Chapter 75

Dr. Phillips put two stitches in my shoulder then washed his hands.

“Hey Doc, when can I go home?” I asked.

“I don’t know if I can trust you there.”

Doc, let my love come home, please,” Bennie whined. “I’ll keep him out of trouble.”

“Who will keep you out of trouble?” the doc asked.

Bennie handed Pete the keys to his car so he could bring it to the front entrance. The nurse brought me my discharge papers and a wheel chair then I headed out a back entrance to get to the front door. Pete got Bennie into the car then he and I got in then returned to the residence.

Bennie led me to our room then helped me get undressed. “Get in bed love, you’re taking it easy today.”

The way I felt, I wasn’t about to argue with him. I slipped in and began to cuddle with my lover. I rested my head on his shoulders then closed my eyes. I had just dozed off when my cell rang. Bennie sat up and glared at me. I found my pants and my cell. “Mason.”

“Ace, are you watching the TV?”

“No Sir, but I can; what channel are you watching?”

“Channel seven.”

“Turn on the TV channel seven, love.”

Bennie turned it on and there was the reverend spouting his dribble. “Once again the white man has murdered a poor black child. We cannot stand by and let this go unchallenged. I want all my brothers and sisters to get out there and let the law enforcement establishment know we’re not going to take this any longer.”

Most of the crowd was working themselves into a frenzy.

“This doesn’t look good sir.” I said to Ben.

“I want you to bring him to me.”

“As you wish Sir,” I said then ended the call.

I reached for my undies then put them on as Bennie started staring at me “Where are you going?”

“Your father wants me to bring him to his office.”

I pulled my cell out and called Dylan. “Masters.”

“Dylan, can you meet me by the elevator?”

“Sure, what’s going on?”

“The good reverend is out working a crowd into a frenzy. The President would like us to bring him to his office.”

“I’m on my way,” Dylan replied then ended the call.

“See love, I’m taking it easy.”

He refused to answer me. I managed to get my vest and shirt on by myself then put my tie on over my head then drew it up. I checked my weapon then went out to meet Dylan. He looked at me, “Are you ready?”

Dylan and I headed out into the cold then went through the back gate. We walked onto the podium and took the reverend by the arms. “Come along reverend,” we said as we led him over to the fence.

“Look, they’re trying to silence me.”

As soon as he was against the fence, we quickly searched him then led him onto the White House grounds. “I see, take me away then beat me.”

“Stick a sock in it,” I said, “no one is going to beat you.”

“Sure, I’ll get my brothers to look at me.”

“Nice try,” Dylan said. “Your visit will be recorded.”

As we got close to the doors to the White House, Tonka came out to greet us. “Tonka, heel!” I told him.

The reverend started trying to get away but Tonka sounded off. “Don’t let him bite me.”

“Then quit trying to get away. Tonka quiet!” I said.

We managed to get him inside without any further problems. Once inside, the reverend started looking at all the agents. “I see this is the White Man’s club.”

“You don’t know a thing,” Dylan shot back.

We led the reverend towards the Oval Office then entered the waiting room. Fred buzzed the President then we entered Ben’s office. I didn’t see him so I had an idea where he was. Harper saw the Agent sitting in there. “I see you’re trying to bring down another brother.”

Agent Baldwin stood and went over to the reverend. “Why don’t you just shut up?”

I gave Baldwin a look and he returned to his chair. “Reverend, this is James Baldwin. He is a Special Agent with the Secret Service.”

“So you’re playing Uncle Tom for the white man.”

James thought about charging the reverend but Dylan was standing beside him.

Ben came into the room. “Reverend, I asked you here; now take a seat and close your mouth.”

For once, the reverend sat and remained quiet.

Adam stepped over. “I’d like you to meet US Attorney Adam Graham.”

“And he’s here because?” Harper asked.

“Reverend, you’re just a few words away from facing some very serious Federal charges. If I were you, I’d stop trying to incite people to riot.”

“I can’t control what they do.” He retorted.

“I wouldn’t bet the farm on that,” Adam fired back.

Harper looked over to Agent Baldwin. “Why is this brother in here?”

Baldwin had had enough of Harper. “Look man, I am not your brother so you can cut that crap now.”

“So why are you in here?” Harper asked.

“Here is a little news flash for you. I was the one that shot the kid.”

“So you murdered a poor black child?”

“Your poor black child shot a federal agent then aimed his weapon at the White House. As soon as he did that, I had a responsibility to protect the President. Since he’d shot one person already, I had no reason to believe he wouldn’t fire again so I did my job and if the same thing happened again, I would do the same thing.”

“So the Federal Government is murdering the black man?”

Adam stepped over. “I’d be careful of what I said if I were you.”

“What’s wrong, you don’t like the truth?”

“Why you. . .” Baldwin started but Dylan put his hand on James’s shoulder.

“You don’t know squat.” James said sternly.

“That’s just enough,” Ben said. “I’ll not turn this meeting into a mudslinging shouting match.”

I looked at Ben then stepped out and sat down to rest my arm. Dylan and James were still inside the Oval Office so I knew Ben was protected. I had a cup of coffee then the door opened and Dylan and the reverend exited. Dylan handed me a letter so I slipped it into my jacket pocket then we escorted the reverend to the back gate.

We walked over to the host of the news conference and I handed her the letter from Ben. She read it then had her crew begin to dismantle the stage. The reverend lost it and began shouting. “Look, the white man is silencing me. Dylan and I went over to him. “If you don’t stop, you’ll be arrested.”

The reverend threw his hands up and began to shout, “Don’t shoot, don’t shoot, don’t shoot!”

A person near the front shouted, “Why don’t you go away and shut up.”

Dylan and I took our leave and returned to the White House. I headed for the residence and Bennie was waiting for me. “Come on lover, I’m keeping you in bed for the rest of the day.”

“And what do you have in mind?” I asked as he had that devilish grin on his face.

He reached under my jacket and took me by the belt and led me to his room. Once inside, he began to undress me.

As soon as I was naked he pulled the covers down so I slipped into bed. Bennie quickly stripped and joined me. He cuddled close so I rested my head on his shoulder. My shoulder was throbbing so I relented and took one of the pills Dr. Phillips gave me at the hospital. “You know you can’t work now, don’t you?” Bennie asked as I swallowed the medicine.

“I do love,” I answered as I made a few calls letting people I was indisposed.

Once that was done, Bennie began to caress my body. I closed my eyes as I felt his hand travel south. “Did you lose something?”

Bennie took my dick in his hand then smiled. “No love, I found it.”

At this point, my tool was standing tall. Bennie stretched out and took it into his mouth and began to bring me pleasure. I held onto my arm as Bennie was about to make me blow. “You better hold on baby.”

Bennie kept working on me as my balls began to ache. I felt my load work its way to the top of my dick then I fired. Bennie took my load and swallowed, then wiped the excess off the corner of his mouth.

After that huge load, I was exhausted. I rested my head on Bennie and fell asleep. Bennie tried to wake me for dinner but the pill really did its job. When I finally woke up, I was hungry.

Bennie got up and went out then returned with a TV table. He placed that across my lap then left the room again. This time, he had a plate in his hands. He set it on the table. “Gloria made this for you love.”

I let it cool a little then dove in. “Baby, you were hungry, weren’t you?”

I let out a belch then turned red. “Yes I was love. Tell Gloria thank you.”

I slid down under the covers then Bennie returned and Gloria was with him. “How are you feeling Señor Ace?” Gloria asked as she came over and gave me a kiss on my cheek.

“I’m feeling much better after that fantastic meal. Thank you for saving dinner for me.”

“Anything for you Señor Ace. Now you rest and get your strength back. I’ll see you tomorrow morning.”

Gloria went back out to the kitchen then Bennie stripped and joined me in bed. He brought my head over and I put it on his chest. That was the last thing I remembered until my cell phone woke me. “Ugh, Mason.”

“Good morning Ace.” The chipper voice said.

“It was until I was just awakened.”

“Have you looked outside?”

“Considering I was sleeping, no I haven’t.” I said as I eased out of bed and walked over to the window. “Holy shit, when did that happen?”

“Over night, didn’t you watch the weather?”

“After I ate dinner, the only thing I watched was the inside of my eyelids. What can I do for you Ed?”

“I need you to come over to the main office.”

“When and what for?” I asked.

“I am getting pressure from the media that we’re trying to sweep the shooting of that boy under the rug.”

“Come on Ed, you’ve never been one to let the media dictate policy.”

“I’m not but I have to hold a shooting review board and I want every senior agent to be present.”

“Alright, I can bring Dusty and Dylan with me.”

“You’ll be here so we have enough for a board.”

“Hold on Ed, I was a victim so how can I sit on the review board?”

“I’m not worried about that. I just want to hold a review board.”

“What time?”

“Be here at 9am.”

“Alright, I’ll be there.” I said then ended the call.

I flipped on the TV and caught the morning weather. “The storm system that brought us six inches of snow will remain over the Metropolitan DC area for the next several days. It is expected to drop another four to six inches of snow.”

Bennie woke up and saw the weather report. He jumped up out of bed and hurried over to the window. “Man, I better check my email to see about classes.”

Bennie fired up his computer and logged into his mail. “School is closed until further notice.”

Bennie went online to see if classes were available next week. “They have nothing posted yet as to whether or not they’ll have classes online. This will put me behind.”

“Baby you’re ahead is it stands now. A few days won’t hurt you.”

I looked at the clock and saw breakfast would be served shortly so I had to get cleaned up so I could get over to the main office.

Bennie washed my lower half while I did the upper and then he helped me get dressed. When I was dressed, I called Dylan and Dusty and told them they were needed at headquarters. They asked if they could ride with me and I told them they could.

When Bennie and I came out to the dining room, Gloria started to bring in the food. Today, she made her delicious waffles. I informed Ben I had to go over the headquarters. I heard the elevator doors open then Dusty, Dylan and Pete came into the dining room. “Pete, just the person I need to see. Can you stay with Bennie while the rest of us go over to headquarters?”

“I’d be glad to Ace. Pete answered as he went over and put his hands on Bennie’s shoulders and gave them a little squeeze. Bennie looked up and smiled at his friend.

I finished my coffee then got my wool overcoat and we headed for the elevator. We got into the Hummer and I blazed a trail to the back gate. “Be careful out there Agent Mason, the roads are just now getting plowed.”

“Thank you Officer, I’ll be careful.”

We made the trip to headquarters without incident. I found a place to park then we went inside. Ed was waiting for us. “Follow me please.”

We were led to a conference room. “What’s the TV camera for?”

I made an agreement with them so it’ll be televised.”

My jaw almost hit the floor. “Why would you allow that?”

“I’m tired of hearing cover up.”

“Alright, I just want Agent Baldwin’s rights protected.”

“I see whitey has stacked the deck against him.” A voice said.

“What the hell are you doing here? This is for Secret Service agents only.”

“My only concern is the boy’s rights are protected.”

I stood up and walked over to the reverend. “Now listen closely. You’ll sit here and keep your trap shut or you’ll be removed from this room and the building. Do we understand each other?”

Ed looked at the reverend. “Remember what I told you. I won’t hesitate to put you in a cell.”

“Why don’t you put me in chains while you’re at it?” The reverend said as he stood up.

“Get out of that chair again, and you will be,” Ed said firmly.

“You’re just trying to keep the black man down.”

I thought Ed was going to lose it.

Just then Adam walked in as I was walking over to the reverend. “If I were you I’d sit there with my mouth shut.”

“Is there a problem?” Adam asked as he set his briefcase on the table.”

“No problem Adam.” I answered. “We’re just laying out the ground rules.

The reverend shouted, “They’re trying to railroad the brother and forget about the black child.”

I had taken all I could stand of him. “Remove him and call the US Marshalls.” I said.

“What are the charges Ace?” Adam asked as he pulled out his cell.

I looked at Harper then over to Adam and replied, “Stupidity in the first degree.”

Adam looked at me over the top of his glasses. “OK, OK, OK. Don’t call the Marshall’s service.”

At that point, Ed called the meeting to order. The news caster took her place in front of the camera. “The review board is about to come to order. The first person who will be speaking is Ed Miller. He is the Director of the Secret Service.”

“The shooting review board will come to order. I will be narrating the proceedings.”

“This board will investigate the events leading up to the shooting of Michael Dwayne Morris. His parents have been subpoenaed and will testify before us. Mr. Graham, will you start the questioning?”

Adam stood and went to the podium. “Agent Mason, will take the stand please?”

I got up and walked over to a chair beside the podium. An agent was holding a bible. I put my hand on it then was sworn in. “Do you solemnly swear or affirm, under the penalties of perjury, the testimony you are about to give is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth; so help you God?”

“I do,” I answered.

“Please be seated,” Adam said walking over.

I sat down then Adam began. “Agent Mason, please tell this board how you came to be aware of the shooter?”

“I was informed of him by the sniper in the crow’s nest,” I answered.

“So you were profiling the brothers and sisters,” Harper said, interrupting the proceedings.

“Reverend Harper, one more outburst and you’ll be removed from these proceedings,” Adam said firmly.

The news anchor went over to the control board and had the reverend’s microphone turned off. Adam came back over to me and asked, “What did you do then?”

“I drew my weapon and approached the suspect.”

“So the poor boy was now a suspect. The black man doesn’t stand a chance here,” the reverend shouted.

Adam and the bailiff came over and took him by the arms and escorted him from the room.

“I can’t breathe! I can’t breathe! I can’t breathe!” he shouted as he was led from the room. The closed circuit TV system was recording everything. As soon as the door closed, the reverend went down to the ground. The bailiff stuck his head inside the room. “Man down.”

Ed grabbed his cell and called 9 1 1 and had an ambulance dispatched. When the paramedics arrived, Harper was now conscious. “They choked me. They choked me.”

The paramedic looked at the agents and made a notation of what Harper had said.

The agent in the booth heard the conversation then called them over to the booth. “Look Harper is lying through his teeth.” The agent said as pulled up the video and showed it to the medics.

Once again, Harper threw himself to the ground and started yelling. “They choked me, they choked me.”

The medics went back to Harper and stared at him. “So they choked you, did they?”

“They did, I couldn’t breathe.” Harper said in a raspy voice.

The medic brought out a tablet and held it in front of the reverend. “Watch this,” the medic said.

The events played out on the screen. The reverend watched as the agents led him out of the conference room then watched as he threw himself on the floor and began screaming. The reverend got himself hyperventilating to the point he passed out. “Nice act.”

“It wasn’t an act. They choked me.”

“Sure they did,” the medic said as he pulled Harper to his feet.

“I want to file charges against them.” He screamed.

Adam walked over and glared at Harper. “Are you sure you really want to do that?” Adam asked.

“Oh I see how it is. Protect whitey and let the black man suffer.”

Adam brought out a piece of paper and handed it to Harper. “Fill this out if you wish to file charges but I would think long and hard before I did,” Adam said, handing Harper a pen.

He snatched the pen and began writing. “I’ll show you who will file charges.

Harper scribbled and scribbled then handed the paper and pen back to Adam. “There, now arrest them.”

Dylan and Dusty went over and put Harper’s hands behind his back. “Alvin Harper, you’re under arrest.”

“FOR WHAT?” he screamed then went to pull another stunt. “Help! I can’t breathe! I can’t breathe!”

This went on for several minutes but the medics slapped an oxygen mask over his face. One of the medics pulled out a paper bag and put it over Harper’s nose and mouth. After several minutes, Harper’s breathing returned to normal. The Marshalls Service had arrived so they took Harper to jail charged with making a false police report.

Once Harper was gone, everything returned to normal and we returned to the conference room.

Adam pointed to the chair so I returned to it and waited. Adam pulled out his note pad then asked me another question. “When did you give Agent Baldwin the green light to shoot?”

“I didn’t but when the suspect turned and faced the White House, he had the green light.”

“Is that standard operating procedure?” Adam asked?

“It is. We have to protect all people on the grounds and inside the White House, not just the President although he is the main person.”

The news anchor went over to Adam and wrote something on his legal pad. Adam picked it up and asked, “Agent Mason, isn’t it true the suspect has a long criminal record?”

I nodded my head. “It is. His name is Michael Dwayne Morris.  He is fourteen years of age and he’s been arrested fifteen times for various crimes ranging from petty theft to assault with a deadly weapon. He spent 2 years in a juvenile detention facility for pistol whipping an 86 year old woman.”

“You didn’t know this at the time, did you?” Adam asked.

I shook my head then answered. “No sir, I didn’t.”

“Agent Mason, to whom did the weapon Michael Morris had in his possession belong to?”

“Records indicate the gun was purchased by Jakwanda Morris.”

Just then a voice was heard. “Dat’s right, blame the blacks for having guns.”

I looked at where the voice came from. “If you owned the gun legally, that’s not a problem.”

“Yeah, right,” the woman said.

“Mrs. Morris, that’s just enough,” Adam said. “If you interrupt these proceedings again, you’ll be arrested also,” Adam said as she flopped back into her chair and started mumbling in her husband’s ear.

Adam looked back at me. “You’re dismissed, Agent Mason.”

I stood then sat at a table with other agents.

Adam looked at his legal pad then said, “Special Agent James Baldwin, please take the stand.”

James stood then walked towards the chair. The Bailiff swore him in, then James sat down. “Agent Baldwin, why did you shoot Michael Morris?”

“After he shot Agent Mason, he turned and pointed his weapon at the White House.”

“Das a lie. Michael would never consider shooting at the White House. He was a good boy and raised proper.”

Adam went over to the woman. “I gave you one warning. I’ll not warn you again.”

“Then stop lying about ours boy. Michael was a good boy.”

“If he was so good, why was he carrying a gun?” Adam fired at the woman.

“These streets here are dangerous and Michael was scared.”

“So that gives him the right to carry a gun?”

Michael Sr. spoke up. “It sure does. I gave it to him so he’d be safe.”

I went over to the husband. “Sir, please stand up.”

The man stood and I put him in cuffs. “You’re under arrest.”

“Put it all on the poor black man,” Michael Sr. said as he tried to wiggle out of the cuffs.

He was led out of the room and placed in a chair and guarded until the US Marshalls could return for him.

Adam looked at James. “Do you have anything else to add?”

“If you’d look at the video, everyone will see exactly how it went down.”

“Yeah sure it will be after yous all doctored it up.”

“Madam, that’s it; Bailiff escort her out of here and have an agent guard her.”

The agent came over and led her out of the conference room. He pointed to a chair and she sat down.

Back inside the conference room, Adam played the events that led up to the shooting. The news anchor gave a narration as the events played out on the screen. “Agent Mason, that took guts to lower your gun and try to talk the suspect into surrendering.”

“That was the best option as I didn’t want shots being fired.”

“How is your shoulder?” she asked.

“Aching like a bad tooth but I’ll survive.”

“This isn’t the first time you’ve been shot, is it?”

“Sadly, no. I’ve gone through three vests.”

“Oh my. What happened?”

The first time I was shot in the back when I was outside on the grounds. The second time, I was inside the residence.”

“Can you show us where you were shot?”

I stood up and turned around and pointed to the area. “If not for the vest, I’d be paralyzed. The last one hit me at the belt line.”

“Agent, thank God you’re still alive. I bet your partner is glad too.”

I gave her a look and she smiled. “Yes, Bennie is very glad.”

“I bet he is.” She replied.

Ed stepped over. “Agent’s it’s time for a vote. There are pieces of paper for you to put your opinion on.”

Dusty and Dylan began writing. I sat there and didn’t vote. I handed Ed my paper.

Dusty handed Ed his slip then Ed opened it and read it. Dylan was next. After Ed read the vote, he made the findings public. “Agent James Baldwin, please stand while the verdict is published.”

James stood and looked at his fellow agents. “Agent Baldwin, this shooting review board finds that the shooting is within Agency guidelines and restores you to full duty.”

The news anchor went over and shook his hand. “That was a hell of a thing you did. I couldn’t have your job. You are one fine agent and you do the service proud.”

“Thank you ma’am,” Baldwin said turning red.

“Alright agents, get back to work.” Ed announced as the camera was turned off.”

I went outside and that woman started mouthing off. “I’s gonna sue you all.”

“I’s gonna own everyone of you whities.”

I ignored her as Dylan, Dusty and I headed for the door. “Come on guys, let’s get out of here.”

We got into the Hummer and backed out of the space. As we drove off, I heard a clink. “Ace, we’re being shot at.”

I saw Ed draw down and fire dropping the crazy female. I hit the brakes as Dusty got on the radio requesting an ambulance to our location. The three of us ran over to the suspect and checked on her condition. “She’s still alive.”

The ambulance arrived quickly and they put her on a stretcher and loaded her into the rig and took off for the hospital.

I went over to Ed. “Are you alright buddy?”

I took Ed’s weapon and secured it. Ed was standing there shaking. “Ace, this is the first time I’ve ever had to shoot a person.”

I motioned for Dusty to come over. “Talk to him, this is his first shooting.”

Dusty took Ed back inside headquarters then I placed a call to Ben. I filled him in on what happened and told him we’d be back as soon as we could.

To be continued...
