I moved my Hummer into a parking space then got my clothes and took them up to my room and unpacked. About 7:15, Hans was knocking on my door then the two of us had a nice dinner. When we returned, Hans told me he had some studying to do in preparation for class tomorrow. I gave him a quick kiss then went into my room.

Chapter 2

The next day I went out and looked for a laptop computer so I could get online and to see what the job market held. I left the hotel then got a quick breakfast then went computer shopping. My first stop was at CompUSA and I found a couple I liked but they seemed a little steep. I did manage to check the local job market and found San Antonio PD as well as Texas Department of Public Safety were both hiring. I decided to try the Dell Kiosk across the street from the mall. I went to SAPD first and got an application and started filling it out. Once it was done, I was going to drop it off then wait for a phone call but I was surprised when someone from Human Resources took me into his office. “I see you’ve just retired from the Army, Mr. Jennings.”

I hadn’t brought my discharge papers with me because I didn’t think I’d be interviewed. I didn’t know just what I should say with respect to the body fat so I told him like it was. “I was forced into retirement, to be honest. I don’t know how the Docs there calculate body fat but they say I’m 2% over.”

I had worn a form fitting knit shirt and it showed my chest and forearms in a good light. “I can see your arms and chest sir and you don’t look fat to me. Did you pass your physical fitness tests?”

I nodded my head. “Yep and I never failed my shooting qualifications. I was beating men 5 years younger than me on the range and in my PT tests.”

We talked another few minutes then he told me they would be in touch. On my way to Dell, I saw Best Buy so I decided to stop there first. I parked the Hummer and had a little ways to walk to the store. I was heading towards the store when I heard a man yelling. “Stop, I have a warrant for your arrest. Stop, you failed to appear.”

I saw the dude running towards me about 50 yards away with another guy trying to catch him. Now failing to appear was a no-no and it was also a good way to have your bond revoked. He was looking over his shoulder at the guy chasing him and not watching where he was going. Two kids were talking minding their own business and I could see they were going to get bowled over by this fool. “WATCH OUT BOYS, MAD MAN INCOMING!”

The boys heard me and jumped out of the way. Now this guy was pissing me off because he could have cared less about those two kids. I hadn’t hit someone in a long time and right now, he was just about as good as anyone else. I stood beside a cement post and watched as goofy kept heading towards me. When we was about 15 feet from me I charged at him as if he was carrying a football then hit him at full speed with my shoulder in his gut. I drove forward knocking the wind out of him as we landed on the sidewalk.

I sat up and watched the guy lie there trying to catch his breath. The perp tried to sit up and I quickly pushed him back then rolled him over onto stomach. The person chasing him walked up huffing and puffing holding out a pair of handcuffs. “Thanks man, I don’t think I could have caught him. He didn’t appear in court so his bond was revoked and I wasn’t about to lose that money.”

I put the bracelets on him then helped him to sit up. I could see that this guy didn’t get out much at all except to go to the dinner table. “Man, you better get in shape if you’re going to be chasing down jumpers.”

I rolled the perp over on his knees then helped him to his feet. “That fat bastard would never have caught me and where the hell did you come from?”

I bopped the jerk behind his head. “Shut up jerk, no one was talking to you.”

The man handed me a card then took control of the perp. “Looks like you’ve earned the recovery fee mister. I’ll be back in my office in about an hour after I take him over to the jail. You looking for a job?”

I hadn’t thought about chasing down jumpers but it might pay the bills. “Hadn’t really thought about it.”

I helped escort the jerk over the bondsman’s car then watched them leave. I finally managed to make it into Best Buy and they had the same laptops as CompUSA did but they were a little better priced. I still thought they were over priced so I went to Dell. After looking there I finally found my laptop. The one thing I made sure it had was the ability to get the internet wireless. I got a few extra programs, paid the bill then went out to my Hummer. I started the engine then remembered I had yet another stop to make. I reached into my jean’s pocket and pulled out the card. It read “Jack Doyle Bail Bonds.”

I pulled out my cell phone and dialed the number. The number rang several times then a voice came on. “Jack Doyle Bail Bonds.”

I sucked wind then held my breath for a moment trying to decide weather or not I really wanted to get involved with this person. I knew this guy was a stroke on two feet if he ever tried to chase down another jumper but when I hit that perp it felt good. “Mr. Doyle, this is Leland Jennings. I’m the guy that helped catch your perp.”

“Yes Mr. Jennings, I remember you. I’m back in the office. Are you on your way over?”

I thought for a moment and decided what the hell. It couldn’t hurt and I could find the answers to a few questions that were nagging me. “I’m just leaving the mall now. I’ll be there in about half an hour.”

I left the mall and drove into downtown San Antonio. I forgot the address so I took a quick look at the card. I saw the courts building and jail and thought the street had to be somewhere near. I saw a couple of police officers talking so I quickly parked so I could ask them. I don’t know what made me do it but I looked out the passenger window and there was Jack Doyle’s place. 4 years of living in San Antonio and this was the first time I ever went into the downtown area.

I went into the office and I saw Jack stuffing donuts into his face and sucking down some coffee. Now I know why he was huffing and puffing. “Now wonder that guy was out running you. If he decided to fight, I think he could have kicked your ass too.”

Jack almost spit out his donut on my statement. “Look, the last guy that worked here was with me until a few weeks ago. I hadn’t expected this jerk to be a no show in court but he did and I wasn’t about to lose the $50,000 I put up so I wanted his ass bad.”

That was a big chunk of change to lose. “Since he didn’t show; his bond was forfeited wasn’t it?”

He nodded his head as he sucked down some more coffee. “Yeah he did but when I put up the bond, he put up his house and $5,000 in cash. I just don’t have them put up 10% and a smile because they could skip out and then I’d be fucked. They have to have something tangible equal to the amount of the bond. I’m already in the process of putting a lien on his house and then I’ll foreclose on it.”

After hearing his last guy left, I was wondering why. “Why did your last chaser leave?”

“He was young and wanted to work with DPS and he finally got his chance. I knew it when I hired him but I hoped he would have been with me a little longer than 8 months. What did you used to do?”

How did he know I wasn’t working? “I’m retired.”

He sat up and looked me over. “Retired, at your age? I don’t see that. You’re what, 35?

I shook my head as I reached into my jeans pocket for my wallet. I kept my body in good shape and several people told me I didn’t look my age. I took out my ID card and tossed it onto his desk. “Nope, 38 and I’m retired from the Army.”

He stared at it for several seconds before handing it back. “What did you do when you were in?”

I put my ID card back in my wallet then put it in my back pocket. “I was a Military Police officer. While I was in the service, I earned my masters in Criminal Justice. I’ll be honest with you, I’m also looking at becoming a police officer.”

I pulled up a seat as I saw him chuckle under his breath. “I don’t know why I do it but I’m always hiring people that want to become cops. With your degree, you shouldn’t have any problem getting on with any Police Department providing they have an opening. So, do you want to be my chaser?”

I was hoping for a more in depth interview with SAPD and I still wanted to put in an application with DPS but for the mean time, what the hell. “Why not and what do I need to do?”

I saw him digging into his desk then he pulled out several papers and handed them to me. The next thing he did was set a three ringed binder on his desk. “First is an application and this other form is for a concealed carry permit. I want my people safe because you never know who you’re going to be dealing with. The material in this binder is for your license. You have your degree so that will help you a lot when it comes to studying for this. I’ll even pay for your license.”

I took the 3-ring binder and took a look at the material inside. Most of it I was familiar with but there was some new stuff I would have to study. “When and where do I take this test?”

“As soon as you feel you’re ready. I’ll set it up at DPS and they’ll issue you your license if you pass but I have a feeling you won’t have a problem. Now fill out that application and these tax forms so I can cut you your check.”

I filled out the forms and he handed me a check for just over $3,500. I figured it would take me a couple of days to study this new material and since today was Tuesday, I felt I’d be ready on Friday. “Set the test up for Friday morning.”

He nodded his head then I left so I could deposit that check then work on my new computer. I went to the bank and deposited the check holding out $500 in cash for me. On my way back to the hotel I spotted an adult shop and decided to stop in and see what they had. I looked around and most of what they had was for straight people but they did have a nice selection of vibrators and dildos. I found a couple of small ones that Hans could use so he could get better acclimated to the pleasures of anal stimulation. I also picked up several bottles of flavored lube.

When I walked in, he wasn’t behind the desk so I just went up to my room. I set up the laptop and right away it picked up their wireless signal and I was online. It didn’t take me long to set the computer up so I took out the book Jack gave me and commenced to studying.

I was hot and sticky after my morning exercise so I went into the bedroom and stripped. I set the water temperature in the shower then quickly pissed. I must have been in the shower for a good 30 minutes because when I got out, I was staring at my smooth skinned naked god. He must keep a pass key on him at all times. “God you’re beautiful Hans but you better let your presence be known so I know you’re here.”

He walked over and took the towel so he could finish drying me. “Now if I did that I couldn’t surprise you, now could I?”

He had a point but if I was going to be chasing bad guys, the last thing I’d ever want to do was hurt him if he’d surprised me. I guess I’d have to be careful. Hans was on his knees drying my legs with one hand as his other started caressing my ass causing my cock to swell. I was enjoying the sensations when I felt his hot mouth engulf my dick and a finger probe and enter my ass. He had so taken me by surprise that my staying power was 0 and I immediately blew my load down his throat. “Oh fuck Hans, I’m cumming.”

He kept sucking and finger fucking as my balls delivered volley after volley of cum. I started seeing stars and I felt my legs get weak then Hans pulled off wrapping his arms around me. “God Lee, are you alright?”

Hans held onto me while I regained my senses. I looked into those green eyes of his and I couldn’t believe what was happening. I shook my head then kissed him. “God love, I’ve never had that happen in all my life. Can you help me inside?”

He led me over to the bed and I sat down trying to make some sense of what was going on. Yesterday I was worried about not having a job and today I do but I still wasn’t sure if I was ready for a relationship. The last thing I wanted was to hurt this gorgeous creature. I turned and stared at his beautiful face then started rubbing the back of his head. “Hans, what’s happening here?”

He leaned in and kissed me gently. “I don’t know Lee. I’ve thrown myself into school so I can earn my degree and haven’t even thought about dating. Besides, my parents don’t know I’m gay. I’ve kept that from them because they’re paying for me to go to college. Next year I’m transferring to UTSA so I can finish my degree in business.”

I was looking to start my career and I didn’t know what he’d think of me chasing bail jumpers and then becoming a cop. “Hans, something is happening here between us and uh well, I do like it but I think there is something you should know.”

While we were sitting there, Hans’s dick was like an iron pipe but as soon as I told him that, it wilted faster than I’d ever seen one do that before. The look he had now really scared me and it looked like he was going to run so I wrapped my arms around him holding him tight. “You have another?”

I pulled his head to my shoulder and caressed his baby soft skin. “Oh no sweetness nothing like that; it’s just that ah well it’s just…”

I was stepping on my tongue trying to spit out what was on my mind. Hans turned and held my face in his hands. “It’s just what Lee?”

“It’s my job Hans,” I said as fast as I could. “You see, ah well, I wanna be a cop. I put 20 years in the Army as an MP and it’s the only thing I know.”

I could see him relax after I got that out. “And you’re afraid I would not want you to do that?”

I shook my head. “It’s not that love. I didn’t know how you’d take to it and well, the job offer I have now is to go after bail jumpers that don’t show up in court.”

I could see his gorgeous dick starting to come back to life again. “That sounds exciting. You get to beat up bad guys.”

I could tell he really didn’t understand what it all entailed but I wasn’t going to tell him. “I don’t know about that babe. How would you feel about me carrying a gun?”

He reached down between my legs and started stroking my cock. “Oooo, I like the gun you’re carrying.”

I’m trying to be serious and he’s trying to turn me on and he’s winning. I turned and stared at him held his face in my hands. “Love, that’s not the gun I was talking about. I meant a real one. Would that bother you that I had to carry a real gun?”

He got a worried look on his face but his dick didn’t wilt like it did before. “Would you wear a vest to protect you?”

His eyes were starting to tear up when he asked. “Of course, I’m not about to do anything without one.”

I rubbed his hair and back as he got his emotions under control. “Lee, I don’t know how to say this but I’m starting to fall in love with you.”

The feelings were definitely mutual as I was starting to fall for him too. “Hans, I’m starting to fall for you too.”

As soon as I told him that he kissed me passionately causing us to fall backwards on the bed. We just stayed there holding and kissing each other for I don’t know how long. We finally got ourselves under control and managed to get dressed. It was almost 5 and I was hungry. “How’d you like to go and celebrate? I know you have school tomorrow so we’ll go easy on the liquid celebration.”

He gave me a wicked little grin. “Oh, are you going to bring me back and take advantage of me?”

That thought had crossed my mind but we would make it an early night. I still hadn’t showed him the toys I’d bought for him but I would save those for Friday.

Hans went down to his room and showered and changed while I looked over the book. He came back then we went out to eat. We were back home by 7 and we spent the next 90 minutes studying then we went to bed and started studying each other.

Friday morning I was at the San Antonio office of the Department of Public Safety taking my test. It took me about an hour to take it and I was pretty certain I’d passed but I never took anything for granted. I sat and waited with 3 others then the trooper came out. He pointed to two of them and shook his head then I watched as they got up and left. He stood in front of me next. “Are you Leland Jennings?”

Since I felt I’d passed I just smiled. “Yeah, I’m him.”

He motioned for me to follow him into another office and he sat behind his desk. I pulled up a chair and got ready for what he had to say. “Well Mr. Jennings, you passed your exam. Where did you get the experience I can tell you have?”

I could tell he wasn’t being snide with me but I couldn’t totally read him either. “US Army.”

He shook his head. “Great, another ground pounder thinking he can chase bail jumpers.”

Now he just pissed me off. He didn’t give me a chance to finish. “US Army Retired, sir. I spent 20 years as a Military Police Officer and I retired out as an E-8. I have a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice. I think I’ve been doing this a little longer than you have.”

I watched him swallow hard then I heard someone laugh. I looked around and there was a trooper standing there wearing First Sergeant stripes. “Looks like you met your match Fields.”

The trooper just looked at the computer screen and started typing. A few seconds later I heard the printer come to life. “This is your license. You need to carry it with you at all times. As for a concealed weapons permit, I’m not sure if I should issue you one.”

“Is there anything in my background that would prohibit me from carrying one?”

He started getting cocky. “I can do.”

Just then the First Sergeant came over and boxed his ears. I thought they were going to get into it when I saw the name plates. “Shut your mouth son. This man has more experience than you ever will. Mr. Jennings, here is an application for DPS. I hope you fill it out.”

I got my license laminated then signed my carry permit. “Thanks Sarge, I’ll fill this out as soon as I can. What’s max age?”

He looked at me and smiled. “Considering you have 20 years military experience, you’re fine.”

I decided to go gun shopping next. “Do you know any decent gun stores?”

The trooper handed me a list of dealers they considered reputable. “Any of these are good but I use the first one. Show him your carry permit.”

I left and drove over to the dealer the trooper recommended. I liked the weapon I carried when I was in the Army and he had several in stock. I settled on a Beretta 9mm semi automatic. I got 2 extra magazines, a holster that I could easily conceal, 2 pairs of handcuffs and a case. I next looked at some body armor and I had several models to choose from. I got the best one they had because I didn’t want Hans worrying about me getting shot. I bought several boxes of ammunition then went back to their range and sighted it in. After firing about 15 rounds I had it where I wanted it. On my way out, I bought a cleaning kit and an ID case then headed home.

When I got home, I cleaned my pistol then remembered I hadn’t told Jerry I’d passed. I grabbed my laptop and headed for the door. I was about to open it when I remembered my gun was still on the table. I stuck that on my hip fixing my jacket then left. Finding his office easier this time, I quickly parked and went it. “Well Lee, I hear you passed.”

I guess word travels fast in this community. “Yeah I did. I also have an application for DPS.”

I took my jacket off then set my laptop on an empty desk. I saw Jerry’s eyes bug out of his head. “Nice piece Lee. Now let me have your computer and I’ll network it to the one here.”

While he was doing that the phone rang. He motioned me to answer it so I did. “Doyle’s Bail Bonds.”

A sarcastic voice came on the other end. “Lemme speak to Doyle.”

“He’s busy at the moment, what can I do to help you.”

“Listen you fucker,” he spat at me. “I said lemme speak to Doyle now.”

Now I was the new kid here but no clod was going to spout off at me like that. “I’d watch the language jerk. Now, what’s your name and I might tell him you’re on the phone.”

“You might,”

I slammed the phone down. “Jerry, you need to tell some of your clients to watch their mouth.”

I could see him giggling behind my laptop. “They like trying to push people’s buttons. I bet ole Syd has his ass in a bind again. He’s a regular and I’ve bailed him out more times than I can count.”

I was about to answer when the phone rang again. “Doyle’s Bail Bonds.”

“Now listen you cunt,” he started.

He was not winning points with me. “If you want out, I suggest you stop cussing at me.”

Jerry was laughing his ass off now so I decided to put the call on speaker. “Damn it you ass, let me talk to Doyle now.”

“Shut your mouth Syd or I’ll let your ass rot in jail,” Jerry shouted from around the computer.

Syd’s attitude quickly changed as he knew Jerry Doyle could just leave him there and with his past, he doubted anyone would bail him out. “Alright Jerry and whoever that other guy was. I need your help again.”

“What are the charges this time Syd and what is your bail?”

Syd started stuttering. “I have the 10% so that’s not a problem.”

I watched Jerry take charge. “What are the charges Syd?”

“Assault,” came his reply.

I looked at Jerry and mouthed assault. Jerry muted the call. “Why’s he acting like that for an assault charge?”

Jerry shook his head then turned off the mute. “What’s the bail?”

There was silence on the other end of the phone. “$100,000.”

My jaw liked to hit the table. “I’ll be over there shortly Syd, bye.”

To be continued...
