Chapter 35
The Ultimate Meeting
“What about our guests from Peoria?” Beau complained.
“Hey, they love all the guys and gals. They’ll be fine. Besides, they are having a great time being waited on.” Grams said.
We went downstairs while Dylan and C.A. helped the Morrisons to their car as they headed back to Des Moines. The Robinsons were the next to leave. Mrs. Robinson said, “I’m so glad that you guys took Dylan’s mother down a dozen or so notches. I’m betting I will get a call from her soon, and I’ll really enjoy telling her I’m already busy. She is such a snob.”
Jeff and Beau sent the guys and the Peoria people to the house. Danny came and hugged me, Jeff and Beau, before Dylan took him back to the home.
Dylan said, “I’ll meet you all back at your house when you are done.”
Jill came up to me and said, “Doctor Wilson, I invited Tina Crosby to come and talk to you tomorrow about a job. She is a nurse and a medical technician and specializes in x-rays and echograms. She could fill in for me if I need to be gone or I am busy. If Lash, Tina and I work as a team, we could probably service more patients.”
She turned to Beau and said, “I told Tina that you would take care of Trey and Ranger while she was having her interview.”
Beau said, “So what else is new? Now Aunt Jill is manipulating my life.”
Jill surprised Beau by grabbing him and saying, “You better take that back or I’ll tell Chip to stop kissing you.”
Beau started to fake a sob, “Oh Aunt Jill, anything but that.”
Everyone was leaving and the young people all hugged Mrs. T., Jeff, and Beau. The house looked like nothing had happened the young people had even washed the towels and folded them.
Finally Mrs. Tillison called everyone together. “Carole Anne honey, would you please take Melanie and Melody into the study until we are ready for them. Beau or Jeff will come and get you.” The meeting consisted of Mr. and Mrs. Hendrix, Kenny, Ben, Josh, me, Jeff, Beau and of course Barry and Mrs. Tillison.
Mrs. Tillison started and said, “I am sure some of you are wondering why you are here. None of us knows everything yet, but I think all of us are going to be playing a role in what will be happening in the future. As Jeff and Beau keep reminding me, the people that we need to be most concerned with are Melanie and Melody. Amanda is in a home in O’Neill, for her alcohol and gambling addictions.”
“The girls have been living with the Hendrixs because Barry’s house needs some major renovation. This morning, after the 8:30 service, Mr. and Mrs. Hendrix and Barry left to visit Amanda. I gather the visit did not go well at all, from the way you looked when you returned.” Mrs. T. finally stopped.
Mrs. Hendrix said, “When we got to the home Amanda didn’t want to talk to any of us. Finally, I convinced her to talk to me and she started to say all kinds of awful things about Barry and Mrs. Tillison. Then she started in on Josh and Ben. She was totally out of control and started to rant about Kenny and Drew. She didn’t stop there. She had nasty things to say about, Jack, Jeff and Beau. About the only person she didn’t accuse of something was herself.”
“Finally, I went and got my husband and Barry and she started all over.” Mrs. Hendrix said, with tears in her eyes.
Barry took over. “The minute she saw me, she said she hated me and had never loved me and that the girls weren’t even mine. She went right for the throat then. She said that as soon as she got out of this prison, she was going to file for a divorce and wanted the house the cars and said she would demand complete custody of the girls, because she would need them for support.”
Mr. Hendrix said, “I had had enough of her verbally abusing people, so I turned to her and told her I hadn’t realized that my daughter was such a drunken slut, and I left. I really wanted to take her over my knee and spank her until she regained her senses.”
“We came back here and were told to put it on ice?” Mrs. Hendrix questioned.
Grams said, “Beau, go get Carole Ann, and tell the twins that we’ll be getting them shortly.”
C. A. and Beau came in and Grams said, “Carole Anne dear, would you please tell us what you observed with the twins today?”
Carole Anne said, “After Ranger rescued Melanie, I went into the shower with her to make sure she was going to be okay. When she was washing the chlorine off, I noticed her pelvic area was very red and swollen. I told Jeff and Doctor Wilson.”
“Jeff asked me to see if Melody showed similar symptoms. I did, and she did. I don’t know what else I can tell you, but I’m betting they have been sexually abused.” Carole Anne sighed.
Mr. and Mrs. Hendrix and Barry were looking a little peaked when Mrs. T. said, “Beau, go get the girls and bring them in.”
Beau looked at Mrs. Tillison and said, “Grams, I’ll go get them, but you have to let me talk to them informally like a friend. They would probably be intimidated by all of you older people, if you started to ask questions.”
He came back and sat on a sofa with the girls on either side of him. He started, “Ladies, we’re going to play a game. If you answer incorrectly, you have to take off a piece of your clothes, and if you should choose not to answer, then you also lose a piece of clothing. Here is the first question. What is sex?”
“You want us to answer that question in front of these adults?” Melody asked.
“I was hoping you could help me, because these people are all prudes and won’t tell me what I want to know.” Beau said, “So can you help me?”
Beau skillfully led the girls through what had been happening to them since right after New Years. It turns out that Amanda had been selling the girls’ bodies, as well as her own, to support her addictions.
Beau asked one more question. “Hey, have you ever seen your Daddy without any clothes? What does he look like?”
Melanie said, “Are you kidding, we decided that he changes clothes in his closet. We have never seen him out of the room he sleeps in unless he is fully dressed.”
Beau assured the girls that what had happened to them was not their fault. He then did something that I don’t think anyone was expecting. He told them an abbreviated but concise account of what happened to him.
He ended his interrogation and said, “You lovely ladies are lucky. You have all these people who care about you. I think Carole Anne is about to become your mentor, and me thinks that she knows something about self defense and she can help you two make sure that no one, and I mean no one uses your body again, unless you want them to.”
“Ladies, your Grandmother Hendrix is going to take you to see Doctor Dad in the morning at 8:30. Carole Anne, can you meet them there?” Beau asked.
“Yes, I'll be there.” she answered.
“Good, that way it will be five women against Doctor Dad and Lash. Make sure Mr. Lasher doesn’t drink your blood. Oh, by the way Casey is going to be there at the same time, only in a different room. If you see him, make sure he isn’t too frightened.” Beau said, and then he turned to Carole Anne.
“C. A. honey, could you please take my two friends here in to the kitchen and see if you can find some dessert. I’ll be in shortly.”
The girls left and Beau said, “Grams, pay Uncle Barry a $1.00 for his house and D. Dad you pay him $1.00 for his practice, that way the former Mrs. Tillison can’t get them in a divorce settlement. Kenny, you had better buy Uncle Barry’s cars. Grams, get Uncle Norm working on this tomorrow. There is no way in hell that the girls are ever going to live with their Mother again. Now, if you will excuse me, I am going to go throw up.” Beau said as dashed form the room.
Everyone was frozen. Beau came back and asked, “Did I screw up again. Jeff, please take me home and D. Dad, you bring C. A.”
Jeff said, “We’re leaving, Beau is about ready to turn into an ice cream cone.” Everyone watched as the two guys left. Beau let go in the car. “How can I be so selfish? I thought I was the only person who ever had things like this happen to them. Now I have to worry about Casey and the twins.”
Jeff pulled Beau close and said, “Beau, you have done all of the damage control you can. You just need to let the experts and families do the rest.”
Beau looked at Jeff and said, “Thanks brother, I needed that. I love you.”
Beau dashed into the house, “Men get away from Aunt Evelyn; I saw her first. The house was full of people. Mitch, Barbee, Larry and Lenny were there with Jason, Casey, and Davey. I was surprised not to see Denny and Spencer, but they had already left.
Uncle Lyle and Tommy were in the study as Tommy was finishing his homework for Tuesday. When I walked in with Carole Anne, Dylan was lying on the floor teaching the nine year olds to play Risk. You could tell he was enjoying himself.
Beau started on him, “Okay Mr. CEO Morrison, what did Danny have to say when you took him home? Did he have a good time? Is he going to be okay?”
Everyone was watching the two of them Land jumped up and grabbed Beau and put his hand over Beau mouth. “Now Mr. Mouth, if you will give me a chance, I‘ll answer your questions. Danny said he had the time of his life with you and your family and friends. He thinks that you, Jeff and D. Dad walk on water and that he has a really good feeling that something good is going to be happening to him, soon.”
Dylan pulled Beau close and said, “My Grandma called and left a message on my cell phone from some rest stop. She said to tell you and your family that you are the best thing that has happened to her and me in a long time. She also told me to give you a big hug and kiss for her.”
Dylan pulled Beau close and kissed him on the lips. Beau laid back against Dylan for a couple of minutes. He looked at Dylan and said, “Thanks, I needed that, my fuel tank is empty but you really need to take some kissing lessons from Chip.”
“Guys and gals, I’m going to bed, Jason and Casey, you guys need to get ready for bed. I’ll sleep in the family room downstairs. Beau kissed and hugged everyone good night and disappeared.
Everyone cleared out or retired for the night and by nine o’clock, the house was like a morgue. Jeff and I took a quick shower and the events of the day overtook both of us.
To be continued...
Editor's Notes:
Now that was an action packed chapter. It was also heartbreaking, however, I feel that the events depicted here, are well worth talking about. People need to hear about this type of thing and watch out for the signs.
