled and said, "I'm glad you asked. We've been doing too
much thinking and it's time for play."
Kevin giggled and immediately began to kiss and lick his way down
Jerry's chest and stomach while fondling his still-erect cock. "Hold
on, pardner," Jerry said. Kevin was surprised by the interruption
and even more surprised when Jerry moved into a 69 position. "That's
better," Jerry continued. "Now we both have what we want." Kevin
immediately got the message and eagerly wrapped his lips around
Jerry's cock while enjoying the sensations emanating from his own
groin as Jerry furiously sucked on the boy's manhood.
As expected, Kevin shot first but it only temporarily delayed his
efforts to bring Jerry to an extremely satisfying orgasm.
They cuddled and embraced for about twenty minutes with their bodies
intertwined and, it seemed to both, merged.
Eventually, Kevin whispered, "Thanks, grandpa. I've never been
happier."
"That's all it takes? A little sex play to make you so happy?"
"That's part of it," Kevin said seriously and not reacting to
Jerry's obvious joke. "The other part is helping me understand what
I am. And telling me how to cope. I know now what to say and not
say, what to do and not do, how to avoid problems."
"Yes, you know a lot more now but you still have a lot to learn.
There are a lot of details and nuances in finding the right partner
and then building a lasting, satisfying relationship. There's a lot
more to learn about being gay in a narrow-minded society."
"But I have you to help me," Kevin said.
I'll help you as much as I can. The devil is in the details, Kevin.
I don't know all of the details. Maybe nobody does. You'll have to
discover them along the way. But I'm available ... any time that you
need advice."
"What if I need something else?"
Jerry scowled, sensing the trap that Kevin was laying. "Whenever you
need advice, whenever you need to talk to somebody, I'll be there.
But don't expect that I will cancel condition three."
"But, grandpa ..." Kevin pleaded.
"You will find somebody your own age. This vacation will end. After
that, we can talk about sex whenever you want to but our sex will
end. I don't like that any more than you do but it has to be. Our
pact must remain in force and that includes all of the conditions --
secrecy, the right to say no, and your responsibility to find a
partner."
Kevin knew that further objections would be futile and may even
anger his grandpa so he just snuggled in more tightly to the man who
meant so much to him. He still harbored the hope that his grandpa
would relent and grant an occasional session of sensual pleasure
but he would have to make his appeal at another time.
For his part, Jerry dreaded the end of the vacation and in unguarded
moments regretted imposing the third condition. However, his resolve
was buttressed by the firm conviction that it was the best and only
way to help his grandson.
To be continued...
