Back to Normal
On Wednesday morning, it was only Beau and Jeff running. The two of them needed time to visit. When they came in, they had everyone up and dressed and we escorted the ladies to the chow hall for the last time. Beau and Jeff went to visit with the staff and thanked them for everything they had done.
After breakfast, the guys loaded the buses and everyone boarded. We got off at Reagan and everyone hugged the two Sergeants who were back in uniform. Beau stuck an envelope in each of their pockets and let them know they should say nothing with his gestures.
We boarded the plane, and the people just sat randomly. Everyone was exhausted so the there was very little chatter on the plane. S.Z.Q. was sitting beside Beau and they were making lists of things that they needed to do. About halfway through the flight, Beau and Berto changed seats. Beau was sitting beside Rebecca and Berto was sitting beside S.Z.Q.
When we got to Omaha, our buses were waiting and the guys had everything taken care of very quickly. When we got to Fremont, we unloaded at Mrs. Tillison’s house and went our separate ways. Jeff was very quiet.
When we got home, Jeff unloaded. “Beau is going to go down. He is so good and tries to do so much. There is no way that he can keep on going at this pace. Dad, put him on some tranquilizers or something.”
“Jeff, Beau is just acting like you. He just has more time to get involved right now. You are so busy at the college and church and everything else. It will be interesting to see how things go with the President’s twins at his house.”
Beau got home and opened the pool. People started to show up. The President’s Son and Daughter were expected to carry their share of the load. S.Z.Q. was about to find out the same thing.
After dinner, which Beau and Becca fixed, everyone was involved in the clean up. Beau scheduled everyone’s Thursday and went to get ready for bed. There were no questions asked. Steve was sleeping with Beau and Rebecca had Jen for a bedmate. The two security guards were to sleep in the basement bedroom and S.Z.Q. was staying with Carole Anne.
There was no messing around. On Thursday morning, Beau untangled himself from the gaggle of people in his bed. Jason and Clay had joined Beau and Steve during the hard thunderstorm during the night. Beau left the other three sleeping and went out to run. He was tying his shoes when the younger of the two Secret Service men came out. They were joined by Father W., Jeff, and Matthew.
They took off for the lake and when the got back to the house, Matthew grabbed Beau and said, “It’s so good to have you back. Hey, our cousin from Indiana is arriving today. Can she come swimming with us?”
Beau said, “Of course, as long as she is a qualified lifeguard, is cute and doesn’t mind working.”
Jeff, Father W. and the Secret Service agent, Jim, were laughing. Beau disappeared and made his morning coffee deliveries. Steve was about to find out no one cared what he looked like in the morning. He resigned himself to thinking that if no one else cared, why should he.
Everyone assembled in the dining room and Beau and Becca served breakfast. Beau said, “Dads, we’ll need a bigger Dining Room with all of these people here and Dylan, Carole Anne and S.Z.Q. aren’t even here yet. By the way someone needs to go to the grocery store for more food. I have to go to work today, and I’ll take the other thirteen years and our two S.S. men with me.”
Beau turned to the two Secret Service agents and said, “Just be low key and don’t be surprised if you are put to work.”
After breakfast, Ben took Jason and Clay to Gigi’s. Beau had the Secret Service men drive them to the Shoppe. Beau checked in and left Denny in charge. He left with Mr. Cooper and they picked up Mrs. Gleason. They drove to the Mr. Rudolf Gleason’s house. The house was being packed out so they left and went to the Rodman house. The packers started to work and Mr. Rider called in backup so they could have everything ready to pick up the next morning.
Kevin came to Beau and said, “Dude, you are killing us with all of this work. I don’t think we are going to live through tomorrow.”
Beau said, “Kev, you are fine. Just think of all the money you are making bossing these people around. How are the classes going?”
Everyone shut down at 5:00 and Mr. Cooper dropped Beau and Mrs. Gleason off at the house. The pool had been open; Carole Anne and S.Z.Q. had dinner under control. After dinner, the pool was opened again and Matthew and his brothers and cousin, Debbie, arrived.
It was apparent that Debbie and Steve had hit it off. Denny and Jen were visiting and swimming together and S.Z.Q. and Berto were like best buddies.
Beau and Becca were the perfect host and hostess. They closed the pool and Beau brought some fresh brownies. After dessert, everyone scattered and Beau, Becca, Jen, and Steve did the cleanup.
On Friday, Beau and Mrs. Gleason went with Nancy to the Rodman house. They watched as everything was loaded. They grabbed some lunch and went to the Archibald Gleason house and watched the house being loaded out.
The other young people were at the Shoppe working and most of them made a sale. The two Secret Service Agents were beginning to not understand why they were there. At dinner that night the two agents said, “We don’t think you need our services. The two Turner children seem to belong here, and no one even acknowledges who their father is.”
Beau looked at the two gentlemen and said, “Does that mean you are missing your families and are bored with us?”
The younger of the two gentlemen said, “Beau, yes and no. I miss my family and there is no way anyone is going to get bored here. It has become apparent that no one other than the people who were in Washington, D. C. knows who Jen and Steve are.”
Beau said, “Yes and we plan to keep it that way. The Turner Twins are our captives for the next month. Their parents are so not going to know them when they finally go home. When we finish corrupting them, they are going to be wonderful people.”
The younger of the two agents said, “You don’t mince words do you, boy?”
Jason said, “No, Beau tells it like it is and everyone listens. Dad and Granddad, may we open the pool after the cleanup is done?”
“Don’t ask us, ask the pool meister.” Josh said.
The young people got up and took care of everything and had the pool open and people began to arrive. Beau and Rebecca just watched as everyone else swam and visited. At 8:30, they closed the pool and everyone just disappeared.
The young people had dessert and went to get ready for bed.
On Saturday morning, Beau went out to run and was joined by Berto and Steve. They took off and did their thing. When they got back to the house, the two Secret Service gentlemen were getting ready to leave. They both hugged the three guys and took off in their rented car.
Beau had everyone working at the Shoppe. Mr. Rider came and talked to Beau. “Beau, the moving agent in Las Vegas called me last night and said, the furnishings in the Las Vegas condominium were quite good. He was concerned that you would probably think it too costly to ship the entire way back here. He recommends that it be sold furnished. He did recommend that you have the artworks shipped back. He does not profess to be an art expert, but he thinks there are one or two pieces of value.”
Mr. Rider continued, “The moving agent in Kansas City called this morning and said that the condo in Kansas City had pretty well been trashed by the previous resident.”
“Mr. Rider, I guess you are saying that Mrs. Gleason’s gigolo wasn’t too pleased when he found out that he would no longer be receiving assistance from the Gleasons.” Beau laughed.
“I don’t know what is going on exactly, but the agent said that about the only things of value that were left in tact were the artworks on the wall. I have made arrangements to have the artworks shipped to your home address. What do you want me to do with the furniture?”
Beau said, “Mr. Rider, thank you for being so up front. Let me talk to Aunt Nancy and Grandma Renee and I’ll get back to you first thing Monday. Things have been happening rather fast.”
Steve, Jen, Denny and Becca were working the floor. Beau went and called Nancy and Mrs. Gleason and told them what Mr. Rider said and asked, “Where do you want me to go on this?”
Nancy said, “Beau, let’s take the weekend off and then we can discuss the best route to take on Monday.”
Mrs. Gleason responded, “Beau, you and Nancy do what you think is best.”
The Weavers closed the store at 4:00. The young people went home and Dylan had the grills ready to go. Dylan and Carole Anne and Mrs. Gleason had fixed deluxe hamburgers. Ben and Josh had made potato salad.
They had invited the three of us and Mrs. T., Aunt Cora, and Drew and Kenny to dinner. Of course, they had invited all the young people who wanted to come, as well as the Leavitts
It was a nice evening so everyone had no problem eating outside. Steve and Jen were overwhelmed that everyone just fit in.
It was after Beau had been blindsided at the second service on Sunday when we were at the club having lunch and there was a call for Beau. Beau took the phone from Mitchell. “Beau this is Nancy. How fast can you be ready to go to the cabin? I think we have some people who are very interested in buying the cabin.”
“Just swing by the club and pick me up? Is it okay if I bring some friends with me?” Beau asked.
Nancy said, “Yep, I’ll drive the van.”
Beau had Mrs. Gleason, Rebecca and the Turner Twins were ready when Nancy pulled up in front of the club. They drove to the cabin which was located on a small lake.
When the prospective clients arrived, Beau went into his act. “Grandma Renee, are you sure you want to sell this property? It has been furnished impeccably and the lake front would be great for skinny dipping since no one is located close by. Maybe we could use this for a secluded hideaway.”
Beau and Nancy walked the prospective buyers though the cabin. Beau craftily took the couple outside and pointed out the highlights of the property.
Beau and Nancy left the couple to walk around. The couple walked through the cabin one more time. The rest of the people were sitting on the front porch and the couple came out and said, “We’ll offer you $175,000.00 for the land, building and furnishings.”
Beau said, “We’ll accept you offer, if you agree to pay all closing costs and fees.”
Nancy looked at Beau funny, but Beau stood his ground. The couple agreed and Nancy wrote up the contract.
After the couple left, Nancy lit into Beau. “You can’t make demands like this. We could have lost the sale.”
“Aunt Nancy, you need to evaluate the opposition. That couple really wanted this property. We probably could have gotten them to go higher on their offer, but I am satisfied. How about you Grandma Renee?” Beau asked.
“Beau I never realized I had this much money. I guess I won’t have to worry about working.” Mrs. Gleason said.
Nancy’s cell phone rang. Nancy answered and said, “Beau, we need to go to Dubuque. There is someone who wants to buy the Bed and Breakfast. Are you free tomorrow?”
Beau threw up his hands, “I’ll tell you what. Why don’t we rent a small plane to take us to Dubuque and back? I really don’t want to spend 10 or 11 hours in a vehicle both ways. We’ll leave the Fremont airport at 9:00. Tell the potential buyers and the agent that we will meet them at 1:00 at the property.”
Nancy made the arrangements and Beau called Mrs. Tillison and told her of the transportation requirements and asked for her help.
When the people got back to Fremont, the pool was open and Carole Anne had dinner under control. Beau and his entourage changed into their swimming suits and Beau was working on getting rid of his pent up emotions.
Denny arrived and he and Jen were visiting. They had become close in D. C. Matthew arrived with his cousin Debbie and she and Steve paired off. Berto and S.Z.Q. were together. Beau and Rebecca went to help Carole Anne and Dylan with dinner.
After dinner, Carole Anne and Dylan called for a conference. Jeff and I picked up Mrs. Tillison. Carole and Dylan had made arrangements to have the three marriage services on three succeeding weekends. They wanted Beau and S.Z.Q. to be their attendants. They wanted Becca, Jen, Steve and Berto to be the others in the party along with Chip and Clay. The rest of the guys who went to the Nude Dude Ranch were going to be the ushers.
They made the arrangements for the three weddings. The ladies would wear plain dresses at the Fremont wedding and the guys would wear their blazers.
The second wedding the guys would be in tuxedos and of course the one at the ranch would be in western clothes. The guys needed to be measured for tuxedos for the Des Moines wedding.
Everyone dispersed and went to get ready for bed. Steve and Beau were lying in the bed and Steve asked, “Beau, I think that you have had some unfavorable sexual experiences. Would you tell me about what happened, please? I promise I will never say anything. I just can feel it in the way you react to me and other people.”
Beau told Steve an abbreviated version of what had happened to him. Steve just pulled Beau close and asked. “May I talk to my Dad about what happened to you when I go back to D. C. which neither Jen nor I want to do. This is the first time in a long time that we are not being thrown into the spotlight. It is really nice to be an average snotty teenager.”
Beau pulled Steve close and they were gone for the night.
To be continued...
Editor's Notes:
Wow! Another great chapter. It is becoming a habit for me to look in my mail box for each new installment of this wonderful story. I am so invested in this story that I don't know what I am going to do when it is finally finished. I wonder if I can get Beau to help me coax our distinguished author to keep it going longer. I know he has plans, but, hey, if everyone that is reading this fabulous story lets him know how much they are enjoying it, maybe he will keep telling us all the new things that keep happening.
