Chapter 1
The Journey Begins
Boxes everywhere. Tyler packed up everything he
needed for school into his Jeep. The last thing he had to do was go through the
photo albums and pull out all of the pictures he wanted to create a brand new
album to take with him.
*Knock, knock*
“Come in,” he yelled.
“Tyler! It’s me… I just wanted to see how your packing was going?” Mrs. Johnson
said.
“Almost done, Mrs. J., but I’m glad you are here. Uncle David is coming over
shortly and we can go over everything now so I can leave early in the morning,”
Tyler said.
“Oh, Tyler, are you sure you want to do this? I mean going to school in the
U.S.? It’s almost 12 hours away from here,” asked Mrs. Johnson.
“I’m sure Toronto will continue on without me, Mrs. J.” He smiled. “Now let me
show you what I’ve done and what I need you to do.”
“Sure Tyler, anything for you. You know that!” she said.
“Yes I do, and that’s why I love you so much, you’ve always been here for me.
Over here are all the thank-you cards for the flowers, gifts, and donations.
I’ve put stamps on them all and they need is to be mailed. These boxes over here
are all marked for the people who wanted something of Mom and Dad’s to remember
them by. Most will pick them up after they’ve called you to arrange a convenient
time. Someone from Good Will will be by to pick up Mom and Dad’s clothing as
well as David’s. There is some stuff boxed up in David’s room for his friends to
have and I’ve prepared a detailed list of everyone with their phone numbers,
names, addresses, and the corresponding boxes for each one. One last thing,
there is some stuff boxed up for Uncle David but I don’t want you to give it to
him until after I have left. Are you sure you can handle all of this?” Tyler
asked.
“It won’t be a problem at all. I’m retired with nothing to do anyway,” smiled
Mrs. Johnson.
“Great, Mrs. J., I couldn’t have done this without you. Uncle David is going to
have some papers for you to sign simply stating that you are in charge of the
house. There will be a bank account set up for you to handle any expenses like
having the driveway shoveled this winter or paying someone to cut the lawn. All
household bills and property taxes will be sent to his law firm and he will
manage everything else himself. If you have any problems he is simply a phone
call away,” explained Tyler.
“Okay, Tyler, I am only too happy to be able to help. Are you going to put the
house up for sale?” she asked.
“Not for at least one year. It was specified in their will that Mom and Dad
didn’t want any changes and Uncle David said it was a smart idea for me to have
a home to come to if things don’t go well at school,” answered Tyler.
“I’m sure things will go well for you at school. They don’t give scholarships to
just anyone!” replied Mrs. Johnson.
“I’m sure they will too, Mrs. J. I just can’t be in this house any longer… at
least right now,” Tyler said sadly.
“I understand, Tyler. You’re so brave,” said Mrs. Johnson, sniffling.
“Don’t start crying, Mrs. J., or we’ll both start and never quit, and then the
house will be flooded and so on…,” laughed Tyler.
*Knock, knock*
“UNCLE DAVID!!!!!! Thanks for coming, ” exclaimed Tyler.
“Anything for my favourite nephew! How are you this evening, Mrs. Johnson?”
asked David.
“I’m more than a little bit sad about losing Tyler, Mr. Peel. I don’t think I
can handle not having him around. This has been such a horrible month,” Mrs.
Johnson sighed.
“Please Mrs. Johnson, call me David,” he requested.
“Fine, David, if you’ll call me Pat or Patricia,” she said.
“Okay, okay, enough of the niceties, I have 12 hours of driving to do tomorrow.
Uncle David, I went over everything with Mrs. J. but I know you need to explain
some things also,” Tyler remarked.
“Right Tyler! Now, Patricia, umm Pat, you are going to become a contract
employee of mine to handle managing the day-to-day affairs. Collect the mail and
forward it to me, arrange basic maintenance and check on the house from time to
time. You will be paid a monthly fee and you will have a bank account to
withdraw any funds you feel necessary towards the maintenance of the property,”
David declared.
“Oh my goodness! I couldn’t possibly accept any money for it. I am honoured
simply to be able to help Tyler out,” she objected.
“Oh no, Mrs. J. This is serious! In order to keep the insurance on the house we
have to employ someone to watch over the house. Besides, I wouldn’t ask anyone
to do this without paying them for it and you are the one person I can trust.
And you too, of course, Uncle David,” Tyler said winking at him. “I didn’t mean
that you couldn’t be trusted either.”
“It’s okay, Tyler, I didn’t think you meant it that way. Now, Pat, if you have
any problems just simply call my office. Only the three of us have permission to
be in this house and anyone else inside the house must have the authority of one
of us. I have all the paper work drawn up for you, Pat, to show that you have
the authority to do anything you feel necessary… except sell the house. Now,
Tyler, here are all your papers you will need for crossing the border into the
U.S. Do you have your passport, birth certificate, and admission papers from
Drexel?” Uncle David asked.
“Yup, got it all Uncle David. Besides… I know where I can find a great lawyer if
I need one!” laughed Tyler.
“Okay kiddo, you know how proud we are of you and you better call your Aunt
Sarah when you get there! I have enough to listen to from her right now about
your leaving.” He smiled at Tyler and pulled him in for a hug. “I love you,
Tyler, so very much. Don’t forget that you still have a lot of family that love
you. You are never alone.”
“I know, Uncle David. If Mom and Dad hadn’t thought you were great they never
would have named my brother after you. I can assure you that my first son will
be named David after you and my brother.”
Tears were running down from both David and Tyler’s eyes as they broke away from
their hug.
“Are you sure you won’t come over for dinner tonight?” he asked Tyler.
“Thanks, but I want to spend my last night here alone. I think I need to have
some closure so that I can concentrate on school,” replied Tyler.
“Okay, Ty. I love you and make sure you call regularly and let me know your new
phone number and address. I have a lot of paperwork that will need your
signature over the next six months and you better haul your ass up here for
Christmas or else!!!” he said, wiping a tear away.
“I’ll keep you posted and you have my email address. I love you, Uncle David,
and thanks for everything. I couldn’t have made it through the last month
without the both of you.”
David said goodbye to both Tyler and Patricia and then left.
“Well, I’ll get out of your way, Tyler. You’ll drop over in the morning before
you leave?” she asked.
“Not likely, Mrs. J. I would just start crying and then I wouldn’t be able to
drive… you know what I mean?” he answered.
“I understand, Tyler, but you’d better honk!” She laughed as she pulled Tyler
into a tight hug.
“I will, I promise. I can’t even begin to thank you for everything--for being
here now and for all the times you’ve been here for my family and me. I have
some things I want you to have and you’ll find them boxed up with your name on
them but there’s one gift I made for you and I want to give it to you right now
if that is okay?” Tyler said.
“Oh, Tyler, you don’t need to give me anything,” she demurred.
“It isn’t about whether I need to give you anything. I want to give this to you.
I made it for you,” Tyler said softly.
Tyler handed Mrs. Johnson a flat package wrapped in brown paper. She opened it
upside down to see that it was a picture frame. Upon flipping it over and
looking at the picture she started to cry.
“Don’t cry, Mrs. J.,” he pleaded.
“Tyler, it’s so beautiful! When did you do this?” She said, putting her hand to
her mouth
“Just in the last couple of weeks. Someone gave me this picture they took of all
of us with Tucker at the Canada Day picnic… you know, the day before… and I did
a charcoal sketch of all of us. It’s a one of a kind, Mrs. J. It might even be
of some value one day,” Tyler said, trying to lighten the moment.
“It’s of great value right now, Tyler.” She said through her tears as she hugged
Tyler tightly. “I don’t know what to say.”
“You don’t need to say anything. I just wanted you to know how special you are
and how much we all appreciate your being a friend and a neighbour. I’m sure if
Mom and Dad could be here they would do something better but I wanted to give
you something that I made just for you,” Tyler said.
Mrs. Johnson hugged Tyler again and said goodnight to him, wishing him a safe
trip in the morning. When Mrs. Johnson left, Tyler collapsed on to the sofa
thinking that it had gone smoother than he had thought it would. He wondered
when he would be cried out himself. He turned off the lights, locked the front
door, filled Tucker’s water bowl but then realized that he didn’t need to do
that anymore. He sat down on the kitchen floor and cried, hugging Tucker’s bowl.
Looking over at the oven door he saw his reflection and turned away. He couldn’t
look at himself with tears running down his face.
Tyler sat down at the kitchen table and began flipping through the photo albums
looking for pictures he wanted to take with him. He couldn’t decide and didn’t
really feel like looking at them right now.
“Damn it! I’ll just take all of them with me and organize them at Drexel,” he
decided.
Tyler went into the washroom and brushed his teeth. Packing up his shaving kit,
he left for his bedroom stopping to look in at David’s bedroom. The Maple Leafs’
bedspread with the matching lamp, his collection of broken hockey sticks,
pennants, posters, and trophies were everywhere. Aside from a few things Tyler
wanted from David’s room it was the only room in the house left virtually
untouched. Tyler pulled out the hard drive from David’s computer and also kept
his autographed picture of Bobby Orr, David’s most prized possession. “Good
night, David, I love you,” he whispered.
Crossing the hallway into his parent’s room he flipped on the overhead light.
There were boxes everywhere. It looked like someone had just moved in. He could
still notice the smells of his parents. Sitting on the dresser was a bottle of
his mother’s perfume. He grabbed it and then turned off the light, closing the
door behind him.
As he shut his bedroom door he remembered how often he had wanted to be alone in
the house and during the times when that happened he wanted nothing more than
for his family to be at home.
“Careful what you wish for, Ty…,” he said aloud to himself.
Stripping down naked he stopped to look in the mirror. He had his mother’s face
with the deep, piercing eyes that he and David had inherited from their Father.
He turned sideways to look at his taut tummy and flexed his bulging biceps. His
sculpted chest was the envy of everyone from his hockey team to most of the
girls in his senior year. His deep blond-brown hair came from ‘the milkman’ his
Dad had always said, but he knew that his fully erect 8” penis came from his
Dad. Well… on a good day it was 8 inches. Tyler ran his fingers through his
hair. If the hair stood up higher than his flat hand then it was too long!
Rubbing his three days of facial growth, he cursed himself for having to shave.
There was nothing that he hated more. Tyler had no body hair anywhere else
except for his nicely trimmed crotch and under his arms. Guys would tease him
that he shaved his legs but he would simply respond that he wished he had to
shave his legs instead of his face.
Looking seriously into the mirror he said, “Mom! Dad! I never got around to
telling you this but… I am gay! There, I said it! I hope you are not too
disappointed in me. Well… I know you would be Dad, but it’s time for me to be
me. Yeah, Dad, I know I dated lots of girls but believe me it never meant
anything with any of them but one. I had to find out for sure and now I know I
am sure. I’m sorry you’re not going to be grandparents but I thought I should
tell you before I leave for school and before I tell anyone else. No more hiding
myself from the real world.”
Tyler stared in the mirror waiting for a response that never came. Pulling on
some boxers he crawled into bed and turned out the light. Looking over at his
alarm clock it read 8:43 p.m. He’d never been to bed this early even when he was
home sick from school. Tomorrow would be 12 hours in a cramped Jeep and he
wanted to get a morning run in before leaving.
“Dear God, I know we haven’t exactly been the closest of buddies and I really
don’t know much about praying, but I think I need your help right now.” With
that, Tyler rolled over, grabbed his extra pillow to hug and closed his eyes as
he mumbled into the pillow, “David, I miss you so much.”
Tyler’s shadow was shrinking as he approached home. It was already too humid
this early in the morning. The glare of a now full sun reflected off each parked
car he jogged by.
Squinting his eyes he said, “Shit!” looking at his watch. “It’s already 5:15 and
I want to be on the road before six.” He picked up his pace to get home and get
showered. Trying to capture every image he passed in his mind, as this would be
the last time he would jog here for the next year, if ever again.
After tossing the photo albums in his Jeep he climbed the steps to the front
door to lock it. Taking one last peek inside, he pulled the door shut and turned
the dead bolt. He never looked back again at his home, hoping the pain of what
he caused would not follow him.
With the engine running, seat belt on, and his MP3 player plugged in he ducked
down to look out the passenger window. There was Mrs. Johnson waving with one
hand and wiping tears away with the other. Tyler waved, honked and headed out as
quickly as possible. The last thing he needed was to be crying while driving.
One stop to fuel up on a large, black coffee was all he needed to make the
two-hour trip to the border.
The flashing sign said the wait time was only 8 minutes. He smiled knowing that
he had come during a lull in the morning rush hour traffic to cross the border.
“Your country of citizenship, Sir?” asked the State Trooper.
“Canadian, Sir,” responded Tyler as he handed him his birth certificate,
passport, driver’s license, newly issued student green card, and his admissions
letter from Penn State.
“Peel? As in Peeler of the Toronto Marlees?” exclaimed the trooper.
“Yes, Sir,” he answered hesitantly.
“Damn, Son, you’re one fine centre. I watched you kick Welland’s ass,” he said.
“Ummm thank you Sir.” he replied.
“Now where are you going, Tyler?” the trooper inquired.
“I’m attending Drexel in Philly, on an international scholarship, Sir,” he
stated.
“A hockey scholarship? Well you deserve it from what I’ve seen,” remarked the
trooper.
“Thank you Sir, but the scholarship isn’t a hockey scholarship. It’s from the
Engineering Faculty. I turned down the hockey one so that someone else could
have it and I still get to play,” explained Tyler.
“Don’t you want to play in the NHL, son?” said the trooper, raising an eyebrow.
“No, Sir, I just want to get an education,” he declared.
“Okay, Son… Are you carrying any weapons, alcohol, or tobacco with you today?”
he recited.
“No, Sir. I don’t really drink much, and I don’t smoke, and my only dangerous
weapon is my throwing arm when I play baseball… I wouldn’t even stand near the
ball park if they asked me to pitch,” Tyler laughed.
“Well… everything looks to be in order, Mr. Peel. Have a safe trip and remember
that our speed limit is 55 mph maximum,” he said as he handed Tyler back his
identification and paperwork.
“Yes Sir, and thank you Sir. You have a great day too!” he responded.
Putting the Jeep back into drive Tyler slowly excited the booth and made his way
onto the freeway. It was after four when he began making his way into
Philadelphia. The signage leading to Drexel University was very good and his
next stop was at a security booth entering into the school grounds. After
showing identification and his school paperwork he was handed a self-addressed
brown envelope with a map on the top of it. Tyler followed the map to the back
of a dorm residence. As hardly anyone was around he parked next to handicapped
parking, got out, stretched his legs and headed to the back door.
“Can I help you?” asked the security guard through a speaker at the back door.
“Yes Sir, I was handed this package and told to report here.” announced Tyler.
*Bzzzzzzzz* Tyler pulled the door open and walked inside. A voice over a speaker
told him to proceed to the front of the building. He walked into a large common
area where a middle-aged black man in a uniform with ‘Security’ written on his
upper left pocket asked to see his envelope. Tyler handed the unopened envelope
to ‘Gus’ reading the label on the right breast pocket.
“Can I see some identification Mr. Peel?” he asked.
“Yes, Sir, and it’s just Tyler, Sir.
“Alright, Tyler,” smiled Gus, “Would you like me to show you to your room?”
“Yes Sir, if you wouldn’t mind. Ten hours ago I was in Toronto. It’s been a long
day and it’s only … 4:30 p.m,” said Tyler as he looked at his watch.
Gus laughed and took him to the rear elevator that would make moving in much
easier. Gus pushed 5 on the elevator and the door closed. He walked Tyler to his
new room for the next semester.
“Now Tyler, open up your envelope there and you will find the key to your room
and your identification card. You will need the card to get in and out of the
building until school officially starts unless you are with someone and they can
vouch for you. You can bring anyone in here but you will responsible for him or
her. All guests must be signed in at the front desk. The rest of the information
is in your package and if you really can’t sleep some night I recommend you read
it,” he said winking at him. “Any other questions, Tyler?”
“Yes, Sir, are we the only two people in this building?”
“At the moment… probably. There are a few other students living here but they
don’t begin to pile in until the first weekend of September.
“Okay, I just thought there would be other members of the hockey team here.”
“Very few of the hockey boys stay in this dorm. Most of the football team will
be here, though. Now why don’t you go look around your room and I’ll prop the
back door open for you to move your stuff in. Just make sure you shut the door
when you are finished, okay?”
“Yes, Sir, and thank you for your help.”
“No problem Son, you have a good year here,” Gus said as he turned and headed
for the elevator.
Tyler looked at the door and saw his name and the name Derek Anderson on the
door. At least he knew the name of his new roommate. Opening the door he looked
down a long hallway with door on his right and two double door closets on his
left. Peeking into the bathroom he turned on the light to see a toilet and sink
but no shower. Heading down to the end of the hall the room opened up to the
right. If you looked down upon his dorm room it would be like a giant letter F.
In the centre of the room were two bunk beds side by side with the head of the
beds at the large picture window. One could almost walk under the beds if it
weren’t for the two large desks. In front of the bunk beds was a small loveseat
made from a wood frame with navy blue pads on it. Definitely looked like
something from Ikea, Tyler thought. There was a corner unit with a couple of
drawers in the far right corner and a 5-drawer chest on each side of it. If you
walked straight down the hallway without turning there was another closet next
to the outside wall. A walk-in closet to be exact! Its twin was on the opposite
wall facing it. The only problem Tyler could see with the room would be privacy.
If they had only built a wall between the desks and beds then each could have
their own space.
Tyler sat down on the loveseat and pulled out all of the documentation from his
envelope. The first thing he discovered is that there was a dinner being held
tomorrow night for the team on the campus. He also had to see the team doctor
for a physical at 9:45 a.m. tomorrow and couldn’t have any food or water after
midnight. There was a list of every player and each one had an appointment 15
minutes apart. Flipping out his cell phone he tried to call his Uncle to tell
him that he had arrived but it wouldn’t work. He wasn’t sure if it was because
of his Canadian cell phone number or simply being in the building. The first
thing he would do is hook up his computer and email him. After bringing all of
his boxes and clothing up to the room he decided to choose the bed farthest away
from the entrance. This would give him a little more privacy. He hooked up his
notebook computer and found out that he had working cable internet. They even
gave him a Drexel start-up disk to load up his network connection. Included on
the disk was a map of the campus and most of the information anyone would ever
need. He wondered if the Dining Hall would be open and if his dining card would
work yet?
“I’m starved!” he said aloud. “Time to go get some food.”
Packing all of the contents back into the envelope, he headed to his Jeep and
went in search of food.
“Mm mm mm mm mm…. Quiznos! Yes!” drooled a starving Tyler. He grabbed a large
Chicken Carbonara, a bowl of chilli, and a Coke. In the same strip mall was a
bakery so he looked in and got himself a couple of pecan tarts.
“If you buy six, you get a free brownie!” the girl behind the counter told him.
“Ummm okay… but could you put four of the tarts in a separate bag please?” he
asked her.
“Why shore I can, Honey… You ain’t from ‘round here iz you?” she asked.
“No Ma’am, I’m from Toronto, Canada,” replied Tyler.
“Welcome to Philly, have an extra brownie,” she said, looking around to make
sure no one else saw her put it in the second bag. “We are of course the city of
‘sisterly love.’”
Tyler laughed, saying, “Thank you very much ma’am, after a 10 hour drive I
‘shore’ do appreciate it!” He paid her and headed back to the dorm. Walking up
to the back door of the dorm he noticed the card reader and swiped his
identification card. The door buzzed and he was able to open it. Instead of
going in the rear elevator, he walked through to the front entrance were Gus was
reading the sports page.
Tyler handed Gus the bag with four pecan tarts and a bonus brownie in it. “This
is for you, Sir. I just wanted to say thanks for your being so kind to me this
afternoon.”
“Why … Tyler isn’t it? Thank you! That is kind of you. Nobody ever does anything
like this anymore.”
“It wasn’t anything, Sir, I just wanted to say thank you, and maybe bribe you in
advance in case I need more help finding my way around here,” he winked at Gus.
“Anytime Tyler, and please, YOU can call me Gus, but don’t let it get around and
I’m always here from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. during the week!” He winked back.
“Thank you Sir, umm Gus. I am looking for a job. I have experience in a
restaurant so if you hear of something please let me know?” requested Tyler.
Gus only nodded as he perused the contents of the paper bag Tyler had given him.
After eating and sending a couple of emails he read further about tomorrow’s
events. He would need to be in semi-formal dress for the dinner. There were
three tours of the campus and their facilities being given to the hockey team
starting at noon, two, and four. He was scheduled into the 12-noon tour.
“Ah… lunch is included… better save the brownie and take it with me just in
case!” he decided.
As tired as Tyler was he decided to get out of his clothes and take a shower.
After stripping himself naked he wrapped a towel around his waist and headed out
with his key and shaving kit in search of a shower. The building was like a
giant letter H with the elevators located in the centre of the ‘H’ and the
common rooms next to the elevators.
“HELLO!!!!!” he yelled. “HELLLLLOOOOOO anybody home?” He heard a door open and
close. Once again he yelled. He saw a head stick out of dorm room.
“Hi, I’m Tyler, do you know where the showers are?” he hollered.
The head just stared at him and Tyler figured he didn’t hear him or understand
him so he began walking toward the bodiless man. The door quickly shut and when
Tyler approached he could see someone moving back and forth past a light through
the peephole in the door. Knocking on the door he heard more noise and rumbling
around. Finally a boy about Tyler’s age opened the door still only showing his
now red face. He looked Tyler up and down noticing his sculpted chest and tan.
The boy looked to be kind of small and geeky but cute in a boyish way. A few
freckles matched his straight brown hair cut high above the ears. Tyler
immediately decided he would make one his imaginary bets with himself and wager
that the kid had a closet full of brown plaid shirts.
“Hi, did I frighten you or did I interrupt you?” Tyler said flashing his pearly
white teeth with the matching grin that drove girls wild.
“Uh … no …,” he said.
“I’m Tyler, and you are…”
“I’m Danny,” he said as he awkwardly tried to extend his hand around the door to
shake Tyler’s hand without opening the door any further. Tyler noticed that he
was also wearing a towel and figured he had caught the poor kid in the act.
“I’m really sorry for interrupting you or scaring you… I was just trying to find
out where the showers are in this place and I was hoping there was someone else
on this floor who would know? It looks like you are about to go have a shower
too? Maybe we could shower together?” Tyler rambled.
Danny’s eyes opened like he just seen a ghost and Tyler realized what he had
meant to say didn’t come out as planned.
“Oh, yeah… I was going to take a shower. Just let me grab my stuff,” Danny said.
and the door closed behind him leaving Tyler in the hall shaking his head and
laughing to himself. Just as quickly the door opened and Danny reappeared
wearing slippers with blue grey boxers on and holding the towel in front of his
crotch. He wasn’t the small-framed wimp he first thought. Danny had muscle and
had a really cute smile. Now wearing glasses, his blue eyes seemed to get lost.
“You should really get contact lenses, Dan or Danny. Which do you prefer?” asked
Tyler.
“Either is fine,” Danny mumbled.
This kid was so timid that Tyler figured he could call him ‘shit head’ and he
wouldn’t mind as long as he didn’t threaten to beat him up.
“So… the shower then? As in, where is it?” Tyler asked again.
“Umm yeah… it’s at the halfway point of each hallway.” Danny replied.
“Cool, let’s go then,” exclaimed Tyler, and they began walking to the centre of
the hall.
“Have you ever thought of wearing contact lenses?” Tyler asked, out of the blue.
“Why should I wear contact lenses?” he asked Tyler.
“Cause it will show off your eyes better,” Tyler winked and led the way into the
shower area.
Turning the light switches on revealed the shower area had a communal of 5 sinks
on each side with mirrors going up to the ceiling. Beyond the sinks were a
series of shower stalls with tiled walls going up about 4 feet between each one
and hooks on the outside of each.
“Well, we might as well use the first ones on each side eh Danny?” Tyler said,
directing Danny into the shower stall directly across from himself.
“This way we can keep an eye on our stuff at the sinks in case someone comes
in.” Danny just seemed to stare at Tyler with his mouth slightly open.
Tyler reached in and turned the water on and exited the shower until the water
got hot. He slowly undid his towel facing Danny. Tyler was getting a semi just
from thinking about poor Danny. As Tyler removed his towel Danny’s mouth opened
a little wider and he dropped his head down checking him out from head to toe.
Tyler simply smiled.
“So… are you going to shower too?” remarked Tyler.
Danny almost knocked Tyler over as he hurried into the shower and turned the
water on.
“Danny?” asked Tyler.
“Yeah?” grunted Danny.
“It’s none of my business but do you normally shower with your boxers on? I mean
it’s cool if you do, weird, but cool,” and Tyler turned to get into his shower
figuring he shouldn’t tease the poor boy anymore than he already had. As the
warm water tingled over his dry body he thought about asking Danny to wash his
back but then thought that was just too much for this boy to handle. He laughed
out loud.
“What?” asked Danny.
Tyler turned around exposing his uncut semi-hard cock. “I was just wondering… do
you normally shower with your glasses on? I mean it’s cool and all…” He chuckled
to himself.
“Oh yeah, sorry.” He said turning an even deeper shade of red.
“Danny, it’s okay. It’s always a little strange showering with strangers and
everybody checks everybody else out. And between you and me, you have hot little
body there. No need to be shy about it!” Tyler winked.
“Thanks Ty, I’m not used to showering around others. Where I come from our
hockey arena doesn’t even have showers,” said Danny shyly.
“Really? That’s weird. So I guess you are on the hockey team too?” asked Tyler.
“Hopefully! I’m trying out for goaltender,” Danny said.
“Cool, dude! I’ll make sure to never score on you in practice,” Tyler winked
“Oh, Wow, you’d do that for me? Thanks Tyler, but it’s okay. I don’t want to let
the team down. I wouldn’t want the position if I didn’t earn it,” Danny said.
“Glad to hear you say that Danny. That makes you a better human being than most
of the assholes that are going to be trying out for the team. For what it’s
worth, Danny, you rank very high in my books. I hope we become good friends,”
Tyler said, extending his hand across the shower. Danny grinned the biggest
smile ever as he grabbed Tyler’s hand.
“Real friends are hard to find Danny. I hope I earn the right to be your
friend,” Tyler said.
“Shit, Ty, you already have. Hell, I’ll take any friendship,” Danny said
laughing.
“Careful Danny! People will use you. Like a good goalie, trust your instincts.
Just like knowing in advance where the puck is going to be you need to study
people. It’s easy to spot an asshole and easier to ignore the signs of one. Let
friends come to you okay?” advised Tyler.
“Thanks Ty. I understand,” Danny said.
Tyler turned off his shower stared at the fine formed ass in front of him. It
was perfect Tyler thought. A perfect upside down heart! Tight calves and thighs.
As the soap ran out of his hair and down his back over the crack of his ass
Tyler could only think of one thing that was white and would look damn fine
running over that butt. His semi had grown considerably and he didn’t realize it
until Danny shut the water off and turned around. Tyler quickly stepped out and
grabbed his towel facing away from Danny and hoping that he didn’t notice much
without his glasses on. Danny noticed!
Danny immediately popped a full-blown erection but couldn’t get by Tyler to
reach his towel.
“Could you hand me my towel, please?” asked Danny.
“No problem,” Tyler replied.
Danny was expecting Tyler to pass the towel back but Tyler turned around with an
almost full erection and briefly touched Danny’s erection. Both gasped and Danny
covered up and Tyler turned back around feeling a little embarrassed at himself
being caught erect.
Tyler wrapped his towel around him and headed over to shave at a sink. Danny,
feeling more relaxed but still horny sat on the vanity next to Tyler while he
shaved.
“I wish I had to shave. It takes a week to get a moustache,” he told Tyler,
blushing with embarrassment.
“I’d trade with you any day Danny, I hate shaving!” exclaimed Tyler. “Can I give
you a little suggestion?”
“Sure! Anything!” said Danny enthusiastically.
“I’m going to loan you a small pair of scissors and you can trim your bush. It
will make it much easier playing goalie, and besides it makes your cock look
bigger, not that you have anything to be embarrassed about!” Tyler said,
smiling.
Danny simply laughed and turned red again. “Thanks Ty, you are way too cool!” he
said. “Anyway, I had better get back to my room. I’ve got my physical at 10:00
a.m.”
“Really? Mine’s at 9:45. Maybe we could go together?” suggested Tyler.
“Sure! That would be cool, if you don’t mind?” Danny answered.
“I wouldn’t have asked if I minded. Night Danny!” Tyler said.
“Night Tyler,” replied Danny
Tyler finished shaving and thought about going back into the shower so he could
burn off a little driving tension. He really needed to blow his load but his
plan was foiled by the return of Danny.
“Shit! I can’t fucking believe this!” Danny complained.
“What? What’s wrong Danny-boy?” asked Tyler.
“I forgot my key to get back into my room,” stated Danny.
“Hey, no problem. You can come to my room and we’ll go see Gus and see if he can
help,” suggested Tyler.
“Gus? Who’s Gus?” asked Danny, perplexed.
“Gus is our afternoon-evening security guy. He’s really nice. He’ll help us
out,” explained Tyler.
“Thanks, Ty!” Danny said.
“Danny, it’s no problem. You don’t have to keep saying ‘thanks’ for everything.
Friends are there for friends okay?” Tyler said.
“Thanks, Ty. Ummm, I mean, ahhhh… I don’t know what I mean,” stammered Danny,
and they both laughed.
Tyler packed up his shaving kit and put his arm around Danny pulling him in
slightly and told him that everything would be okay. Danny partially rested his
head on Tyler’s chest and Tyler pulled Danny in closer. Neither moved apart as
they walked down Danny’s hall and over to Tyler’s hall. Tyler pulled his key out
of his shaving kit, opened the door and offered the honour of entering first to
Danny.
“Sorry about the mess. I only arrived before five this afternoon,” Tyler
apologized.
“This isn’t messy! My room is messy! My roommate is going to freak when he finds
out what living with me is like!” Danny exclaimed.
Tyler pulled off his towel and the gentle giant swung freely back and forth
never leaving Danny’s eyes. Tyler pulled out a clean pair of boxers but then
exchanged them for ones with an open fly. He knew he was being watched so he
grabbed a second pair and tossed them over his back and said, “Put these on, at
least they will be dry.”
Danny caught them mid air like any good goalie would and slid them on up under
his towel before removing it. In the reflection of the window Tyler saw what
happened and had already figured as much. He didn’t want to scare him so he
fiddled around in his drawer pretending to look for his deodorant. Turning
around naked, Danny’s eyes popped open wider while Tyler took his time stroking
his pits. He then tossed it to Danny and told him to use it. Danny came back to
reality, locked eyes with Tyler and turned away.
“Hey, you’ve got your bunk beds side by side. That’s kind of cool. Gives you
more room,” Danny observed.
“I plan to hang a drape down the centre to give more privacy… if you know what I
mean,” commented Tyler.
Danny wasn’t sure if he meant for masturbating or for bringing girls over but he
wanted to appear cool and said, “Yeah, you probably need privacy with all the
girls you get.” Tyler just ignored his comment.
“So, let’s wear our towels and go see Gus,” instructed Tyler.
Tyler grabbed his key and they left for the elevator. Upon arriving in the main
lobby they saw that Gus was nowhere to be found. Danny began to get upset. He
started shaking and Tyler got worried that he was going to pass out or worse,
die!
“Hey, hey, Danny! Relax, it’s no problem. You can bunk with me tonight and we’ll
get the morning Security dude to help us out,” Tyler said reassuringly.
“Really? Ummm I don’t know Ty. I don’t want to put you out or anything…” Danny
said haltingly.
Tyler put his arm around Danny and pulled him into him. As they walked back to
the elevator Tyler began hatching his plan. When they entered Tyler’s room again
he asked Danny to help him move the loveseat against the hallway wall. This left
a large open space on the floor in front of the ends of the two bunk beds. Tyler
opened his walk-in closet and pulled out a sleeping bag. Danny looked a little
concerned; he didn’t want to sleep on the hard floor.
“Relax, I know what you are thinking. Here, help me pull the two mattresses down
on the floor please.” Tyler asked.
He put the mattresses side-by-side and laid the open sleeping bag on top of the
two mattresses. Red and green plaid now covered the mattresses and Tyler smiled
thinking how that should make Danny feel more at home. He then took his single
size comforter and laid it on top. It only covered a little more than half of
each mattress. Perfect he thought to himself. He flicked out the light but the
room was still well lit by the security lights outside the window.
“C’mon, let’s get into bed!” he told Danny
They snuggled up close to each other with their arms touching.
“Ty, this isn’t really working. I’m not completely covered and I’m kind of cold.
Could I have a little more of your blanket?” requested Danny.
“Roll onto your side Danny.” Tyler directed. Danny rolled over and Tyler
snuggled up behind him. “A little better now?”
“Yeah, much better… than I expected.” Danny said.
“Cool!” Tyler said.
Tyler brought his arm over the top of Danny’s body and gently placed his hand so
it barely touched his chest. Danny raised his arm over Tyler’s arm and wrapped
his fingers into Tyler’s fingers.
“Hey Danny?” asked Tyler.
“Yeah?” Danny replied.
“Do you own any plaid shirts?” Tyler inquired.
“Yeah. Lots of them! Why?” Danny asked with a puzzled look on his face.
“Oh nothing…” Tyler said smiling, and pulled Danny’s body tight against his.
