Chapter 19

When they had finished clearing the things from the meal away the three boys nervously followed Bradley's father, Colin, into the lounge knowing that they were going to have to face whatever he said. Colin moved over to his favourite chair and sat down in it while the three teens remained standing.

"Thank you for being honest. I know that was not easy. Do you think you're gay, or do you think this might just be an experimenting stage?" Colin asked again.

We'll also support you and your friends as much as we're able. All we ask is that you be careful. There are some people out there in the world who do not accept gay people and they can be very cruel in many different ways. Also any of you can come and ask us questions. If we can answer them we will. Callum, are you also gay?" Colin asked.

"Yes, I'm. Thank you for accepting us." Callum replied.

"There's nothing to thank us for. Bradley's made us so proud of him and we've trusted his choice in friends for a long time. We've also expected this for some time, and Angela and I have talked about it at length which is how I've been able to speak for both of us tonight. Although I must admit that we did think that it would be either you or Dominic that Bradley brought home to introduce to us as his boyfriend. You all are still very welcome to come into our home." Colin said.

"Thank you." Callum responded.

"There's one other thing." Colin began, "All of you boys are not of the legal age to consent to sex. However, we're not going to ask you to stop it as we know that will not happen. The two boys left the room in search of Angela. While they were out of the room Colin turned to Callum, "I meant what I said. We're happy to have you visit in our home and sleep over here from time to time. Having our suspicions confirmed will not change how we feel about you. When did your brother link up with Bradley? Or would you rather I ask them that?"

Leaving Colin with John and Rose, the three boys went to the kitchen in search of something to drink.

"I think that would be great. Let me get back and check with Angela and we'll ring you with some available dates. I do think we need to be able to support each other as well as our children." Colin said.

"That would be nice. I could do with some more female support here and I'm sure Angela probably feels the same." Rose said.

They grew quiet for a few moments which gave them the opportunity to hear a little of what the boys were saying in the kitchen.

"I'm glad our parents know about us. I don't like keeping secrets. When I heard you guys talking and I didn't know what to do but had to keep it to myself that was very hard. At least now we know we can talk about it with all of us." Alexander said.

"Yes it's nice. I don't think Dominic can talk to his parents the same as we can. Maybe that's why he struggles a bit more than us." Bradley said.

"Well that answers that question." Colin said.

"Yes it does." John agreed even though he already knew.

The parents talked for a little while longer and then Colin called Bradley saying that they had better be getting back home to his mother. A few minutes later they left and the four Ashbournes sat down together in the lounge. Alexander left them after a short time and went for his shower.
