Chapter 57

The suspect didn’t budge then he let the barrel point towards the ground. He started to set the weapon down then without any rhyme or reason, he dropped to one knee then aimed at Dylan. “Down,” Francine shouted.

<BANG, BANG, HANG, HANG>

Dylan and Francine each fired two shots killing the suspect. “Ace, shots fired. We had no choice but to take him out, I’m sorry we couldn’t take him alive.”

“Copy that, I saw the whole incident. You did your best.”

I made the notifications to Sergio so he and his team could come over and pick up the body. The residence remained on lockdown until everything was cleaned up and the area could be reopened. Outside the gate, Dylan and Francine took control of the person’s weapon. “Ace, do you need to see this weapon?”

“What is it?” I asked.

“It’s an AR15.”

“What the hell?” I almost shouted.

“Easy buddy, I’ll bring it over.”

“Hold it Dylan, don’t touch it.”

“I haven’t,” Dylan replied.

“Let forensics dust it for prints first then log it into evidence.”

“Will do Ace,” Dylan answered.

I was standing by the window in the residence watching the goings on and very lost in thought. ‘How and why would someone bring an assault rifle down Pennsylvania Ave. and take shots at the White House.’

The more I thought the more I couldn’t come up with a valid answer other than the person was mentally deranged and if that was the case, how did he get his hands on any kind of a weapon. I don’t know how long I was standing there in my own world when I felt a hand on my shoulder. It startled me until I looked to see who it was. “Yes Sir.”

“You looked like you were deep in thought.”

“I was Sir. The threat has been handled but I have some nagging questions.”

“Such as,” Ben asked.

“Well for starters, what would cause a person to walk down Pennsylvania Ave. with an AR15?”

That question even had Ben thinking. “That is a good question. Do we know who this person is?”

“No not yet.” I answered then called Dylan.

“Yes Ace.”

“Have you searched him?”

“What are you looking for in particular?”

“Some sort of identification.”

“The Medical Examiner is here now. As soon as he’s ready to remove the body, I’ll search him.”

“Thanks Dylan.” I said then ended the call then looked at Ben. “We’ll know in a few minutes. The weapon he was carrying is going to be dusted for prints so we can run those to see if he has a record.”

A few minutes later, Dylan was calling me back. “What did you find?”

“I found his wallet. He’s got a Florida Driver’s License with the name José Salina. He’s 25 years old.

“Alright Dylan, that helps but let’s see what we can find out with his prints.”

“Alright, they’re dusting that now. I’ll be up there in a few minutes.”

“Sounds good buddy,” I said then ended the call.

It took several hours for the forensics team to go over the area before we could take the residence off of lockdown. I was finally able to eat my breakfast and I had to give it to Gloria, she made me a fresh omelet because the one in the warmer was now like rubber.

After I’d eaten, Bennie asked what was on tap. Before the shooting, I hadn’t really planned on anything special. “Today just got planned for me love, why don’t you start teaching your gramma how to use the computer?”

“Can we go out?” Bennie asked.

“Where were you looking to go?” I asked.

“I don’t know, someplace with gramma.”

“I think you should check with your Dad love.”

“Alright baby,” Bennie said then went and got his laptop.

Just then I heard the buzzer sound off letting me know someone was coming into the residence. I stuck my head out of the dining room and saw Dylan walking down the hall. He saw me looking then waved. “I brought the prints forensics pulled off his weapon.”

“How many did they get?”

“About a dozen readable ones,” Dylan replied as he joined me in the dining room.

Ben was having a cup of coffee then he saw what was hanging across Dylan’s back. “What the hell is that?”

“That’s the weapon the shooter had Mr. President.”

“Please take that out of the residence.”

“Yes Mr. President, right away.”

“Put it in the gun safe in the property room.” I said.

“Do you have the combination?”

“See Agent Moore, he has it.” I answered as Dylan headed for the West Wing. “Give those prints to him too and ask him to run them please.”

“Right away Ace,” Dylan answered.

Down in the office Dylan was having Dusty open the gun safe so he could store the weapon in it. After he opened the door, Dusty wanted to look at the weapon. He started looking it over when he noticed something. “Dylan, did you see this?”

“Looks like someone tried to remove the serial number.”

“You’re right.” Dusty said placing the weapon in the safe then closing the door and locking it. “I’m going to call Ace on this. Did he see it?”

“No he didn’t, the President wanted it removed from the residence.” Dylan answered.

Dusty pulled out his cell. “Ace, I need to see you in the property room right away.”

I guzzled the rest of my coffee then hurried to the West Wing. Bennie was giving Brenda a computer lesson and Brenda was far from an inept old woman. She was picking up everything Bennie was teaching her.

I found Dusty and Dylan in the property room having a discussion. “What’s up guys?”

“Ace look at this,” Dusty said holding the AR15.

I looked at the weapon and was taken aback. “What the hell is going on?”

I took the weapon and brought it into my office and set it on my desk. “What do you have there, Ace?” JR asked.

“Do you have a magnifying glass buddy?”

JR looked in his desk drawer. “Here you go Ace.”

I took the glass and tried to read the serial number. “Write these numbers down JR.”

“I’m ready,” He replied

I called out every number I could read but when JR entered the number into the computer, we learned we were one digit light. “Here, why don’t you try JR,” I said.

JR came over and I sat at the computer. I typed every number JR called out. “Is that everything?” I asked.

“That’s all, Ace.”

I hit the enter key and oh what a surprise I had. “Come look at this JR.”

“Holy shit Ace, are you sure about this?” JR asked.

“That’s what the records show.” I answered. “But it’s not the name Dylan gave me.”

“I think you might want to get ATF involved.” JR said scratching his head.

“I remember an ATF agent who we have dealt with before; he might be willing to give us a hand here.”

I had to do a little digging but finally found his name then placed the call. “ATF, Special Agent Horner speaking.”

“Miles, this is Rich Mason.”

“Well hello there, how’s things with the Secret Service?”

“Same old stuff buddy. I could use your help with a small problem.”

“Sure, I’ll be glad to if I can.”

“Did you hear about the shooting in front of the White House today?” I asked.

“Hell, who hasn’t?” Miles said. “That’s been the talk of the office here so what can I do to help?”

“Well, the weapon that guy had traces back to Florida. The suspect is a twenty five year old male according to the ID we found on him.”

“Did you say Florida?” Miles asked.

“I sure did. The suspect’s name is José Salina and he has a Tampa address. The agent that took him out had our forensics team get his prints just to be on the safe side.”

“How long will you be in your office?” Miles asked.

“All day,” I answered.

“Alright, I’ll be right over.

“Thanks buddy; I’ll let the guard at the gate know you’re on the way so he can let you in.”

“I’ll see you soon.”

JR was sitting there watching the goings on. “That seemed to have gone well.”

I smiled and nodded my head. “That it did.”

“How come you didn’t tell him the serial number had been tried to be removed?”

“He’ll see that for himself. Besides, I’d really like to know what those prints will tell us.”

“It is odd someone so young would spend a fortune on the AR15 then come here and use the residence for target practice.” JR replied.

“I know and it sucks we couldn’t get him alive.”

I was about to get a cup of coffee when my cell rang. “Agent Mason, are you expecting someone from ATF?”

“I sure am, is that Miles Horner?” I asked.

“Yes it is,” the guard said.

“Have an officer escort him to the West Wing, please.”

“Right away Agent Mason,” the guard responded then ended the call.

I stepped out and waited at the door for our guest to arrive. I saw a cruiser pull up followed by an unmarked car. I went outside and pointed to a parking place then waited for Miles. “Hi Ace, it’s been a while.”

“That it has my friend.”

“So what’s with this weapon you want my help with?”

“It’s an AR15. We wanted the shooter alive but sadly he didn’t want to cooperate.”

“Sometimes they don’t. Let’s see this weapon.”

We walked into the West Wing then I brought him to our office. “Agent Horner, do you remember Agent Carl?”

The two men shook hands. “I do, are you still with NCIS?”

“No, I’m with the Secret Service now. Can you help us with this weapon?”

“Sure, let me take a look at it.” He said as I handed Miles the weapon then he started to examine it. “This guy did a crappy job at trying to remove the serial number. Did you say you got some prints?”

“That I did,” I answered handing him the prints.

“These are really good. Do you have a computer I can borrow?”

JR got him set up then showed Miles where the scanner was. JR helped Miles get the prints scanned then Miles went to work. I got Miles a cup of coffee then sat back and watched him work. A few minutes later, his screen started flashing. “What’s going on?”

“I got a hit on those prints.” Miles replied. “Those prints belong to a convicted felon.”

“What the hell?” I almost shouted. “How can that be?”

Just then I heard the printer start. “The man’s real name is Nathan Rodriguez. He’s 20 years old and was recently released from the Miami Dade Correctional Institute.”

“Miles, how the hell did a convicted felon get his hands on an assault rifle?”

“I don’t know but I do intend on finding out,” Miles said as he started typing on the keyboard.

He was at it for several minutes then I saw him stand up and shut the computer down. “What’s wrong buddy?”

“I’m going to have to take this rifle with me. I’m going to have to do some old fashioned digging.”

“Don’t they have files computerized?” JR asked.

“Not enough of them. The damn politicians and the NRA think computerized record keeping invades their right to bear arms.”

“That isn’t an absolute right,” I said.

“I agree,” Miles started. “But tell that to a few of those idiotic law makers. I’m going to take this back to the Bureau. As soon as I can track the former owner of this rifle down, he’s going to have a few questions to answer.”

I transferred the weapon from our custody over to the ATF then Miles went back to his office. It was almost lunch time so I returned to the residence. As I was walking down the hall Tonka was trotting up to greet me. The way he was walking told me where he needed to go. I took him out so he could do his business then it was time for lunch. Bennie and Brenda were finishing up their computer lesson then Bennie and I got our hands washed.

Gloria made a feast for us with her Mexican hamburgers and loads of fries. When we were finished Bennie took me by the hand and led me to the bedroom. “What’s on your mind baby?”

“When gramma and I were in the dining room, she’d mentioned about wanting to go off for a little while this afternoon.”

“Where does she want to go?” I asked so I could get an idea of how many agents we’d need.

Bennie turned red then said, “Well, she kinda thought about Taylor’s.”

I smiled at him. “She thought that or did you drop a few hints yourself?”

“She said it Ace, honest.”

“Alright love, you know I’m going to have to ask your dad first.”

“I already did.” Bennie replied.

I didn’t doubt him but I had to hear for myself Ben was alright with us leaving the grounds. “Let me let your dad know we’re leaving.” I said then called Ben’s office. “Frank, is the President busy?”

“Not really Ace but he’s not in a good mood though.”

“Should I ask what I missed?”

“Nothing my friend, he’s just learning more about the shooting this morning.”

“We got the shooter and he didn’t seem upset when we had breakfast this morning so what’s going on?”

“I take it you haven’t had the television on.” Frank asked.

“Nope, I’ve been too busy. What’s going on?”

“When it was learned the shooter was a convicted felon the gun control lobbyists came out of the woodwork followed by the gun rights activists.”

“Oh great but I’d love to know how that nut case managed to buy that rifle to begin with.”

“That is a good question. Hold on, I’ll put you through.” Frank said.

“Yes Ace.”

“Sir, would you have a problem with Brenda taking Bennie and Chris to Taylor’s?”

“Bennie had mentioned that to me so no, I don’t have a problem.”

“Alright, where is Chris?”

“He’s been down in the bedroom.”

“Why, he’s welcome to join everyone out here.”

“I think he’s a little shy around Brenda.”

“He’ll need to get used to the family.” I said giggling.

“Ace, Chris has always been shy but I think he’ll come out of his shell.”

I ended the call then told Bennie to get Chris while I rounded up some agents to form a security detail. I called Dylan Masters and had him get a few of his counter assault agents to follow in their specialized Hummer. I saw Dusty then motioned him over. “Have you seen Pete since the graduation?”

“Umm well, he asked if he could have today off so he could be with Evelyn at the hospital. I hope that’s not a problem.”

“No it’s not considering we have guests but I do need to know what’s going on with Evelyn.”

“He sees me every day so the next time I see him, I’ll find out. If she should die, will the Service be there at her funeral?”

“I doubt it considering she left the agency in disgrace, but that would be a decision for Ed and the President. Look, can you get Dusty, JR and Marshall? Mrs. Schultz wants to take Bennie and Chris over to Taylor’s.”

“Alright, give me a couple of minutes. What vehicle are we going to use?”

“We’ll use the Hummer. I’ve got Dylan Masters to get some of his men to follow in their vehicle.”

“That sounds adequate Ace.”

I gave Dusty the keys so he could pull it in place then I returned to the residence to get everyone ready to go. On my way Ben called. “Yes Sir.”

“When are you leaving?” Ben asked.

“I’ve got the security team set up and I’m on my way back to the residence to get Bennie, Brenda and Chris. Would you like something?”

“I know I shouldn’t but I can’t resist their milkshakes.”

“What flavor would you like?”

“Strawberry if that’s not a problem.”

“No Sir, no problem at all. We’ll be back as soon as possible.”

As soon as I entered the residence, I ended the call with Ben. I saw Bennie and Chris talking then they saw me. “Grandma’s in her room.”

“Is she ready to go?” I asked.

“I don’t know baby.” Bennie answered.

I went to the Queen’s bedroom then knocked on the door. Brenda opened the door and I could tell she was a little peeved. “What’s wrong ma’am?”

“Ace, I’m a grown woman. I’m quite capable of taking my grandson out for ice cream.”

“I know you are Brenda but Bennie is the son of the President and as such, the Secret Service has to escort him when we leave the residence.”

“Why?” she almost demanded.

“It is protocol and it’s not up for discussion. Now, do I need to call Ben?”

“No Ace, that won’t be necessary. Let me get my purse then we can go.”

We headed out to the living room. “Look on the bright side, you get to be chauffeured in style and have some great looking guys as your escort.”

“I guess I could get used to that.” She said smiling.

“Should I find you a nice Jewish agent? I asked.

“So now you’re playing match maker?”

“Not on a dare but Bennie just wants to see you happy too.”

Everyone was ready so we took the elevator down to the ground floor. I was debating whether or not to bring Tonka but there was plenty of room in the Hummer so he came too. When we got out of the elevator, Dusty, Johnny, JR and Marshall were there and I saw the black Hummer behind mine. Johnny got the doors open then we escorted our guests to the vehicle. Once everyone was inside, we headed for the back gate. I called the officer and the gate was open for us then we headed to Taylor’s.

Traffic wasn’t all that bad for a summer afternoon in DC so it only took us a short while to get to the store. I lucked out and there were two parking places in front of the store so I pulled in then Dylan parked behind me. His men get out and came up to my Hummer then Johnny, Dusty, JR, Marshall and me exited. Once we were in place I got Brenda, Bennie and Chris out and we entered the store. The young man behind the recognized me. “Hi Agent Mason, would you like your usual?”

Bennie looked at me. “Your usual?”

“Umm, well I do stop in from time to time.” I stuttered.

Bennie punched me on the shoulder. “And you never brought me anything.”

I was in deep Kiamichi and I was going to have to get myself out of it. “The times I stopped you were in school.”

Bennie had his arms folded across his chest. “I’ll let it slide this time but don’t let it happen again.”

I wrapped my arms around him and gave him a little squeeze. “I won’t forget.”

The guy took our order then I added a strawberry milkshake for Ben. Once the orders were filled, Brenda paid for everything and the agents got themselves something too. Dusty held on to my shake then we left the store and we got everyone back into the Hummer. The car in front of me left so it made getting out into traffic really easy.

On the way back to the residence, Brenda, Bennie and Chris were chatting up a storm. Before we knew it we were pulling back into the residence. Once we parked, Chris and Brenda went up to the residence while Dusty took Ben his milkshake. Bennie and I were with Tonka while he did his business then my cell rang, “Mason.”

“Agent Mason, there is a female here wishing to see Ms. Schultz.”

“Do you have her identification?”

“I do, her name is Carla Schultz. Should I let her in?”

“Did you say Carla Schultz?”

As soon as I said that Bennie was looking at me. “That I did Agent Mason.” The guard answered.

“Ace, let her in.”

I told the gate officer to hold on to her ID and I’d get back to him then ended the call. “Bennie, your Dad has already said he doesn’t want her here.”

“I want to see her.” Bennie shot back.

I got Tonka then we headed for the gate. When we came up, Carla started her barrage. “Let me in Bennie.”

“Carla, you were told you weren’t welcome here so why did you come?”

“Can’t I see my nephew?” She shot back.

Since we were well away from the residence I didn’t think it would hurt anything if she and Bennie talked outside. I looked at the officer then nodded my head so he opened the gate and let her in. Bennie took a couple steps towards her. “Alright Aunt Carla, what is it you want?”

“What do I want? You above everyone should know what I want. I intend on telling the world here how you’re a big fucking faggot.”

"If that isn't the fuckin' pot calling the kettle black, just like a bull dyke!"

Bennie was standing closer than I really wanted then Carla took a swing at Bennie. That proved to be a huge mistake because he got her by the wrist then quickly had it behind her back. Using his weight to his advantage he quickly got her face down onto the ground. I pulled my cuffs out then took control of Carla. I quickly cuffed her then the gate officer called for a patrol car. Bennie and I helped her to her feet. “Carla, why did you have to swing on Bennie? That sure wasn’t the brightest thing you’ve ever done.”

“Let me go you fag.” Carla screamed.

“Carla that’s enough,” I said as a patrol car arrived.

The officer and I changed out our cuffs then she was taken to the DC jail for be booked in for attempted assault. “I have her Agent Mason.” The patrol officer said.

He put her into his car then left the property. “Bennie, I’m going to have to tell your Dad about this.”

“It’s alright Ace, I’ll do it. I see why he didn’t want her here.”

“That’s right baby and I know he’s going to be steamed as well as your grandmother.”

Bennie hugged me as the three of us headed back to the residence. “Man, this just isn’t my day.”

I gave him a kiss on his cheek. “Don’t worry love, we all have days like this.”

Bennie, Tonka and I took a leisurely walk back to the residence then Tonka decided he wanted to play. Bennie and Tonka had a nice romp on the grass then Bennie decided it was time to get inside where it was cooler.

Bennie spent the rest of the afternoon with Chris and Brenda while I took care of some paperwork down in the office. I’d been down there for about thirty minutes when my cell rang. “Mason.”

“Agent Mason, Agent Horner is here.”

“Let him in and tell him to park where he did this morning.”

I ended the call then went outside to find out what brought him back so soon. He got out of his car and had a stack of papers with him. “Hi Ace, I bet you didn’t think you’d see me back so soon.”

He was right. “You’re right Miles, what beings you back?”

“You’re not going to believe what I managed to find out.”

“After this day I’ll believe just about anything.” I said then we walked inside to the office then Miles and I went into my office.

I closed the door then Miles tossed a file on my desk. Before I looked at it I fixed a cup of coffee. I sat down then opened the folder and started reading. I started thumbing through the mass of papers. I had this confused look on my face. “What’s wrong Ace?”

I scratched the top of my head then took a sip of my coffee. “Alright, where is the Federal Firearms Form?”

He shook his head. “It wasn’t needed.”

“What, how can that be?” I asked.

“The gun in question was sold at a gun show and the seller was the owner of the rifle.”

“Wait a minute, you mean to tell me that a private citizen can basically sell a weapon to anyone no questions asked?”

“Pretty much,” Miles replied.

“This is totally crazy. Anyone with a fake ID and cash can buy a gun without any scrutiny, is that right?”

“It is in Florida.”

“This is bullshit.” I said then took out my cell phone. “Frank, is the President free?”

“Hold on Ace, I’ll check.” Frank answered then put me on hold. “He’s going over something with Isaac but he’ll see you.”

“Thank you; tell him I’m on my way.” I replied then ended the call. “Come on Miles.”

Miles gave me a strange look then followed me as we headed to the Oval Office. When we went into the outer office, Frank picked up the phone. “He’ll be right with you.”

I was about to sit down when the door to the Oval Office opened and Ben motioned for us to enter, “What’s on your mind Ace?”

“Agent Horner found out more about that rifle used in today’s shooting.”

Ben looked over at Miles and I thought he was going to faint. “What did you find out?”

“Well Mr. President, the weapon was sold at a gun show in Florida and there was no paperwork of any kind required.”

“How the hell can that be?” Ben asked sternly.

“It’s not required there. The seller wasn’t a licensed dealer but a private citizen so all that was needed was ID and the cash.”

“Was there a bill of sale?” Ben asked.

Miles shook his head. “No Sir, that wasn’t done.”

“This is totally ridicules.”

“I agree Sir. Somehow those loopholes have to be closed and everyone made to undergo a Federal Background check.”

“The gun lobbyists aren’t going to like that.” I said.

“I don’t give a damn Agent Mason. I’ll be damn if we’re going to make it easier for convicted felons to be able to get their hands on guns and ammo.”

“I don’t disagree with you Sir and personally, I’d love to see things changed so maybe things like what happened this morning won’t ever happen again.”

“I’ll do what I can.” Ben said, and I thought it was time for use to leave.

Miles and I returned to the office then Miles got his briefcase together and headed back to his office. I walked Miles to his car then on the way out of the West Wing, I was stopped by a reporter. “Agent Mason, may I have a minute please?”

I hated the press. “What is it?” I asked rather curtly.

“I was wondering if I may be able to get a statement about what happened today.”

“Right now, I’m not at liberty to speak but I will ask the President if I can release a statement.”

I went back to my office and the reporter was hot on my heels. When I stepped inside, she tried to follow until I pointed to the sign that read, “Authorized Personnel Only.”

“I called Ben and told him the situation. He gave me the green light to say whatever I wanted as long as it was factual.”

When I stepped out of the office, I was mobbed. “Agent Mason, can we get a statement?”

“What is it you want to know?” I asked.

“What can you tell us about the shooting here at the White House today?”

“The shooter was killed by one of our Secret Service agents.”

“Who was he?” The reported fired.

“The shooter was tentatively identified as a 25 year old Floridian named José Salina. Subsequent investigation later identified him as 20 year old Nathan Rodriguez, who happened to be a convicted felon.”

Everyone gasped at that. “How did he manage to get hold of a weapon?”

“He purchased it at a gun show from a private individual.”

“You mean he didn’t have to have a background check?”

“Nope, all he had to do was show some ID and put down the cash. It also seems he bought some ammunition from the person he bought the rifle from.”

“Why is that allowed?”

“Well currently only Federally Licensed Firearm Dealers have to do a background check on anyone that wants to buy a rifle, pistol or a shotgun. The law also mandates that you must be over the age of 21 to legally purchase a handgun.”

“Don’t you think everyone should have to have a background check before they are allowed to buy a gun?”

“Personally I do but there are politicians who think subjecting people to background checks are intruding on a person’s right to bear arms.”

A hand shot up. “Agent Mason, the Second Amendment gives us the right to keep and bear arms.”

“That Amendment gives us the privilege to buy a weapon but it’s not an absolute right.”

“How can you say that? The Constitution…”

I stopped him at that point. “The right to own a firearm is not absolute; neither is the right to operate a motor vehicle.”

“I happen to disagree with you.” The male reporter shot back.

“You can disagree all you want but until you study the law you’ll then learn differently. What happens if you get too many tickets, get into too many accidents or a number of DUI convictions?”

“Your license will be suspended.” The reporter answered.

“Exactly; now along that same line if you are convicted of a felony should you still have the right to possess a firearm?”

Everyone was staring at him waiting for his answer, “No, of course not.”

“So now you see that the right to keep a firearm is not absolute.”

“Well, when you put it like that I do.” He said.

I looked at my watch and saw it was getting late. “That’s all the questions I have time for.”

With that, the news hounds left and I returned to the residence. When I entered I was mobbed. “Hey love, you were on the TV.”

“Oh great,” I said a little too loudly. “I didn’t think they’d break in and do a live feed.”

“You were great baby,” Bennie said hugging me tightly. “I loved the way you put that guy in his place.”

“I just hope your dad feels the same way.” I said hoping I wasn’t politically incorrect.

Gloria came out and told us dinner was almost ready so everyone left to get washed up. When Bennie and I returned, Ben was sitting at the table having a cup of coffee. I felt my ass suck wind not knowing what he was going to say. “Good evening Sir.” I said then fixed a cup of coffee.

“Good evening Ace,” Ben replied smiling as I sat down. “I saw the news conference.”

‘I’m a dead man,’ I thought.

“I hope I didn’t embarrass you Sir,” I said contritely.

“On the contrary Ace, you handled yourself remarkably well. I loved how you handled that male reporter.”

“I just wonder how much grief you’ll catch from the Republicans.”

“Ace, the way you handled yourself I don’t see them being able to say much of anything. If they do, they will come off as being lax on background checks.”

“Well Sir, with all due respect, that loophole needs to be closed and fast.”

“I don’t disagree with you and I do intend on trying to do something about it.”

After dinner, I was called down to the office by Dusty. I told Ben and Bennie that I would be right back then headed to the West Wing. When I entered, Pete and Dusty were sitting there. “Hi Pete,” I said as I closed the door.

He had a blank expression on his face. “Ace she didn’t make it.”

I let out a deep breath. “Pete, I’m really sorry. When did she pass away?”

“This afternoon about 3 o'clock,” Pete replied.

“Why didn’t you call?” I asked.

“There really wasn’t anything you could do and you have guests at the residence.”

“Have you spoken to Ed?”

“Not yet but if he’s still in his office, I’d like to.”

I pulled my cell out and called Ed. “Yes Ace?” Ed said answering his phone.

“Are you still in your office?”

“I was just finishing up a few things, what’s up?”

“Well, Pete Morgan is here and Evelyn passed away.”

I heard him sigh. “I’m sorry to hear that but she made her own bed.”

“I know Ed but they were brother and sister. How much bereavement leave does an agent get?”

“I’ll have to double check but I think it’s like two weeks.”

“Does he need to see you in person?”

“No, we’ve known she was touch and go so I can’t submit the papers to payroll.”

“Alright Ed and if he needs more time, I’ll donate my two weeks. This renews itself annually, right?”

“I believe so but I’ll have to look to be sure. Since tomorrow is Sunday, I’ll make the leave start on Monday.”

“Thanks Ed, I know Pete will appreciate this too.”

“Ace, you know the Service can’t participate in the funeral.”

“I understand that totally and besides, we have guests here.”

“I know, so you all have your hands full.” Ed replied.

I ended the call then rejoined Dusty and Pete. “I just spoke to Ed. You have two weeks bereavement leave starting Monday. I’m giving you tomorrow off too.”

Pete stood up to shake my hand then I saw him start to lose it so I wrapped my arms around him and let him break down. Pete was crying so hard his legs started to shake and get weak then Dusty quickly wrapped his arms around him and together we held onto him. After about fifteen minutes he finally had cried himself out. I got him a cup of coffee so he could recompose himself. After several minutes he looked at me. “How can I thank you Ace? I know sis really tried to screw you, Bennie and the President over.”

“That she did Pete but I can’t keep living in the past. If I do, I’m useless as an agent and to the President and Bennie.”

“Ace, you’re one of a kind. I don’t know how or why I treated you like I did but please know how truly sorry I am.”

“That’s in the past now Pete. You’ve proven yourself as the agent I knew you could be. Look, you take care of burying Evelyn. Did she happen to have any life insurance?”

“Yes, our parents had policies on both of us and we have a family plot in Colorado so I won’t have to worry about all of that.”

“You’ll just need a copy of the death certificate so the insurance company can pay the death benefits. Did your sister have a will?”

Pete nodded his head. “Yeah, when we joined the service our Dad recommended we do that so we named our parents first then each other.”

“It sounds like you have that much covered.”

“Yeah,” Pete said softly.

“Look buddy, you take the time you need. I told Director Miller if you needed more than two weeks, I’d donate my time to you.”

“Thank you so much Ace. I better get going, I need to get some sleep. Tomorrow I have to go back to the hospital and talk with the coroner.”

“Alright Pete, if there is anything I can do, let me know.”

“Thanks Ace. Will you let the President know for me please?”

“I will buddy, you take care now.”

I gave Pete a big hug then returned to the residence. Everyone was in the living room watching television so I stopped by Ben and whispered into his ear. “Could I have a minute Sir?”

Ben got up and followed me into the dining room. I fixed a cup of coffee then sat down. “Sir, Evelyn Morgan passed away about three this afternoon.”

Ben’s eyes looked down. “I’m sorry for Pete.”

Just then I heard a voice behind me. “Personally I’m glad she’s dead.”

My head snapped around. “Bennie, why are you eavesdropping?”

He was caught like a deer caught in headlights. “I...uh...wanted to know what was going on.”

“Love, not everything that goes on is for your knowledge.” I said very sternly.

“Benjamin, if you ever eavesdrop again, you’ll spend a month in your room, do we understand each other?”

“Dad I’m not a little kid.” Bennie said in defense.

“I know that but there are things that are said in here that are not for your ears. How many times do we have to tell you?”

“Dad I’m going to be an agent.”

“Yes you will be someday but that’s at least five years down the road. When you become an agent, not everything that goes on will you know about.”

“Why not,” Bennie asked.

“Because if it doesn’t pertain to you, it’s none of your business,” I answered.

“Benjamin, I’m really disappointed in you. Your comment was in very poor taste.”

“Why, she tried to screw over you and Ace so I don’t feel I owe her anything.”

“I agree Son,” Ben started. “But we never say we’re glad someone is dead. What about Pete, do you want to see him going through that pain dealing with the loss of his sister? I know I raised you better.”

Bennie just stood there in total silence thinking about what Ben had said. “I’m sorry Dad. I am glad she is out of our lives though.”

“That’s fine and personally I’m glad for that too.” I said as Bennie came over and wrapped his arms around me. “Now go back into the living room with your grandmother and Chris.”

“Sometimes I don’t know what I’m going to do with him.” Ben said to me.

“He’s growing Sir and trying to be an adult. Add to it he’s the son of the President so he’s shouldering a big load.”

“I know that Ace but still he needs to mind his tongue. Now, I want Pete to have the time he needs to grieve so when he returns, he’s ready.”

“He has two weeks bereavement leave and if he needs more time I’ve offered to donate my two weeks. I think a few others would step up also.”

“Alright but I want him back here at full strength.”

“I know Sir and I’ve told him that and I don’t think he’ll return until he’s sure he’s ready.”

Ben nodded his head. “Are you finished for the evening?”

I finished my coffee. “Yes Sir, as far as I know there isn’t anything else pending that needs my attention.”

“Alright then let’s get back to the living room so we can have a quiet evening.”

Ben and I returned to the living room and Bennie patted the cushion on the love seat so I joined him. He scooted over then cuddled next to me. I saw Brenda looking at us and she just smiled. As soon as Ben sat down, Chris took a similar position against him. We spend a very quiet evening watching television then, after the news, it was time to get some sleep.

Hugs and kisses were given then Bennie and I headed for our room. Chris and Ben retired to Ben’s room where they stripped and took a shower. As soon as they were under the spray, they melted into passionate embrace. Ben felt Chris’s dick come to life so he reached down and began to stroke it. Chris returned the favor to Ben then both quickly exploded into mind-blowing orgasms. Chris was breathing hard but managed to get out, “God baby, I sure didn’t want that to happen.”

“I know what you mean; I so wanted to feel you inside me tonight.”

“Love, are you sure? I don’t want to hurt you.”

“I am love and you won’t hurt me.” Ben replied pulling his lover into a passionate kiss.

With Chris being younger than Ben the kissing brought Chris’s dick back to life. Ben felt the organ gently poking him in the balls. Chris stepped back and smiled. “Man love, you have some effect on me.”

Ben was smiling. “Good, now you can make love to me.”

Chris thought for a moment. “Alright love but I’m not going to hurt you. You have to tell me if I’m hurting you.”

Ben leaned down and kissed his lover. “I promise baby.”

They quickly got each other clean then Chris grabbed a dry towel and brought it with him to the bedroom. The two of them fell into a passionate embrace then they got comfortable on the bed. Ben was working his tongue in Chris’s mouth while his hands caressed his lover’s nipples. Chris started to feel his balls churn and this was one release that wasn’t going to happen outside Ben’s love chute. “Slow down love. I’m far from ready to blow yet.”

Chris rolled Ben onto his back and started working on his lover’s hot spots. After about five minutes, Ben was moaning in pleasure. “Oh love, put it in me please.”

Those were the words Chris needed to hear so while he was still turning Ben on, he started working on his chute. Chris began to work a lubed finger into Ben’s hole then after several minutes, he inserted another. “How does that feel my love?”

“Oh darling I’m so hot, I have to feel you in me.”

Chris squirted a little more lube around Ben’s hole then inserted three fingers. He heard Ben moan. “Are you alright?”

“Oh yeah, I felt you hit my prostate and it was like a large jolt of electricity going through my body.”

Chris continued to stretch Ben’s chute until Ben’s hips started bucking wildly. Chris put his other hand on the small of Ben’s back as he removed his fingers. He took the towel and put it over a pillow then had Ben place it under his stomach. Ben tried to roll over when Chris held him firm. “Not yet love. I want you to get used to having me inside you before I consider letting you on your back. Are you ready?”

“Oh yes love, put it in.”

Chris lubed his pole then spread Ben’s cheeks. His hole was open some after the stretching so Chris placed the head of his dick against it. Ben tried to thrust backwards but Chris held him. “Don’t love this is going to take a while.”

Ben relaxed then Chris slowly began to enter Ben’s chute. Ben’s hole seemed to pull Chris in so Chris slid past the first muscle. “Umm love,” Ben moaned.

Chris stayed there for several minutes to allow Ben to get used to his dick. Chris then started to slide deeper into his lover. Inch by inch, Chris slid in deeper and when he hit Ben’s love button Ben moaned a little louder. “Are you alright?”

“Oh yes lover, I’m fine!” Ben answered.

Chris started to slowly make love to Ben. After about ten minutes Chris was buried deep in Ben’s hole. Chris kept his pace nice and slow then he felt his balls start to churn. Chris tried to slow things down but he was past the point of no return. Chris started to pick the pace up a little then he felt the end nearing. “Oh baby, I’m going to shoot.”

“Yes love, do it.” Ben said then he began to shoot his load onto the towel.

When Ben shot, his hole clamped down on Chris’s dick causing him to explode. Chris let out a loud moan as he filled Ben with his seed. After Chris’s balls were empty, he collapsed on Ben’s back. “Oh my god love, that was fantastic.”

Ben was still breathing hard from his orgasm. “It sure was my darling. Next time I want to be on my back so I can see you as you make love to me.”

Chris started to feel his dick going soft so he managed to get some of the towel in between Ben’s legs. Once this was done, his dick slipped out of his lover and Chris held onto the towel as he slid besides Ben. “I think you should get into the bathroom love, I really filled you up.”

Ben started to feel Chris’s juice start to leak so he held the towel tightly in between his legs then hurried into the bathroom. Ben sat on the toilet and expelled his lover’s load then stepped into the shower to finish cleaning himself up. Chris heard the water start then he went in to join Ben. Chris wrapped his arms around Ben. “How do you feel baby?”

Before Ben could answer, he leaned down and spread Ben’s cheeks. Chris could see Ben’s hole was open just a little and the ring was a little red but other than that, there was no real damage done. “God love that felt so wonderful. I even shot into the towel.”

Chris stood up then kissed Ben gently. “Next time, I want you in me.”

“Are you sure, I’m pretty big around.”

“Oh yes and don’t worry about that. I have a toy at home that’s bigger around than you are.”

“Oh?” Ben asked in surprise. “Is that what you use when you jerk off?”

Chris smiled. “That and fantasies of you doing it to me.”

Ben reached out and hugged his lover. They got cleaned up then dried each other before returning to bed for a good night’s sleep.
