A lot more was said and done that evening but when they finally did fall to sleep, they did not wake up until almost noon.

I awoke around 8. At 9, I was wondering if those three were still alive so I went upstairs and quietly opened the door. All three cuddled together sleeping soundly so I closed the door, went back down stairs and finished my coffee. Tomorrow was back to the grind for all of us. I had work and the boys had school. Davey was spending one of his few weekends here with us since her has to live at home during the school year.

Chapter 6

A New Development

Finally at 9:30, I heard the sounds of someone alive. It was Bryce; all he had on was his robe and a smile.

Looking like the cat that ate the canary, I asked. "So, what's up?"

As soon as he heard me speak, Bryce came over and hugged me and I soon learned the answer to my question. "Man, those two wore me out last night."

I looked at him and said, "I don't need all the details. Did you enjoy yourself?"

Bryce just smiled nodded his head. Somehow I had my answer. I poured him a cup of coffee and set it at his chair. "Are you ready for class to start tomorrow evening?" I asked sitting down beside him.

Bryce sipped his drink. "Yeah and I wonder who will be teaching?"

"I don't know. I can find out when I go in tomorrow if you would like?" I answered.

Bryce thought for a minute and said. "It doesn’t really matter. I don't know any of them any way."

He didn't have a clue, I thought. Dave and I are two of the instructors for first responder and EMT program, but I didn't think I'd have this class. I should be up for the one after his.

I started to say something when Davey and Jimmy made their entry. "It's alive!" I said poking fun at Jimmy.

His hair looked like he had stuck a wool knit hat on his head for a few hours while his hair was still wet. Hair was going in every direction possible and his eyes were barely open. You'd have thought he had a hangover. "Ugh, Dad. Coffee, please."

"Did we have a hard night?" I asked adding a little something extra on the word "hard".

Davey looked at me and grinned while fixing his love's drink. Jimmy looked like death over easy so I thought I would spare him my usual pleasantries. After setting Jimmy's coffee on the table, Davey began to fix breakfast for all three.

"You guys have anything on tap for today?" I asked hoping I could have a day of rest.

Bryce looked up and said. "I don't. I thought I'd watch some TV."

Jimmy and Davey remembered they still had some homework to finish when Bryce was speaking. "Darn." Davey said. "We need to finish that report or Mr. Cole will have our hide."

I decided not to ask because I wasn't ready for what I might get started as I set my coffee cup in the sink.

The boys finished their food and washed the dishes before going their own way. Bryce came in and sat on the couch and started channel surfing looking for something to watch while the other two went upstairs to attack their report.

The day went quite uneventful. Davey and Jimmy finally reappeared from their self imposed exile to their bedroom. I had to laugh Jimmy still looked like death warmed over. He tried to sit on the arm of my recliner but in his current state, semi comatose; he missed the mark by a mile and landed on my groin.

"Oomph!" I groaned.

Bryce sat up. "Dad, what's wrong?"
With a very high squeak, I said. "Oh, nothing. What make you think something was wrong?"

Davey pulled Jimmy off me while Bryce tried to get me to stand. This only served to make matters worse. He wrapped his arms around my waist and held on while my color returned from pale gray to white. I felt him wipe my forehead with his hand. I had broke out into a major sweat. "C'mon, Dad. Breath." I heard a voice say but wasn't sure where it was.

I shook my head and cleared the cob webs. I looked at Jimmy and saw tears starting to fall. I reached for him and wiped his face.

"It's alright, son." I said reassuring him I wasn't mad. Little did he know that I didn't have the strength at that particular point in time to do anything more than I already was. "I don't use them anymore."

Jimmy came over and put his arm around me. "I'm really sorry dad. I was trying to sit on the arm."

I knew what he was trying to do and it wasn't to castrate me although I think he did succeed. "I know, son. You're innocent this time." I thought that if he doesn't make it as a pediatrician, he could always work as a vet turning stallions into geldings.

I stood there holding Jimmy in one arm while Bryce was coaxing my balls out of my stomach with arms around my waist when Jimmy whispered. "I'm hungry Dad. What's for supper?"

Never let it be said that my boy could ruin a perfectly good Hallmark moment. It also meant that I had to move and that was almost impossible. I looked like I had just spent ten days on a horse's back with a leather saddle for a seat cushion. My legs were slightly spread so I could at move without doing further damage to my already bruised ego and gonads.

I was just about to ask what everyone wanted for dinner when Davey came up behind me and popped me on my ass and asked. "Feeling better now, Pop?"

Considering I had nearly been almost castrated, I thought well hell. I just got denutted and then had them shoved back down where they belong, so yeah son I feel just ducky. Then I let out another little "sure, fine." in a barely audible squeak.

Bryce turned around and glared at Davey.

Davey suddenly remembered what he did. "Oh shit. Pop! I'm sorry. Please believe....."

I reached out and pulled him to me and kissed his cheek. "It's OK, sport. Just don't jostle the lower half of my body for a while."

Bryce got the keys to the Ram and we decided to go out for dinner. We went to the corral for dinner and had the buffet. I let the boy's wait on me. Jimmy was more that willing considering all that had happened earlier. When we were ready to leave, I could actually walk again pain free.

Needless to say, my kids know how to give someone a new meaning to the word "pain." On the way back to the house, we dropped Davey off at his house and I thought a warm bath on my aching genitals would be in order. When I opened the door, I saw the answering machine light blinking. I listened to the message and it said I had an important letter in my box at the station. Why call me to do something I do all the time. City employees, aren't they intelligent? Not!

When the bullshit was finished, I went to my bedroom to ease my aching balls into some warm water. I filled up my Jacuzzi, fixed myself a drink and went inside to soak in private. Right? Wrong!

As soon as I opened the door, my god was sitting in the tub wearing only a smile a dad could love. "Watch your legs sexy and keep you hands to yourself." I smiled saying stepping into the tub.

"Aw come on, dad. I won't hurt you, trust me." He said.

I set my drink on the side of the tub and eased down between his legs being sure not to sit on anything. As my aching nuts came in contact with the water, they started to ache again. I eased them into the water along with the rest of me and lied back against my god.

"Feel good Dad?" Bryce asked as he wrapped his arms around me.

"Feels great son." I said resting my head against his shoulder.

"I love you, Dad." Bryce whispered into my ear.

"I love you too, sport." I replied as I felt him start to massage my shoulders. "I'll give you fifteen minutes to stop that."

Bryce never said a word after that but continued to rub my shoulders and neck. I was enjoying this to the max. I was about to doze off when I felt something else. His soft, gentle hand had found its way to my now very hard tool. "Please, son." I begged.

"You don't like this?" Bryce said.

"You know that's not true." I fired back. "Please stop. Please." Too late. "Oh gawd...." Was all I could say. I erupted like a volcano. I sent five giant shots of man juice across my chest, shoulder and on to Bryce. I laid back against my god totally spent and exhausted.

Bryce never said a word. He got the soap and washed the both of us. He got me up out of the tub and dired me off before getting me into bed. Bryce cleaned up the bathroom then quietly went downstairs to watch Jimmy until time for bed. Bryce made sure the house was secure before retiring for the night.

Five AM comes early when you’re exhausted. I went downstairs to put on the coffee as I felt Bryce may not have remembered to set up the pot. Well, guess what....he did.

I returned to my room and did my usual morning ritual. I got into my uniform and proceeded to fix my first cup of wake up juice. At 5:30, I woke Bryce and Jimmy so they would be awake when I had to leave for work at 5:45. When I heard a toilet flush, I knew one of the boys were awake. I saw both boys in their bathrobes come down for a cup of coffee. "Morning Dad." The boys said together.

I was fixing my second cup in my travel mug. "Hi guys. Sleep well?" They each nodded their head as I kissed them good bye on my way out the door. I started the Ram and was off to meet the day.

I went to the kitchen area at the station to fix my final cup of coffee when Dave handed me a sealed envelope. I finished fixing my coffee then proceeded to read this letter.

"Just fucking great!" I said. "This wasn't supposed to happen until next time." I had just been informed that I was to be the lead instructor for the upcoming First Responder's class. I had three weeks to prepare for this class. I know the material since I have taught it before but I like a full thirty days to review my material and check the handouts and visual aids. I will have assistants but I like my things in order. This will blow Bryce's mind. "Are you assigned the class too, Dave?"

Dave nodded his head as we went in duty room. The incoming day shift and outgoing night shift were both talking so I went and checked my vehicle. Someone had used it and left it a mess. I switched the siren on full blast and got everyone's attention. "Who used my vehicle and left it like this?" A rookie paramedic stepped forward.

"You have 15 minutes to clean this vehicle from top to bottom." I barked.

Just then the Squad's captain stepped up and yelled "I gave him permission to use it?"

I fired back. "And leave it like a fucking shit hole? How about I do that to one of your units? Huh? Don't start Captain. You know the rules for the paid staff's equipment. It can be used but it must be returned cleaned, refueled and undamaged. Go look at it!" I was pissed. I just pointed to my new Dodge Ram Charger.

He walked into his office and slammed the door and I was right behind him. "Listen Captain. Don't you ever treat me like that again! You just let him get away with that. I don't ever jump on the volunteers because I know they don't get paid but every person who uses the paid members things know how to return the gear. Why was my unit needed? There are plenty of back up units?"

"The other Dodge went down and no one could get into the office where the spare keys were kept for the extra units. It won't happen again, Mark." He said.

The captain knew I was right and I always respected the volunteers. He knew he was in no position to try to use his rank either. I wore the silver oak leaf of a Lieutenant Colonel to his Captains bars.

Suddenly I heard a voice. "Mr. Thomas, you truck is ready." The young paramedic said.

I saw the Ram shining. The entire shift had the vehicle washed and vacuumed inside and out. I turned and looked at him saying, "Don't you ever smoke in my truck again! Do you read me!?!"

You could have heard a pin drop when I said that. Everyone in the station knew I hate cigarette smoke and it is not allowed in my vehicle.

"Yes sir," Was all he could say.

I walked by Dave. He never said a word because he knew me. Dave was a smoker and he knew I didn't have a problem with that except I would not ride in his vehicle because I couldn't stand the smell. We had learned to adjust over the years and were used to each other.

A great fucking way to start the day. I could only hope the rest of the day went better than it started. It did. Actually the day flew by. It was now 5:50 and I was pulling back into my parking place. During the course of the day, I managed to stop at an auto parts store and purchased several peel and stick signs that said NO SMOKING. I put them in both the front and back seat area and there was even an air deodorizer that said NO SMOKING hanging from the mirror. I hope they got the message.

I signed out and went over to my Ram. I thought about Bryce. I wonder what he will say when he finds out I'm the lead instructor. I'll just level with him and it should be fine. I turned the corner and no one was outside. Yes, I thought. They are actually doing their homework so I don't have to get on their case.

Suddenly the front door burst open and one 12 year old followed by a 15 year old came flying out at mach one. "What in the name of Sweet Fanny Adams is going on? Get over here!!!" I bellowed at the top of my lungs.

Bryce was soaked except for his shorts. I think he may have been in the shower. He came walking over with Jimmy over his shoulder. "Bryce Moore reporting as ordered sir. Permission to flush his head in the loo, sir?" Bryce said giving me an Aussie salute.

"Denied! We don't want to get it clogged." I said. "Now what's going on here? Did he flush the toilet while you were in the shower again?"

Bryce snapped back to attention and said. "Aye, aye. That he did, sir. Not once but twice."

"Ooh!" I said. I thought for a moment about what would be a suitable punishment for Jimmy. Then I said. "You can't flush his head in the toilet but you are free to give him a pink belly."

Bryce snapped to attention and saluted again saying. "Aye, aye sir. Permission to carry on?"

I returned his salute and said. "Granted, but don't leave any bruises." Then I went inside the house as Bryce was giving Jimmy what for on his bare stomach.

After about ten minutes of listening to Jimmy get tortured, I was about to go and break it up when both boys came in and Jimmy was sporting a very red stomach. I asked him. "Did you finally learn your lesson?"

"Never." was all he said.

"Hey get back here." I said.

"Yes sir." Jimmy said.

"Look, I don't want a war between you two because someone might get hurt." I admonished.

"Yeah, he will." Jimmy said heading upstaris.

"Come back down here. I didn't say you were done yet." I started saying.

"What Dad?" Jimmy said now holding his super soaker water rifle.

"Oh no you don't," I said. "Bryce front and center, now!" They appeared in front of me. "Look, this ends right now. Do I make myself clear?"

Both boys hung their heads. "Yes sir." Both said in unison.

"Good. Now go finish your homework. Bryce, wait a minute." I told them.

I handed Bruce the letter I got at work. "Great, everyone will think I'm your pet, Dad." Bryce repiled.

"No they won't." I assured him. "And besides, what father would take it easy on their own child? They want them to be better than everybody else and I'm no exception."

Bryce suddenly looked worried when he realized what I had said. "I think it's going to be a long program." Then he gave me a hug and went back upstairs to finish his work.

Both boys were doing quite well in their classes. Even Jimmy with all his problems in English was passing. Before we knew it, the first First Responder's class was here. I dropped Jimmy at Dave's house and he rode with us to the station. Class was to begin at 1930 hours (7:30 PM) but we knew there would be one or more participants with registration problems so we arrived early.

While Dave and I were taking care of the new students, the rescue squad held its business meeting. There were two people scheduled to take the First Responder's class so the meeting was short and right to the point.

Terry Adams announced there were two people seeking membership into the squad. First was George Grissom, a 42 year old retired Navy Master Chief Hospital Corpsman and Bryce Moore. Since Bryce was 15, there were strict guidelines he had to follow. He had received a copy of the policies when he finished his application. The candidates left the room to await the vote and both were elected. After the election, Terry introduced both new members to the group.

All of station five members who were scheduled to take the first responders course headed across the hall. They checked in with Dave and were told to be in their seats by 7:30. That gave them a fifteen minute break to do what ever they need to and be ready to start.

As soon as my watched beeped letting me know it was time, I began speaking. I introduced myself and recognized Bryce as my son. I informed them that he was simply another student just like everyone else and they would all be treated the same. I introduced the other instructors and gave my usual talk about doing their best and joining a proud organization on volunteers.

Dave had the training for tonight so I just hung around and assisted when necessary. The class went smoother than we had expected. It never seems to fail that sometime during the class, the station alarm would go off and the class would be disrupted while those on duty answered the call.

After the class, Bryce and I stopped at Dave's, to drop him off and get Jimmy. I wanted someone to keep an eye on him so he would get his homework finished. I know he would do his work, but I didn't want to have to be up until 11 while he dilly dallied around.

The classes were proceeding smoothly and the boys were doing well in school. Life had become quite routine. I hadn't had to get on my attorney because of the threats of one Mr. Tom Collins. Although, I still had this nagging suspicion that I hadn't heard the last from this man and I was right.

It was now the first of May and the boys would be getting ready to start taking their final exams in preparation for summer vacation. We had looked forward to a relaxing weekend at home not doing much of anything. I had had a particularly hectic week. I had responded on 15 calls myself and assisted on another 40. Normally I would only handle calls where there were multiple victims, but for some reason, we were very short handed.

I had just awoke and fixed my first cup of coffee when the phone rang. Now I can't organize anything until I have had at least one cup of coffee and now I was expected to carry on a conversation with none. Fat chance, I thought.

"Hello." I managed

"G'day." The voice replied. "Is this Mr. Mark Thomas?"

Thank God for simple questions. I took a quick gulp of wake up juice and said. "Yes, this is he."

"Mr. Thomas, this is Tom Collins. I'm Bryce's father." the voice said.

Suddenly I was very awake. "How did you get my private number?" I bellowed.

"From the solicitor here in Australia," He answered. "I'm in New York right now but I will be landing at your airport in about two and a half hours."

"I hope you don't expect someone to roll out the red carpet when you arrive because that won't happen." I said very sarcastically. "Just what are you planning?"

"I want to see my son." He asked.

"When hell freezes over," I snapped back.

"I have a court order from..." He started but I cut him off.

"You can have an order signed by the Queen herself and it wouldn't matter. We are in America not Australia." I fired back. "So you might as well toodle your ass right back to Sydney and stay the fuck away from here." I slammed the phone down. I did it so hard, I broke the thing. Just great I thought. Now I need a new phone. I went and took the old cordless from the guest room and brought it into the kitchen.

I hadn't realized it but, I had not been very quiet during my conversation with Mr. Collins. In fact, I was shouting at the top of my lungs and I woke up both Jimmy and Bryce. The fact that I woke up Jimmy was significant. You see, he could sleep through an earthquake.

"What was that all about, Dad?" Jimmy asked rubbing his eyes. He was standing there in just his FOL's with his usual morning hard on.

"Yeah Dad, what gives?" Bryce added.

I finished my first cup of coffee and poured my second while trying to figure out how to answer their question. "Well Bryce, a man who claims to be your father is in New York and is one his way here. I know he doesn't have a clue to where we live but still he is on his way." I took a gulp of hot coffee and finished answering they’re question. "I need to contact Mr. Rosen to find out what our options are."

Jimmy looked worried and Bryce had a blank expression on his face. I couldn't read anything from his look.

Jimmy saw that look also and said, "Hey bro, a penny for your thoughts?"

"You'd have change coming back, mate." Bryce answered. "I never knew me Dad and now he wants to waltz in like everything is fine. The bloke took off when he learned me mum was pregnant and never gave her so much as a dime to help. He told her to get rid of it. But you can see what her answer was. As far as I'm concerned, he can just knick off!"

Jimmy came over and put his arm around his waist and held him close saying. "It's OK, man. You're here with us and we won't let anything happen to you."

I picked up the phone and called Neil at home. He was having his coffee likewise. "Neil, sorry to bother you at home but we have a problem here. That guy who is claiming to be Bryce's father is on his way here with an order from an Australian court in Sydney. I don't have any idea what it says. He will land in about two hours and I don't want him anywhere near Bryce."

"I'm afraid it's not that simple Mark." Neil started.

"What the hell are you telling me, Neil?" I shot back. My voice was rising again. You mean he can take my son and I can't do shit about it?"

"I didn't say that, Mark." Neal said in a clam voice. Well I thought, at least one of us was calm. "He can't take Bryce anywhere but the order gives him the right to be heard in court."

I had gulped down my second cup of coffee and was beginning to think rationally. "Look Neil, I told this guy that he had to submit to a blood test to prove his claim of paternity and he flatly refused."

Neil replied. "I know what he said. I spoke with Mr Waters in Australia after you and he tied into it the last time you two spoke."

"Well, what did you expect me to do?" I snapped back. "Just open my front door and say here you go my good man, here's my son now have a nice life!?!"

Neil fired back. "My my, touchy aren't we?"

"Not funny. You know what I went through with Jimmy when his mother died. I'm not about to go through anything like that again." I snipped.

"OK, ok." Neil said. "Here's what I'll do. I meet him at the airport and get him settled into that hotel and find out what it is he actually wants. He may not even want custody. He may just want to visit the boy and spend some time with him."

"No! Unacceptable!" I said. "He will not come in here and upset Bryce with claims that have no basis or fact. I will not put him through that. It's not fair to Bryce."

Neil sighed. He knew he couldn't win here. "Alright, you win Mark. I will find out what he wants and inform him that he must submit to a blood test if he intends on making any claim of paternity."

I sighed. "Finally you heard what I was saying. No blood, no boy! I won't even produce him."

"Alright," Neil said. I'll be in touch."

The boys still had that look as if to say. "OK, what gives?"

I took a deep breath and said. "Here it is. Neil will find out what it is he's up to and inform him that if he intends to make any claim on you Bryce, he must submit to a blood test to prove he is your father. If he is, I don't know what will happen. That's up to the court but since you are almost of legal age, I would think you would have some say in this matter."

Bryce thought about that for a moment and said. "Well Dad, you already know my answer. He can to straight to bloody hell. I don't want anything to do with him."

I thought that this topic had been assaulted enough for one day. "You guys hungry?" I asked. Knowing full well that the only thing these guys like more than food was sex.

They started jumping up and down and hollering when Jimmy looked at Bryce and said. "I don't think you can walk in the looking like that. What do you want to do, scare all the customers away?"

Bryce realized what he was talking about. He shucked his shorts and said with a giggle, "Sure thing mate. More food for rest of us."

He had his bare butt right near my hand. I smacked his ass and he jumped saying. "Hey, what gives?"

"Go get dressed or we stay home." I said trying to look angry.

The boys flew up the stairs and dressed quickly. While things were quiet, I wondered what was going on with Neil and Mr. Collins.

When I was waiting on the boys, I received a call from Davey asking if everything was alright. I told him they were and he said to tell Jimmy that he would see him later. I decided to email Neil a photo of Bryce so that he could see if there was any resemblance in Bryce and this man.

After we returned, Davey came over and the boys went outside to play leaving me to my thoughts. This had to be the longest day of my life. I had almost wished that I was on duty. At least I would have something to occupy my mind.

At 12:30, Neil came over to the house. I let him in and asked him if he wanted some coffee. He passed so I asked him to fill me in.

Neil sat down and opened his briefcase and handed me the order from Australia. He said. "Mark, I am glad you sent me the photograph of Bryce. It made things easier to figure out."

I looked at him and asked. "You don't believe him do you?"

He handed me a photograph of the person who called himself Tom Collins and I'm glad I was sitting down. I gasped when I looked at it. "Holy shit!" I said. "Is this right?" I had always believed that somewhere in this world, we all had a twin.

Neil closed his case and said. "If I hadn't met the man in person I wouldn't have believed him. He did agree to the blood test, Mark."

I sat back and tried to make sense of all I had just learned. The person who said he was Bryce's father was, at least on the surface, telling the truth. What the blood test will confirm may only seal the fact that he is indeed Bryce's blood father. What I needed Neil to do now, is find out why this person suddenly came forward. “Neil, did he say anything that could shed some light on why he has decided to come forward now?"

Neil shook his head no and stood up to leave. "He will be going over to the hospital this afternoon to have the lab draw his blood for the DNA test. The results will take a few days to get the results back. They have Bryce's and his mother’s results on file so when his are done, they will make the comparison and let us know of the results."

Great, school is closed until Thursday while teachers prepare for final exams and had put in for the time off so I would be here to watch the boys. I have just sentenced myself to three days of pure hell. The rest of Saturday went by like we were in slow motion.

Sunday, however was a different story. We all went to church then decided to rent a boat and do a little fishing. I hadn't taken Jimmy in quite some time so he we more than anxious while Davey and Bryce, on the other hand, weren't quite sure of what to make of it all. Once we got out onto the water, they had the time of their life. I had to admit that even I had fun.

Soon the sun was going down and we had a boat full of fish. I called Mary and asked her if she would be willing to prepare dinner. She said she would be happy to since they all loved fresh fish.

Sally began fixing cole slaw and Dave began preparing his famous corn bread. Mary began fixing the batter the fish would be dipped into before frying.

When we got back to the dock, Jimmy and I began cleaning the fish. Bryce checked the boat back in and Davey took all the tackle and stored it in the Ram. In no time, the fish were cleaned, gutted, filleted and put on ice. Then it was on to Dave's house.

When we pulled into the driveway, there were three happy but tired boys. Mary took the container of fish out of the cooler and took it straight to the kitchen. Dave handed me a beer and we went and sat down in the den while the women prepared the feast.

After we stuffed ourselves silly the boys cleaned up the kitchen. We thanked the Anderson's for fixing the catch of the day. Dave admitted that this was something we needed to do again.

By the time we got home, all three of the boys were ready for bed. I did, however, require showers since we all smelled like salt water and fish. I locked the front door and went directly to my shower. My clothes could have been used for bait based on their smell. I stepped into the shower and let the hot water relax every muscle in my body. Soon, however, I felt something else around my body. It was Bryce and he his head buried into my neck nuzzling me.

"I love you, Dad." He hissed into my ear.

The next thing I knew I was locked loaded and ready to fire. I quickly turned around to Bryce and just held him and I fought to regain control of my body. When I felt my flag pole lower, I finished my shower and went to bed. This kid had some effect on me. My prick starts think it's a teen-ager again.

I crawled into bed and had my God spooned against my chest with his back and butt. That was the last thing we knew as we both drifted off to sleep.

To be continued...
