TA was in a quandary; while he had been redirecting the energy from rapport between Phoenix, Alexis, and Don, there was the feeling of a secondary power system coming on line. This power source was coming from the subterranean section they had discovered through the ship's sensors. Without letting on to the three, he diverted back to his attention to this new phenomenon. As the last of the work was completed, he disengaged from the rapport and delved deeper into his ancient memories trying to find something that would explain what he was sensing… there it was, the Ancients had created these vaults and chambers before building the academy. It was the true Academy, with the knowledge from old Earth. The knowledge of the magic of Earth, which had long been forgotten. The power was growing and systems were turning on. Air was being circulated for the first time in over a millennium. A passageway was making itself known to TA. It could be accessed from the foundations, in the section where the Crypt was formed.

TA contacted Undawa; ‘Headmaster,’ he mind-spoke, ‘There is something you need to be aware of.’

Undawa replied, ‘What is it, TA?’

‘I have found my roots, the beginning of the Academy, and it is requesting your presence.’

‘How do I get there?’

‘Go to the foundations, the ones in the east wall of the Crypt; you will need to remove the marble slab that you placed there, and a passageway will open for you.’

Undawa, understanding the urgency of TA’s message, excused himself from the meeting and descended to the Crypt. He entered and went to the east wall. With a wave of his hand, he banished the marble. A glow started to appear on the foundation wall; it intensified, and suddenly an opening was visible. The stonework was of a much earlier design than the foundations. Light and fresh air were coming from the passageway, so, enveloping himself in a force field, he entered.

The passageway led him to a large chamber that resembled a shrine. On the north wall of the chamber was a statue of a woman. Beautifully carved, it was life size; the left hand was raised with fingers spread, and the right hand lowered with the index finger and the middle finger extended from a fist and pointed to the ground. The face and figure was stately in its expression and dress. There was a book on a reading pedestal in front of the statue that was lit by two massive mage lights placed on columns that were shoulder-height.

Undawa looked around the rest of the room and found that in the east wall was another passageway and at the south wall was a similar statue of a man. The male statute mimicked the female statue in every stance and they looked like they were twins.

Undawa went to the male statue and read silently from the book as he feared activating an incantation. He found that it was a prayer requesting benevolence of the god ‘RA’. He then went and silently read the book in front of the female statue and found again a prayer, but one of mercy to the goddess ‘ISIS’. Undawa mind-spoke to TA; ‘Any idea why there would be statues to ancient Earth gods, particularly, for ISIS and Osiris?’

TA responded, ‘No, but do not address them until we understand what is in the other chambers.

Undawa made his way to the east passageway and entered another chamber. This one was set up like a library, but filled with scrolls, not books or tomes. There were tables scattered throughout with one seat at each table. One of the tables held a scroll that had the edges held down by what looked like chess pieces. Small figurines of a king, queen, bishop, and tower. Undawa went closer to the scroll. It was written in an indecipherable language. ‘TA, would I be able to know what this scroll contains, if I were to drop into a rapport state?’

‘Likely, but it is not advisable at this time. There is something farther on that is requesting your attention.’

Again, Undawa went through a passageway in the east wall; this one, however, turned to the north. He entered a massive vaulted chamber. This had the look of a laboratory. Work tables were spread throughout with flasks, beakers and other paraphernalia spread over their surfaces. TA informed him that he must pass through this and the next room.

The next room was entered through the east wall by a serpentine passageway and resembled a throne room more than anything else. There were daises with flowing curtains and what appeared to be thrones and pillows on the floor. There were ten of these. Undawa entered a passageway that was situated through the north wall of this chamber, and which lead directly to another chamber.

This chamber was much smaller than the others and held machinery and what looked like computer storage vaults along the walls. In the centre of the chamber was an android with glowing yellow eyes. “Headmaster Undawa, I thank you for joining me. I am sure that you have many questions, which I will attempt to answer. However, before we begin, could you have the force field surrounding the vaults and above, removed?”

“TA, could you contact Magus Ronnenburg and request that the team remove the force field surrounding the property?”

“Thank you, Headmaster Undawa. The force field was interrupting our sensors and caused us to become activated.  We are what remain of the Ancients, the original colonizers of this planet from the planet Earth. We were set up as a centre for learning the ancient magic arts as they were passed to us from the Pharaohs, who were a race that arrived on Earth more than seven thousand years ago. I can tell that you did not activate Isis or Osiris, which is good, as they would not have taken kindly to an unattended introduction. There are eight more within this subterranean academy. Each must be activated by the correct type of person be it heterosexual or homosexual. Once woken by the correct style human, then their knowledge will be available to all. Isis requires a blond, heterosexual man in the prime of his sexual youth. Osiris requires a brunette, heterosexual female at the end of her child bearing years. Anubis and Bast require homosexual lovers of approximately twenty years of age. The list goes on. We are aware that all types required to activate the statues are available within your Academy. Once the ten are activated, they will head to the Teaching Room where you saw the thrones. Their pupils will sit on the cushions at their feet and gain the knowledge that each will impart. This is done through rapport within the group and is a long process. They will be with each of the gods for approximately three days. They will then need to eat and rest for three days before they go to the next god on their list. It is essential at this time, due to the elements that are soon going to come to war with humans, that this be done as soon as possible.”

Undawa was greatly surprised by this, but understood the vast knowledge that would be imparted to their cause. He quickly made a list of the necessary people to activate the various gods’ and goddess’ statues and requested that those people meet in the computer room of the underground structure.

It took about an hour for everyone needed to meet there. The android then choose the required person(s) and proceeded to each of the statues, where they were awoken in the manner prescribed. Soon, all ten were seated in the Teaching Room with the person(s) needed to awaken them. Undawa then called for Phoenix, Alexis, Don, Randy and Pete as well as one hundred others to come to the Teaching Room. Once they were surrounding their chosen god or goddess, bracelets appeared on their wrists. Undawa asked what this was for and the android instructed that they would sustain the individuals while they were in rapport for such a long time.

It took well over a month for all to be instructed, but once they were, the power at their grasp was unbelievable. All individuals then had a radiant aura about them, almost as if they, themselves, had become divine. Luckily part of the teaching process kept the individuals humble as they were well aware that they would and could be punished should they abuse their new-found powers.

The call to Fleet Headquarters went through, and arrangements were made for the Fleet to meet at Arcadia for the refit to the ships and the addition of trained mages to the crews.

Alexis was given permission, by his father, to join in the war. As Alexis had become a Magus, he was no longer in line to the throne of Orion. This was no surprise to Alexis and was the main reason he had come to the Academy in the first place. Alexis was not eager to be in line to the throne, as royal protocols would have ruled his life, instead of Alexis being able to do what he thought was best at the time. The King was happy for him, as he preferred what was best for his many children. There were already many sons in the House of Orion who could take up the throne when the time came. The King was also made aware of the updates available to his fleet if he chose. The King made the arrangements for his fleet to assemble with the Imperial Fleet for the updates and to add mages to his crews.

The first of the Fleet was to arrive in two days’ time; the majority would be there in four days; with the last to arrive in ten.

Adept Ajani was busy at the Hidden Academy, assisting with the graduation of all those who were eligible. Once the graduation was complete, he met with the graduates to explain the mated sets they required for the Fleet. There were many red-faced graduates in the group as it was explained that straight or gay, they needed to pair up. If there was not a suitable match for some, then there were many to choose from at the Academy. The graduates would also undergo the training from the underground Academy to bring their powers and knowledge to be on par with their peers.

Those who had not reached graduation level were informed that they would be staying on in the Hidden Academy until the graduates had left with the fleet. Then, all those left would be transported back to the Academy and take up their classes again. There may be new teachers, dependent upon which instructors decided to take advantage of the opportunities available to join the Fleet.

Magus Undawa was busy doing basically what Adept Ajani was doing, except that there was no requirement for graduation. Contact with the Fleet found that the majority of ships did not have a mage on board. They were quickly creating the space required for the four mages that would be joining them at Arcadia. TA sent the schematics to each of the ships to assist in the refurbishment that would take place while they were traveling to Arcadia.

The Calorian Sunrise was the first ship to arrive. It was a battleship that dwarfed Starlord’s Revenge by a factor of ten. The Calorian Sunrise could not make planet fall due to its size. A shuttlecraft was sent to pick up the four mages that would be joining the crew. The two men and two women arrived on board and were shown to their respective quarters, then shown to the forward room that was set up for their reconnaissance. The Magi retired to one of the quarters and after informing the captain that they would start the update to the armour and shields, commenced to join into rapport and call for TA’s assistance. As the couples engaged in sex and their powers grew, TA started siphoning the power and augmenting the armour-plating of the battleship.

TA then took over and changed the armour-plating to the new configuration and augmented the shields. The Calorian Sunrise suddenly shone like a new star in the night sky of Arcadia. As expected, the sirens went off in the Engineering section and from the console on the bridge. Commodore General Harquarts requested that the sirens be turned off and the systems updated to the new hull plating and shielding. The engineering staff was totally amazed at what had been done to the armour-plating and could not make heads or tails of the shielding. Harquarts contacted Captain Bryce Anderson about the changes and was reassured that all was in order; he now had a ship that was virtually indestructible.

And so it went, ship after ship arrived and mages assigned. The reconfigurations were accomplished, sometimes with the assistance of Undawa’s team or the Defensive Team. When the ships arrived from the King of Orion, they were asked if they wanted a magi team onboard. The answer was a resounding “Yes” from all captains. When all was said and done, the only remaining graduates who had not been assigned to a ship were Randy and Pete. This was fine with them as they wished to stay with the Academy and assist Undawa in training the remaining students. This entire exercise took more than a month as the magi from the Hidden Academy were trained by the gods below the Academy.

The Academy played host to all the senior officers from all the ships to formulate a plan of action to retake control of the Empire. Empire Defense HQ and Sigmus IV HQ had been made secure. The next objective was the capital planet of Caspiscan and the Imperial city of Quanco.   After this was accomplished; the plan was to go system by system, outward from the capital, to ensure the infiltration by the Qujann and Juanquit were eradicated. A minimum of six ships and twenty-four magi would go to each system. This would be time consuming, but the magi would be able to end the impersonations by the enemies. It was also determined that there would be no communication between ships except through the magi rapport method. They could not risk the enemy being made aware of their plans.

Caspiscan and the capital Quanco were only four days away from Arcadia. All ships would arrive at the same time. Once the enemies were detected and destroyed, it was found that the Royal Family was missing a number of members. Emperor Samal the III and Empress Claudia were accounted for as well as the youngest children, but the Crown Prince and The Spare were missing and assumed dead. Many of the highest ranking officers were also found to be missing. Once the Emperor made the Memorial arrangements, he got busy making field promotions, left, right and center. He also put out a call to all individuals who had an interest in magic or showed aptitude, to come to the capital to be tested and sent to Arcadia to join the depleted Academy.

Harquarts was made Supreme Commander of the Imperial Forces; Commander Ashton from Sigmus IV was made Admiral of the Fleet. Bryce was not overlooked and was placed in charge of Sectors I and II, which included the capital as well as Arcadia. The sector by sector sweep began immediately. With the number of ships available they were able to take the first ten sectors within a week. Surprisingly, some of the sectors showed no sign of the enemies, though they had vast resources and staging areas. Bryce was able to determine that the sectors they really needed to work on were the ones directly enroute to either the Qujann home world or the Juanquit home world. This did not end the sector by sector sweep, but did give the crews needed breaks in the fighting.

As each sector was secured, Samal made a plea to the inhabitants for the sake of the Academy. Undawa was shocked at the number of first year students who were suddenly appearing on the doorstep. It got to the point where students had to share quarters, which had never happened before in the history of the Academy. Class sizes were not enlarged, but the Academy had to go with a split schedule. Half the students started at 06:00 and went to 14:00; the rest went from 14:00 to 22:00. Even the Dining Hall had to split meal times. Undawa took charge of the morning students and Ajani took charge of the evening students. The instructors had to work both, but received considerable increments in pay. Undawa and Ajani made an appeal to Samal, not to recruit any more students until they were able to expand the Academy and recruit qualified instructors, which would actually be the next graduating class.

It was determined that the only ones to visit the gods below would be the instructors and the graduating students. The remaining students would be given one month’s vacation from classes.
