Chapter 7
Two years later, Mac’s fears were realized. His fathers and uncles announced that they were weary of travelling back and forth to Florida, and they wanted to move there permanently. It was to be expected. In Florida, they had made dozens of gay friends, and had an active social life in the gay community. In Syracuse they had led an insular life, centered solely on their family. Since one third of their family no longer lived in Syracuse anymore, they reasoned that an inevitable diaspora would occur. They might as well be a part of it.
The four remaining residents of the house could well afford to maintain it, and Arlen offered to deed it to them so they could live rent and mortgage free. They could no longer put off making a decision. They had to decide what they wanted to do.
In the end, they reckoned that the old retired guys could always use money more than they could. They told Arlen to sell, and they would buy a low maintenance condo, hopefully convenient to all their work. If you mapped out where they each worked, and connected the dots, it formed an almost perfect square. They concentrated their search on the middle of the square, and in less time than expected they found the perfect home.
It was a semi-attached town house, with three bedrooms upstairs. Unfortunately, it only had a one-car garage, but there was adequate guest parking in the complex that they could all use. The townhouse was in a homeowners’ association community. All the outdoor maintenance would be taken care of by the HOA. There was even a community swimming pool available for the use of every unit owner. Their only responsibility would be to maintain the structure they lived in.
Before agreeing to make an offer on the property, they insisted on meeting the people who lived in the attached unit. The men wanted it fully understood that they were two gay married couples, and if that was a problem for the neighbors, they would look for a different unit. The real estate agent, gave them the name of the people who lived there, a Mr. and Mrs. Sullivan, who lived half a year in Ft. Myers, FL, and the rest of the year in Syracuse. The agent was reluctant to give out the information at first, but if he didn’t, he feared he would lose the sale.
The Sullivans usually didn’t leave Syracuse until the end of October. It was now late September. Their fathers had already gone to Florida permanently, but the Sullivans were still in Syracuse. Mac called, and Mrs. Sullivan answered.
He told her that he was thinking of buying the unit attached to them, and even though he had been approved by the homeowners’ association, he wanted her and her husband to make the decision, since they would be the closest of neighbors.
“What a thoughtful thing to do,” she said. “I approve you right now,” she giggled, “but I would still love to meet you.”
“May I bring my family with me?” Mac asked. “There are four of us altogether.”
“By all means,” she said, but now she sounded a little hesitant. “How old are your children?” she asked, sounding a little bit put off.”
“No children. Just four working adults.”
Sounding much happier, she asked if they could come by on Sunday morning. Mac told her that they go to church every Sunday morning, and she got even happier. They agreed to come by about 1 PM on Sunday afternoon.
The Sullivans were a little shocked to see the four men who arrived at the door. They expected a husband, wife and two adult children. In spite of being shocked, Mrs. Sullivan welcomed them warmly. In fact, she had coffee perking, and she had made cookies to serve her guests. The Sullivans seemed to be in their very early seventies.
After they were comfortably seated, and sipping coffee with cookies, Mac spoke up. “The reason we wanted to meet you, and speak to you, is to get your approval for us to move here.”
“I know, dear,” Mrs. Sullivan said. “You told me.”
“But I wanted you to meet my family.” He pointed to Dennis. “Dennis here is my husband. He’s a pharmacist.” Then, he pointed to Ari. “Ari here is my brother. He’s an engineer, and Larry is his husband. Larry works for the city in urban planning and development.” The Sullivans were very impressed.
“We had a joint wedding, and we have lived together for many years in my father’s house. He just recently moved permanently to Ft Lauderdale, and he put his house on the market. He wanted to deed us the house, but we figured it would make life easier for him, if he had cash from the sale of the house. It’s mortgage free. I assure you, we live a quiet life. I’m the handy man in the family, so we make all our own improvements, and you won’t have to worry about strangers hovering around.”
Mr. Sullivan sniggered, and Mac’s heart stopped beating.
“You guys are so thoughtful,” he said. “My kids can’t wait for us to kick the bucket, so they can sell the house and share the profits.” He looked at Mac. “Your father must be so proud of you and your brother.”
“Mac, darling,” Mrs. Sullivan said, “When you move in, would you help us out a little. Right now, we have to call a handy man in for the simplest jobs.”
“It’ll be a pleasure,” Mac smiled at her.
“We’ll be going down to Florida just before Halloween. Will you men look after the house when we’re gone? We’ll give you a key, and our telephone number in Florida.”
The men were amazed. The Sullivans took the news, that they were married and gay, as calmly as if Mac had introduced his Aunt Ethel from Albuquerque.
“Of course, we will, Mr. Sullivan,” Ari said.
“Please,” Mr. Sullivan said. “I’m Steve to you, and my wife is Emily.”
“When do you think you’ll be moving in?” Emily asked.
“We’re in no hurry. My dad’s house hasn’t sold yet, but after we close on this house, we’ll be here every weekend to paint the place, lay down new carpeting, and fix a few things.”
“That’s wonderful,” Steve said.
“Why don’t you make a list of everything that needs doing in your house. I’ll come by next Saturday, and see what I can do for you,” Mac offered.
Then Steve said, “I see you drove up in a brand new Chevy. I’m thinking of buying a new car, for our trip down to Florida. How do you like your car?”
Mac took his business card out of his wallet. “I’m the service manager at the Chevy dealership on Main Street. Why don’t you come by some day, and ask for me? I’ll put you with a salesman, and tell him to make you a good deal.”
Steve took the card, and silently thanked God, for bringing these men into his life.
All four of their names were on the deed to the townhouse, and they closed three weeks after their first visit to Steve and Emily. They moved in, a few days prior to the Sullivans driving off to Florida in their brand new Chevrolet Cruze.
Less than a week after their first visit to the Sullivans, Arlen’s house went to contract. The closing wouldn’t take place for six weeks after that. The new owners did not want any of the furniture, so the men moved what they needed, or wanted, to the townhouse, and donated the rest to a charity thrift store.
The first night they spent in their new home, the men slept in separate bedrooms. The move had tired them all out. About two in the morning, Ari crawled into bed with Mac and Dennis. Mac stirred, and asked if there was something wrong.
“I couldn’t sleep,” Ari said. “Maybe it’s the new environment.” He snuggled up to Mac, and crushed his cock against Mac’s thigh. Mac turned so that their cocks were now smashed together. Facing each other, they kissed instinctively.
A few minutes later, Larry came into the room. “I can’t sleep,” he said, and forced his way into the overcrowded bed, this time waking Dennis.
The forces of nature prevailed. It wasn’t long before they formed a daisy chain, and every one of them reached a delicious climax. They wanted to fuck, but they were just too done out, and decided to wait until the next day, which was Saturday, and none of them had to go to work.
As they were falling back to sleep in Dennis and Mac’s bed, Ari whispered. “I kinda like it being just the four of us.”
**********
Arlen, Kenzie, Rob and Richie arrived at their condo in Ft. Lauderdale in record time. They drove straight through, and took turns driving. They stopped only to pee and fill the tank. There was very little for them to do. They had been living part time in this apartment for two years. They had furnished it, and had all their summer clothes in it. They were ready to rock and roll.
Arlen had instructed Mac to sell the house furnished, and if the buyers didn’t want the furniture, he should sell it, or give it to charity. It was all pretty old anyway. All they had to do to start their new lives, was to restock the refrigerator, say hello to a few neighbors, call some of their friends, and join them in retiree heaven., but not tonight. They were exhausted. They went to bed early in separate bedrooms, and slept until 10 AM the following day.
When they woke up they hit the showers, and didn’t bother to dress.
“Let’s christen the apartment as permanent residents,” Kenzie suggested, and he grabbed Arlen. He kissed him and whispered in his ear, “I still love you more than ever.” Rob and Richie took the cue, and they started to smooch. The four of them spent half a day making love in Kenzie and Arlen’s room.
They resumed the life they had grown accustomed to in past visits, but now they knew it was permanent. The thought of it made them smile. They would not miss the snow, nor would they be going up north, except maybe to visit their sons. They would miss all their boys, of course, but all of them could afford to visit Florida often. If they wanted to come all together, they would make do with the third bedroom, which had two standard beds, and the sleep sofa in the living room, which could sleep two or three more men.
They discussed going to their favorite bar that evening, and maybe running into some friends, but in the end they decided they could all use another night of rest. They figured that they could start living their new lives the following day.
When Arlen and Kenzie were alone in bed, they were fondling their cocks, and cuddling close.
“Wow,” Arlen said.
“What?” Kenzie asked.
“Twenty years ago, when we reconnected after a twenty-year hiatus, did you have any idea what a vast and close knit family we would create?”
“Not one tiny inkling,” Kenzie said. “I recall the night well, however. Remember how we just held each other? We didn’t even make a move to kiss.”
“Yes,” Arlen answered, “and when we did finally make love, it was extraordinary.”
“It still is baby, it still is. Would you like to relive that night?”
“Uh huh.”
“I’ll get the lube,” Mac said.
After they both climaxed, they continued to fondle and kiss each other, until they fell asleep.
The End.
