Chapter 40
Mentoring

I was ready when Shago arrived at eight o'clock in the BW Ranch Supply truck. In addition to my muscle shirt and winter parka, I wore Levi's, work boots, and my BW cap. I wasn't working, but I didn't want to look like some hitchhiker Shago had picked up.

"Mornin' Shago. Did you sleep well?"

"Very well, Nuka. I hope you're doing better this morning."

"I am. I think a road trip will be good for me."

After we were on the main highway headed south, I started a conversation.

"Remember when I met ya last summer?"

He smiled. "Yeah, that was a day to remember for sure."

"How many times have you been seduced by a fifteen-year-old kid?"

"Only once. You had a lot of balls to wander around naked that way."

I smiled happily. "I'm an exhibitionist at heart."

"Nothing wrong with that, especially when you've got something to exhibit."

"I wanted you so bad I could taste it."

"And I was happy to cooperate."

We spent most of the trip talking about my recent experiences - a little about breaking up with Rusty, but mostly about being snowbound at the cabin.

"I think it was a good way to adjust to the breakup. I had other things to think about. And the guys I was with couldn't have been a better group of friends."

We had several stops for construction materials and ranch supplies. Halfway through, we were next to a Sonic Drive-In, so while Shago attended to the loading I walked across the street and bought our lunch.

We ate the fast food on the way out of town. When we were finished, I raised another subject.

"Shago, twice now you've known things about me somewhat mysteriously. First, that I had Native American heritage, and then yesterday you knew I needed to talk with you and Coach. When I asked how ya knew, you said, 'You told me'. What did you mean, and how does it work?"

Shago thought for a few minutes before responding.

"Sometimes it's just an intuition, like with your heritage. Yesterday was different. I got a clear image in my mind of Rusty and Nate looking at rings, and I felt your distress. That's rare, but it has happened, and when it does, I act on it."

After a few moments, he continued. "After I dropped you off yesterday, I went back to Nelson Jewelry and stood near the cash register where you were standing. I looked around and saw exactly what I'd seen in my vision, except of course Rusty and Nate weren't there. After I left, I wondered if Mr. Nelson thought I was casing the place for a robbery."

I laughed. "You better watch out. He may report you as a suspicious person."

He chuckled. "Yeah, I'd explain it to him, but that might make it worse."

"So, I guess the next question is, why me?"

"On the few occasions this has happened, it's been someone with Native American heritage. It's random. Beyond that, I have no explanation."

************

Late in the afternoon, we backed the truck up against the BW Ranch Supply loading dock and got out. Shago had paperwork to return. I was going to wait by his pickup, but he had other ideas.

"Come on in with me. There's something I want to show you."

After he was finished in the office, he directed me to the pet supply section.

"You've been thinking about wearing a collar, haven't you?"

"Yeah, I was looking at them online last night, and thinking about that during our trip. But how did you know?" I paused only briefly, and then grinned. "You didn't pick up another image, did you?"

He smiled. "No, only an intuition this time."

I laughed. "I hope you can't read my mind all the time. It could become embarrassing."

"Fortunately, it doesn't work like that."

"Yeah, I'd like to get a collar, but I'm not a sub in a BDSM relationship."

"That's not the only reason for wearing one. Some guys wear them as a fashion item or a statement about themselves, sometimes with a caption that makes that statement clear. And some simply because it makes them feel more secure."

I was confused. "But why should I look here? I also read that collars for dogs are made differently. The D-ring is next to the buckle so that both are in the back when the dog is on a leash. The human version has the D-ring opposite the buckle."

He chuckled. "You've been doing your research." He picked up a box of collars. "If you look closely, you'll see why these are on sale. They were ordered by mistake. They belong in an adult store."

I looked through the collars in the box. Some were rainbow colored, but I was drawn to the black leather ones. Some had words engraved on the side like "Slave","Slut", and "Bitch". Buried in the bottom, one even said "Cum Dump". I laughed and showed it to Shago.

"Yeah, these were definitely ordered by mistake, and they're not statements I wanna make about myself. Maybe I should get a plain one."

Then I saw the one I wanted - black leather, about an inch wide. A caption in front, split by the D-ring, read, YES I AM CUTE BUT I DO BITE. I showed it to Shago, and he laughed out loud.

"That is perfect for you. A human collar with a puppy message. It's something I can hear you saying, with a sly grin on your face. Try it on. Make sure it fits."

It did. Shago bought it, and I left the store wearing it, to the puzzled looks of the employees and other customers.

Getting into Shago's pickup, we drove north out of town. Shago looked at me.

"Are you hungry?"

"Yeah, now that you mention it, I could use some food."

"You remember the roadhouse we went to last summer? The one where we sat outside because you were wearin' nothing but cargo shorts?"

"And you had to protect me from the customers who wanted me for an appetizer?"

"That's the one. Let's go there again."

"You're okay with drivin' that far?"

"Sure."

"I bet the outdoor seating is closed for the winter, but nobody would be shirtless now anyway."

"Why not? The roadhouse is a gay hangout where exhibitionism knows no season." He checked me out. "You're off to a good start - Levi's and work boots. Take off your shirt and you'd be the roadhouse poster boy."

I grinned. "Cool! I wanna do that."

Shago smiled wickedly. "Okay. I'll buy dinner if you do. But you're a big boy now, so you're on your own if the other customers try to dip their breadsticks in you."

I laughed. "They can dip their breadsticks in me if they want to."

"What are you wearin' under your Levi's?"

"Nothin'."

"That, along with being half-naked, will make you the perfect appetizer."

************

After a twenty-mile drive, we pulled into the parking lot. At five-thirty, it was dark. Even though it was Friday night, the lot contained fewer than a dozen cars.

I tossed my parka and shirt into the pickup, and checked that my Levi's were riding low like they were designed to. The collar and the BW Ranch Supply cap stayed on. Shago checked me out.

"Perfect! I love the collar. It looks good on you and makes a statement that you're unique and proud of it."

"Cool. I like how it feels too."

We walked in, talking casually. Johnny Lee was singing "Looking for love in all the wrong places." The song seemed to be a personal message to me.

The roadhouse was about half full, mostly couples, and almost all male. Several guys were sitting at the bar which occupied part of one wall. The air was thick with smoke. I'd learned the last time the drinking-age laws were ignored. Apparently the no-smoking laws were ignored, too.

In the back were two single-occupant unisex restrooms, labeled "Who" and "Whom". I smiled to myself. It was a subtle grammatical reference to giving or receiving action.

Near the door was a bulletin board with local announcements. Interspersed were a few personal ads, put there by guys looking for specific relationships.

Shago led me to an unoccupied table, far enough from the others so we could talk. I sat down opposite him and looked towards the bar.

"Hey, check out the bartender. He's shirtless and dressed like me."

Shago grinned. "See, you're right in style. He's a friend of mine. He doesn't card anyone. If you order a beer, you'll get it."

The bartender, who doubled as the waiter, was a hot blond guy who seemed barely old enough to serve alcohol. He came over and handed us menus and a beer list.

"I'm Cooter, and I'll be your waiter. May I get you gentlemen something to drink? I recommend the Payette 12 Gauge Imperial Stout, on tap. A great winter beer."

I recognized him now - the carny from the fair last summer who'd tried to seduce Jason. He'd been wearing dirty jeans and a ripped muscle shirt. He looked quite different cleaned up. I had a question about the Imperial Stout.

"It's not the Mexican Chocolate version, is it?"

"No, it's the regular one."

"That's what I'll have."

Shago went with the flow. "I'll have one too."

Cooter nodded. "An excellent choice. I'll leave you to look at your menus and be right back."

Shago waited until he was out of earshot. "How did you know that?"

"From a party last summer."

"You impressed him. And me too."

I smiled. "And I got a beer."

A guy sitting at the bar wandered over. He put a hand on my shoulder.

"Can I buy you guys a beer?"

I replied. "Maybe later, thanks. We just ordered."

He patted me on the back. "Okay. Let me know when."

Our would-be benefactor went back to the bar to continue with his drink.

Cooter brought our beers, and we both ordered fish and chips.

The door opened and Matt and Josh came in with their friend Jaylen, the varsity quarterback, along with a few flakes of snow. Like myself, Jaylen was a recent transplant from Boise. I waved at them, and they waved back with looks of surprise and mild curiosity. They found a table in the far corner. When they'd taken off their coats, they came over to greet us. I stood up and gave them fist bumps.

"How are you guys doin'?"

Matt replied. "Great. How about you?"

"I'm doin' fine. Guys, let me introduce you to my friend Shago. Shago, this is Matt, and these guys are Josh and Jaylen. They're friends from school. Shago is Coach's brother and my good friend."

Shago shook their hands. "I think I've seen some of you at the quarry."

Matt replied. "Yeah, that's why you look familiar. Nice meeting you." They stepped back to return to their table. "You guys have a good evening."

"You too."

Our food was quickly delivered. As we ate, I told Shago about Matt and Josh's poker game turned fuck party that I'd walked in on. From the occasional glances our way, I suspected we were likewise the topic of conversation at their table.

When we were finished, Shago went to the bar and settled our bill. I thought we were ready to go, but when he came back, he sat down with another activity in mind.

"Were you serious about letting the other customers dip their sticks in you?"

"Yeah, I'm serious. If I had the opportunity, I'd let them do it."

"How many guys have you had sex with?"

The question surprised me. Not that I was reluctant to tell him, but why did he want to know? I thought for a moment. "Ten."

"Were they all friends, or friends of friends?"

"You were the only exception. At the time, other than your connection with BW Ranch Supply, you were a stranger."

"You're looking for sex in a place where there will be more exceptions. Have you given that any thought?"

"No, I haven't."

Shago paused for a few moments.

"There was a reason why I protected you from the other customers last summer. It's not a good idea to have sex with a total stranger, especially an older stranger, and that includes me. You were fortunate I turned out to be Coach's brother. What do you know about the guy who offered to buy us beers, for example?"

I was quiet for a moment. "Nothing."

"Correct. At least I was local and had a connection with BW Ranch Supply. I said earlier you're a big boy and on your own, and I meant it. You can do what you want to, but I want you to think about what that means. You weren't excited about collars that said "Bitch", "Slut", and "Cum Dump". Do you really want to be a roadhouse cum dump?"

"No, I guess not." I grinned. "Except maybe for the shirtless bartender."

Shago laughed. "I know Cooter. You can put him in the friend-of-a-friend category."

I was trying to reconcile Cooter-friend-of-Shago with Cooter-the-carny. I wanted to think about it for a while before I discussed it with Shago, or anyone else for that matter. In the meantime, Shago had more to say.

"What I'd like to do is leave you here on your own for a while. Talk with the guy at the bar. See what he's like. Maybe strike up a conversation with someone else. Talk with your friends. If the subject of sex comes up, use your own judgement. Just keep what I said in mind. Text me if you need me. I won't be far away."

************

I sat down on the last stool at the right end of the bar beside my benefactor. He was in his late twenties, and judging from his physical condition, he worked out a lot. I put my hand on his shoulder.

"I'll take you up on that beer now, buddy. But I'll say up front that I'd just like to get acquainted."

"Cool. What are you drinking?"

"The Imperial Stout."

He ordered one. While it was being delivered, I introduced myself.

"I'm Toby, but my friends call me Hot Kid."

He shook the hand I held out. "I'm Will, but my friends call me Will."

I laughed at his joke. "Works for me, Will."

"Your friends tagged you well."

We talked about a variety of subjects for several minutes, but not about ourselves. In spite of my opening comment about only getting acquainted, his right hand spent most of the time on my back and shoulders. That was fine with me, but all he was going to get for his beer was touching. He had other ideas. He dropped hints, and finally became more direct.

"I'd love to mess around with you, Hot Kid."

"You mean you wanna screw me?"

He smiled. "You get right to the point, don't you?"

"Yeah, I do. But I meant what I said. I just wanna get acquainted. Screwing will have to wait until I know you better."

He smiled. "I respect that, but of course I had to test it."

I grinned at him. "Not a problem. I consider it a compliment. Maybe another time then?"

"Another time. Maybe when you're a little older, too."

After he finished his beer, he stood up to leave, and offered me his hand.

"It's been nice getting to know you, Hot Kid. Have a good evening."

"Thanks, Will. I'll look forward to seeing you again." I smiled at him. "Next time I'll buy."

He chuckled. "Works for me."

Will had failed to leave a tip, so as Cooter picked up our empty glasses, I put a fiver on the counter.

"Save my seat for me if you would please, Cooter. I gotta use the restroom."

Cooter smiled. "No problem."

When I returned, I ordered another drink.

"Could I get a Coke? I gotta back off on the beer."

"Certainly. This one's on the house."

"Thanks!"

I took a sip of my soft drink. I was pleased with the way I'd handled my interaction with Will. I could be sociable at the roadhouse without having sex with every guy who propositioned me. I was thinking about that when another guy, younger than WIll, sat down beside me.

"Hey, kid, how's it going?" He offered me his hand. "I'm Joey."

I shook his hand. "My friends call me Hot Kid."

He smiled. "I guess I'm your friend then."

I smiled back. "Works for me."

We chatted for several minutes. He was a twenty-three-year-old contractor from Emmett. I told him about where I lived and how I loved my life as a ranch boy, transplanted from the city. I learned he knew Aiden and his father through the construction business. He also knew Rusty's brother Pete, and Pete's girlfriend, Heather.

I liked this guy, and we had friends in common. His advances were subtle - a hand on my shoulder to emphasize a point, an occasional brief backrub. I knew he was interested, but he was looking for a clue from me. I decided to give him one. As we talked, I rubbed the tent in my Levi's formed by my rigid pole. He noticed.

"Do you always play with yourself in public?"

"Only when I'm lookin' for action."

He looked at my collar and smiled. "You are kind of cute. How bad is your bite?"

I grinned at him. "I've had all of my shots."

He laughed. "When I was your age trying to find myself, I propositioned a guy much like you're doing. He was cool with it, and let me do it to him. I've always appreciated that, so it's time for me to pass the favor along. If you want to, you can screw me in one of the restrooms."

I smiled. "Thanks. I'll take you up on that."

We both went into "Whom". He dropped his pants and braced himself against the sink, watching me in the mirror.

"Okay, go for it."

After preparing myself with one of my single-use lube packets, I buried my boner deep in his ass and fucked him, making sure he could see from my reflection how much fun I was having. While I pleasured myself, I thought about what a cool guy he was to share his own experience with me, and then do the same for me.

When I was done, he reached for a paper towel, wet it, and wiped up the cum that leaked out.

"You drop a big load, Hot Kid."

"Sorry about that. Thanks for lettin' me do it."

He grinned at my reflection in the mirror.

"No problem, buddy. Glad to help out."

I waited. He looked at my reflection again.

"Something on your mind?"

"Yeah, there is. Do you wanna fuck me now?"

He laughed. "I like you, Hot Kid. Yeah, I'd love to fuck you."

************

When Joey was finished, he left the restroom first. I locked the door and cleaned myself up. When I came out, Joey was gone and Matt had claimed the barstool next to mine. As I sat down, he turned to me.

"Hey, Hot Kid. Josh and Jaylen had to leave, so I thought I'd hang out with you for a while before I go home."

Although we sat together on the bus, I didn't move in Matt's circle of jock friends, so I found his desire to join me interesting.

"Cool!"

"So, where'd Shago go?"

"I don't know. He said he'd be back later."

"It looked like you were gettin' some action while he's gone."

I grinned happily. "Yeah, while the cat's away the kitten will stray."

He laughed at my weak joke, and then gave me an invitation.

"I'm havin' a party tomorrow night at my parents' place." He smiled. "As my parents will be gone, this is another case of the kitten straying while the cats are away. Would you like to come?"

He was sucking up to me.

"That'd be awesome."

"Super! Eight o'clock. You know where I live?"

"Yup. If I get lost, I'll text ya."

He paused for a moment. "So, where did you get your cool collar? I want one like it."

It was bullshit.

I smiled. "Like me, it's one of a kind."

We talked for a few minutes more before Matt got to the topic I'd been expecting.

"You've got a nice body, Hot Kid. I've been wantin' to have a little fun with you ever since I met you. When you started sitting with me on the bus, I hoped that meant you had the same thing in mind."

I wasn't going to disappoint him. I grinned.

"Busted!"

He laughed. "The cat's still away. Does the kitten wanna stray a little more?"

My grin broadened. "I'd be up for some fun. Is there a place where we can do it here?"

"There's a picnic table by a grove of trees at the end of the building. I've used it before, but in warmer weather. Do you have a coat, or at least a shirt?"

"No, that stuff is all in Shago's pickup, but I'm still game to try it if you are."

He was. We were out in the cold for about ten minutes. Sheltered on three sides by an arborvitae hedge, it wasn't too bad. Taking it from Matt while braced against a picnic table, stimulated by occasional snowflakes, had to be every bit as good as Rusty getting it in bed.

When he was finished, he pulled out and patted me on the ass.

"I'd do that again in a heartbeat."

I stood up and stretched. I was shivering, but it was well worth the time in the cold.

"And I'd be glad to have you do it."

Matt took off, and I went back inside. Shago was sitting at our original table. Still shivering, I sat down next to him. He looked at me, and grinned.

"There are snowflakes in your hair. Where have you been?"

"Outdoors." I smiled. "Using my judgement."

"In what way?"

"I talked with the guy at the bar but turned him down. Then I met a guy named Joey. He knows Aiden and his dad and Pete. I was comfortable with him, so I did it with him. And just now, I was outside takin' a load from Matt."

He laughed at my report.

"Just so you know, I asked Cooter to keep an eye on you. He said you had a good time."

"He's right, it was fun. Thanks for the opportunity to be a big boy. I hope I did it right."

"You're welcome, Nuka. It sounds to me like you did okay."

As we left, Johnny Lee was again singing "Looking for love in all the wrong places." Maybe, maybe not. That hot shirtless bartender had potential.
