Chapter 5

The Rag Doll

My mother and father didn’t even check on my foot the entire weekend.  If I wanted to eat , I had to go downstairs and eat with them.  I skipped lunch because my ankle hurt too much to go up and down the stairs.  At the Sunday evening meal, my mother announced, “I want you to be ready to leave for school early tomorrow.  I have a dentist appointment at 8:00.

I got up extra early, so I could be ready.  I had barely finished my cereal when my mother was chomping at the bit to leave, even though it wasn’t even seven thirty.  This was a first in a long time; I was at school a half hour before the bell was to sound.  I had just gotten out of the car when Mark and Matt arrived at my side.  Matt took my books and Mark put his left arm around my waist to support me.  It sure made it a bunch easier to move.

We stopped about halfway up the walkway and sat on a bench.  The guys began asking me all sorts of questions about what they witnessed Friday night.

Matt started it, “How long have you known that hunk, Troy?  It sure looked like he was going to jump you.”

Before I could answer, Mark interjected, “You sure know how to find the ripe ones.”

I could feel myself turning red as Matt added, “We want the truth, the whole truth and we want it, now.”

I looked at the them and shrugged my shoulders, “Guys, honestly, I never met Troy until just before the match on Friday.  I had seen him around, but didn’t know who he was.  You saw everything that happened.  I was totally surprised  at what was happening.  I was experiencing feelings I had never felt before.  That‘s the rest of the story..”

Mark decided that we had better go into school early, so we could get to our lockers and get ready for class, since I was going to need some extra time.  Fortunately, Mr. Winters was seated at his desk when we walked into our first period class.  The guys helped me to my seat as the warning bell sounded.

Susan Morrow came and sat next to me,  “Seth, I cut this article from the paper, yesterday.  I thought maybe you would like to send it to a friend.”

It was a picture of me standing with Troy’s arm around me.  The article gave a detailed account of our match.  The writer had commented that I was the better player and it was too bad that I had slipped.  I thanked Susan, but then had a sinking feeling, ‘What if my parents see that picture with Troy’s arm around me.  They’ll ground me until I'm so feeble I can’t move.’

Mr. Winters’ phone rang and he did something that he never did.  He gave us our homework assignment, so we could work on it for the rest of the period.  The P. A. came on and announced, “There will be an assembly at 9:10, between first and second periods.”

After the announcement, I saw Mr. Winters say something to Mark, but I didn’t think anything about it.  About 8:50, Mr. Winters came to where I was seated, “Seth, I think you should start toward the auditorium now, so you won’t be run over by the mob.  I’ll have Mark and Matt go with you.”

We arrived at the auditorium just as the bell rang.  Mark looked around, “I think that we should sit in the front row so someone doesn’t accidentally tramp on you foot.”

It sounded like a logical idea, so I didn’t argue.  We sat down in the middle of the row, in front of the steps to the stage.  We were seated so that there was an empty seat beside me which I thought was odd.  In fact, I was feeling like everyone was avoiding me.

“Can I join you guys?” someone asked.

I looked up and saw Susan Morrow standing there, “Please do.”

Susan was in most of my classes, so I didn’t think anything about it.  She told me that she had been at the match on Friday and how well I had played until I slipped.  Our conversation was interrupted by the principal, Mr. Pierce, stepping forward, and everyone settled down.

“Students and faculty of Mobile South, I asked that you be here today to honor one of our students.  I would like to ask Seth Morrison to join me on the stage.”

I was so stunned that I couldn’t move.  Mark and Matt came to my assistance and helped me to the stage.  Mr. Pierce had a chair brought in, so I could sit down, when he saw me struggling.

Mr. Pierce described the match in detail, and commented, “Seth is a fine representative of our school.”  He concluded, “It is with great honor that I am able to present this trophy to Seth.”

He pulled a trophy out from the podium and held it up.

The students and faculty who were present stood and applauded.  I  tried to stand but lost my balance and wound up on the floor.  It went totally silent in the auditorium.  Mark and Mat jumped on the stage.  Mark leaned down and asked, “You okay?”

I just nodded, yes.  The guys helped me stand, and I was standing with Mark supporting me.  Mr. Pierce stepped in front of me and handed me the trophy.  I had to take it with my left hand since the right hand was around Mark’s waist.  Matt took my left hand and raised it with the trophy.

The audience applauded again and the students started to chant, “Seth, Seth, he’s our man.  Wait until next year.”  Mr. Pierce finally stopped the noise and thanked the students for coming.

As Mark, Matt and I started down the steps we were met by Coach Richmond, “Seth, what did the doctor say about your foot?”

“I haven’t been to the doctor.  My parents think that I’ll be fine without medical help.  In fact, they think I’m overreacting like a little kid.”

The coach frowned, “You’re kidding, aren’t you, Seth?”

“No sir, “

Mr. Pierce looked at Mark and Matt,  “Guys, help Seth to my office, please.”

The two adults were talking when we left the area.  They had no sooner gotten me seated when Mr. Pierce arrived, “Mark and Matt, stop by the receptionist, Mrs. Albright, and she will give you tardy passes so you can give them to your teachers.”

After Mark and Matt had departed, Mr. Pierce said, “Seth, we’re taking you to you to see Doctor Wood.  He specializes in working with sports’ injuries, and is a personal friend of mine.  Coach Richmond is getting his car now, to take you to see the Doctor.  I haven’t been able to get in touch with your parents.

Coach Richmond came into the office, “Your Taxi awaits at the side door, Seth.”

I was surprised when Mr. Pierce accompanied us.  When we arrived at the sports clinic, Mr. Pierce pointed, “Marv, park here and get the technician to bring out a wheelchair.”

Within minutes, a good looking guy came to the car with a wheelchair.  The guy looked at my ankle, “Seth, we'd better get you inside before your ankle starts to look like a grapefruit.  By the way, my name is Alex.”

“Hi Marv, Doctor Wood says for you and Mr. Pierce to stop by the receptionist and sign some paper work.”

“Thanks, Alex.  You will take good care of Mr. Morrison, won’t you?”

“Of course, Coach.”  the Alex person said as he pinched my cheek.”

Coach laughed, “Alex, make sure you keep your pants on, please.”

Alex moaned, “Oh Coach, you’re no fun at all.”

We started up the ramp to the door and Alex talked all the way, “We saw your match on Friday.  You were going like a field of dry grass on fire and I was sure you were going to clean your opponent’s tubes.  I was even more sure of that when I saw the seams of your shorts starting to rip.”

I was caught off guard by Alex’s comment.  I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.  I looked up at Alex and he was laughing so I laughed as well.

Mr Pierce met us as we went through the door, “Seth, Coach Richmond and I need to get back to school.  I’ve asked Dr. Wood to call when you’re ready to leave.  Alex, take care of our man, here.”

Alex answered, “How could I not take care of him?  He’s so cute.  And besides, my sister would hang me by my privates if she thought I had done otherwise.”

That comment blew my mind.  I hadn’t the foggiest idea of what he was talking about.

Alex took me into a dressing room, “Let’s get you ready for the x-ray machine.  First, let’s get you up on the table.  He lifted me onto the table like I was a rag doll.  He took off my right shoe and when he saw my right ankle he quietly muttered, “Oh, for heaven’s sakes.  Seth, you shouldn’t be trying to use that ankle.  You could be crippled for life.  Lie back and relax, I’m going to cut these pants away from your ankle.  I’m afraid that if you move you will cause more damage.”

Alex carefully cut the pants I was wearing away from my ankle but he kept touching my body as he did so.  Of course, my body was on overload and I was becoming aroused.  He finally had the pants away from the inflamed area.  He stood and looked at me and rubbed his hand over my penis, My, my, you do have an aroused appendage here.”

He pulled away, “You are as gorgeous as Susan said you were.  I hope that Greg can keep his hands off your private property while he is examining you.”

He immobilized my leg as he moved me onto a gurney, so he could take me to the x-ray room, “Liz, my darling, this gorgeous young man needs to have his x-rays taken of his foot and ankle.  Keep your hands off the merchandise; I saw it first.”

When the technician turned around, I was embarrassed, because I recognized her right away.  She was Mrs. Carson who had been my Sunday school teacher until my parents stopped me from going to any functions, including church functions, where I might be contaminate anyone.

“Seth, I haven’t seen you for several years.  Alex, I’m afraid you’re wrong.  I’ve known this young man longer than you have.  You were right, though, in that he is a gorgeous young man.  Alex, wipe your mouth, you’re drooling.  I’ll take care of Seth.  When I’ve finished with the x-rays, I’ll bring him to the examination room for Doctor Wood to examine him and see what he wants to do.”

She moved me so she could take the x-rays.  When she was satisfied that she had all of the x-rays she needed, she made a call, “Greg, I’m on my way to examination room three with Mr. Morrison.  I hope you can control your hormones.”

As she was wheeling me to the exam room, Mrs. Carson commented, “Seth, you are very fortunate to have Dr. Wood taking care of you.  Not only is he a great doctor, but he’s a wonderful person, too.”

She stopped in front of a door and opened it.  I could see two men standing talking.  Mrs. Carson chuckled, “Alex, are you holding the leash tightly?”

“Don’t worry, Liz.  I’ll save a couple of bones for you.”  The three of them laughed.

Mrs. Carson announced, “Doctor, I’ll be in the lab if you need me.”

Mrs. Carson came over and kissed me, “Seth, I’ll make sure this mean old man doesn’t hurt you too badly.

Doctor Wood stuck out his hand, “Seth, I’m Greg Wood.  I’m going to go look at these pictures that Mrs. Carson gave me of your ankle and foot.  Alex will be taking your vitals while I’m gone.”

Alex started to take my vitals, “Temperature: 98.2.  Blood pressure: 120 over 62.  Pulse: 67.  It’s pretty hard to take your weight and height when you are lying on your back.  Can you give me an estimate of what it has been?”

“I’m five feet eleven inches and the last I checked I weighed 165 pounds.”

Alex asked, “Is that with or without?”

“With or without what?”

He looked so stoic, “With a hard on or a flaccid penis.”

I started to giggle, “I don’t think it makes a difference.  The only difference is that the blood is concentrated in one area rather than dispersed throughout the body.”

Alex laughed, “You could be right.  I need to take some blood to check what type you have, in case we should need to give you some blood.  I’ll try to be as gentle as I can.”

I was watching what Alex was doing and I began to feel faint,  Alex made me relax, “Don’t worry, Seth, I’ll leave enough so you can get a hard-on and I’ll be able to check your weight with or without a hard- on.

When Alex finished drawing the blood, he handed me a container, “There, that wasn’t so bad, was it?  Now comes the fun part.  You need to give a urine sample.  Since we don’t want you walking around, you have to do it on the examination table.  Think you can do it by yourself, or do you need me to help you?”

I must have turned red, but I said, “I think I can do it by myself.”

Alex grinned, “Shucks, I’ll leave and give you some privacy.”

Alex left, but I was having a hard time getting my clothes back on properly, “Alex, help me straighten my briefs and pants.  My foot is really beginning to ache when I try to move it.”

Alex was helping me get my clothes squared as Doctor Wood reentered, “Seth, you should have gone to the emergency room on Friday.  It’s a good thing that Marv and Mr. Pierce brought you here, this morning. You have a small broken bone in you ankle that has started to fuse improperly.  I’m going to need to break and set it so it will heal properly.  You also have a torn ligament in the same area, but you’re in good enough shape that it will repair itself.  I will keep checking it.  In the meantime, I'm going to rebreak the bone.  Alex is going to give you a shot, so you are not aware of the pain.  I’ll wait until you’re completely relaxed before I do anything”

Alex pushed me down on the gurney, “Okay, you hunk, lie down while I will give you a happy time shot.”

I felt Alex giving me a shot, but I don’t remember much else until I was awakened in a fog.  I was aware that Mrs. Carson, Doctor Wood and Alex were standing there talking.  I was starting to feel some pain in my ankle. I tried to move and was unable to do so, because I was strapped to the gurney.

Doctor Wood acknowledged me, “Well young man, I’m pleased to announce that you will be as good as new with a lot of rest followed by some rehabilitation.”

All three of them approached me with serious looks on their faces.  Alex unstrapped  me except for my right leg and helped me to a sitting position.  He held me until he was sure that I could maintain the position on my own, but he didn’t completely let go, “Seth, when you were sedated, you said something that disturbed the three of us.  We would like to talk about what you said.”

I must have turned totally white.

Doctor Wood reassured me, “Seth, let me assure you that anything we hear or say will not be repeated outside this office.”

“What was it that I said, so I know where to begin to explain?”

Mrs. Carson put her arms around me, “Seth, you were rambling about how no one loved you or respected you, and that you felt like a prisoner and no one would ever miss you if you were dead.  What you were saying was scaring all of us.”

Doctor Wood interjected, “Seth, I’m going to ask you a straight forward question, and I want an honest answer.  Have you even thought of committing suicide?”

I started to sob and shook my head in the affirmative. “I have thought about it and would have, on a couple of occasions, if I could have.”

Dr. Wood asked, “Have you talked about it with anyone?”

“I’ve talked to Coach Richmond and he has told me that it was something I should not consider.  He has done all he can do, but my parents haven’t been listening to him and certainly not to me.  It’s a miracle that they let me out of he house, to play tennis.  I made a mistake when I told them I thought I was gay.”

“It sounds like your parents need an attitude adjustment.  Do you have any relatives you could move in with?”

“I don’t know my relatives very well, but they are all born again Christians.  The most supportive people have been Coach Richmond and Mrs. Martz”

Doctor Wood stopped the conversation, “We’ll talk more about this when we finish taking care of your foot.”

To be continued...

Editor's Notes:  As we have seen time and time again, with E Walk's stories, we have a fine young man who has stolen our hearts, and we all want the best for him.  It is time that someone helped him escape from that horrible situation that he is living through.  His so called parents should be arrested for child abuse, and put where they can't hurt anyone else.  Child endangerment might also be a charge brought against them.  They certainly don't deserve to have children under their so called care.

I will never understand how anyone who treats a child like that can call themselves Christians.  That attitude is absolutely the farthest thing from Jesus' teachings I have ever heard.

I definitely want more chapters of this wonderful story, as soon as it is available.

Thank you so very much, E Walk, for bringing us this touching story.

For those of you who don't already know, this story has been sitting around for quite some time, and I am very glad that it has finally been released to us.  It is a fine story, and certainly lives up to the high standard that E Walk's other stories, have set.
