Chapter 54
We left the guys in the hospital where
Shaun was in a badly depressed state after his boy friend Donny was killed in
the coach accident as Wayne, Donny and Shaun were heading to the brothers'
hometown where their mother was gravely ill. Brian had been informed of the
accident and he left the Wanderer moored in Sydney while he raced to Albury to
be with the lads. He found Shaun a mental wreck and Wayne was still by his side,
Brian talked to the doctor who recommended grief counselling for both lads.
Brian sat with the lads holding Shaun's hand with his other arm round Wayne's
shoulder, Wayne rested his head on his lover's shoulder, just feeling the touch
and warmth of Brian's body giving him comfort in this black time. Brian's mind
conjured pictures of the three lads naked and enjoying the sunshine as Wanderer
cruiser up the East coast of Australia, their teen sexiness gradually wore him
down until he eventually let down his guard and fell head over heels for Wayne.
His wife Val was in Western Australia looking after he aged mother and father
after her mother took ill, he was in a quandary how he was going to break the
news that he still loved her but had fallen in love with Wayne.
Shaun suddenly startled him from his reverie by sobbing loudly; Brian opened his
eyes to see his son shaking with the force of his body wracking sobs. Shaun's
sun tanned cheeks glistened as the light reflected from the wet tear seeping
from his closed eyes, his long curved lashes wet with the salty tears. Brian
moved, disturbing Wayne, bending close to his distraught son brushed the hair
from his damp forehead and kissed him gently reassuring the boy, "Its ok Shaun,
let it out its ok to cry son. Wayne and I are here with you."
Shaun cried heavily resting his sweaty brow against his fathers, and wrapping
his arms around Brian's neck, "Daddy I miss Donny, I'll never see him again or
make love with him. My life is over I just want to die and be with him."
Brian was horrified to hear such words from his young son he sat frozen holding
Shaun as he sobbed and shuddered in his arms, Wayne hugged Brian against his own
fit muscular body giving his older lover his support even though he too was
shattered and grieving for his little brother. The tableau remained immobile
locked together in a touching embrace, Shaun tired and exhausted slowly relaxed
and went limp as he finally dropped off to sleep, the doctor had prescribed a
sleeping pill which a nurse administered before leaving them all together.
Brian laid Shaun on the bed and made him comfortable, kissed him goodnight and
asked Wayne if he would like a coffee they got up and left the ward to find a
beverage dispenser finding one in the patients' lounge where they sat together
on a lounge sipping the barely drinkable coffee. Brian asked Wayne what his next
move was going to be, was he going on home to be with his mother, was Donny's
body to be transported home to be buried in the local cemetery? Wayne was still
in shock and confused, he wasn't certain what to do so Brian spoke softly as he
rested his hand on Wayne's thigh, "If needed Wayne I'll foot the bill for
Donny's funeral and I'll organise a taxi to take you home as well."
Wayne raised his head and looked into Brian's eyes and Brian saw the pain and
misery locked inside his sweet young lover, he desperately wanted to help him as
well as Shaun because he loved both lads deeply. He lifted a hand to caress
Wayne's smooth cheek as he bent across to press his warm lips to Wayne's, the
lad sat inert as Brian kissed him then suddenly he jerked and threw his arms
around Brian's neck and he wailed loudly, "Aaaw Brian, my sweet little brother
is gone I'm going to miss him so much."
Both men broke down and cried together, clutching onto one another like limpets
as they released the pain and misery bottled up inside them. A nurse walking
past heard the sobbing and paused at the door but decided the guys were better
off left alone to cry it out without outside interference. Some time passed,
their undrunk coffee cold on the table the two lovers still hugged heads close
together on each others' shoulders, they slowly calmed and relaxed as their sobs
ceased.
Shaun was responding well to the grief counsellor his periods of deep melancholy
became further apart and he slept less where he had slept hours at a time day or
night only surfacing now and then to pick at his food. Brian was pleased to see
his son slowly coming back to normal, Wayne had to leave them and head home to
be with his ill mother. Bryan kept up a brave cheerful front for Shaun even
though he was torn to pieces inside by Wayne's departure, he just didn't know if
Wayne would return to him.
He arranged with the local funeral director to prepare Donny's body for the
journey to his hometown, he stood there weeping heavily as the lifeless boy's
body was loaded into the closed van and driven away to the mortuary. Brian
returned to Shaun and sat beside his bed, Shaun looked at his father noticing
the red eyes and said, "Dad you've been crying what has happened."
Brian was worried about telling Shaun the reason but the boy looked at him and
put his hand on his father's shoulder and whispered, "You have been arranging
Donny's funeral haven't you?"
Brian nodded a tear slid down his cheek as Shaun leaned across and hugged his
dad round the neck and kissed him on the cheek, he cried with Brian as they sat
there together. Brian cleared his throat and asked Shaun if he was up to driving
to Echuca for Donny's funeral, Shaun nodded sobbing softly. Brian told Shaun he
had to check with the doctor first but all going well they would leave the next
day. Brain kissed Shaun and left the room to locate the doctor, he walked to the
nurse's station and asked to see the medico. The nurse told him he was at his
meal break but she'd let him know Brian wanted to chat with him as the doctor
returned.
Back in Sydney, Alex and Nick were enjoying each other's company while also
keeping an eye on the Wanderer while Brian was away, a few days after Brian's
departure Nick walked past Wanderer and noticed the main hatch was slightly
ajar; he hurried on to where Nick was waiting for him on his yacht the 007, Nick
was a James Bond fan. Alex called to Nick who appeared from below smiling
broadly at the sound and sight of his young friend. Alex told him of what he'd
seen so Nick grabbed a stainless steel winch handle and they set off back down
the dock to where Wanderer was moored.
They approached quietly and slipped aboard the ketch, bare feet silent on her
teak deck and approached the hatch. Nick whispered to Alex, "You slide open the
hatch and I'll be ready for any trouble that might occur."
Alex nodded and reached for the hatch gripping it firmly looking at Nick, who
nodded hefting the heavy handle in his grasp, the hatch banged back on the stops
and light flooded the cabin catching the intruder by surprise. Both Alex and
Nick stood glaring into the cabin where the figure of the trespasser stood rock
still looking petrified up at them. The intruder was a young lad in his teens,
poorly dressed in very tatty worn and grubby clothes, his uncut dirty blond hair
messy on his head, blue eyes wide with fright looked up at them.
Nick glared at the lad and barked, "Who are you and what are you doing on the
Wanderer?"
The youth shaking with fright looked guiltily up at them, his cute lips working
but no sound came forth, Alex said, "Its ok mate, just relax we aren't going to
hurt you, we want you to explain what your doing on this yacht."
The lad bent his head guiltily and said softly, "I was looking for some money
for food and a place to sleep. I didn't mean to be caught but I'm desperately
hungry after sleeping rough for the last couple of weeks."
Nick's stance softened at the lad's words he could see the boy was not a
hardened criminal and by the look of him he wasn't a drug addict just a lad who
was down on his luck and alone trying to fend for himself. Alex could see the
lad was very handsome under the grime and scruffy clothes he looked at Nick and
said, "Maybe we can take him aboard the 007 and let him have a shower then we
can give him a feed?"
Nick nodded and said, "Come on up lad we'll take you to my yacht where you can
clean up and have a meal while we discuss what the next move is going to be."
The youth climbed up on deck and they closed the hatch unable to lock it due to
the broken padlock, Alex asked the lad, "How did you break open the lock?"
The boy replied, "I used an old screwdriver I picked up from near the Yacht Club
building, I left it in the cabin."
They stepped off Wanderer and made their way along the dock to where 007 lay,
Nick gestured the lad to go aboard and he and Alex watched the tight well worn
tattered jeans which covered the slim legs but nice round arse as he stretched
to step onto the sleek sloop. Alex grinned at Nick whose eyes were locked on the
enchanting sight, they followed the lad on and took him below decks where Nick
showed him the tiny shower cubicle and explained how to turn on the shower. He
asked the lad, "What's your name young fella, how old are you and where do you
come from?"
The lad looked at him and replied, "My name is Mark Woodridge, I'm 16 nearly 17
and I come from Brisbane."
Alex began preparing food while Mark undressed shyly in front of them, both Nick
and Alex felt that inevitable tingling in their loins as the slender defined
body came into view, Mark was a totally mint babe with a superb body albeit very
thin due to his lack of food over a long period. Mark stepped into the shower
closing the folding milk glass door behind him shutting off the delicious view,
Nick whistled softly and said, "Wow Alex what a little honey he is."
Alex grinned and nodded, "Yeah he is something else isn't he? I wonder if he
plays, I have a feeling he does and maybe that's why he's on the streets maybe
trouble at home, what do you think?"
Nick nodded as he watched Alex preparing the meal he replied; "I think maybe
you're right, we will find out more about him when he is relaxed and eating with
us."
They heard the shower stop and Nick went to the shower opened the door and
passed Mark a clean towel to dry himself, the lad appeared shortly after towel
around his slim waist to cover himself, Mark's torso was pale almost translucent
in contrast to his brown face and arms but showed some nasty fading bruises and
Nick wolf whistled then said, "Wow Mark what a difference a shower makes you
look like a new man."
Mark's tanned face darkened as he blushed charmingly, Alex grinned and added,
"He's so right Mark you really scrub up well mate."
The meal ready Alex dished up and the three guys sat eating around the table
chatting about this and that putting Mark at ease before they discussed more
important things. They learnt of his miserable life since hitting the streets
how he had to delve into rubbish bins for food when his begging failed to earn
enough to buy anything. Nick asked about the bruises visible and Mark began to
cry as he told them, "I had been begging all day in Sydney in Central Station
and I'd scored a few dollars when two toughs came up dragged me into the toilets
and pounded me taking my money, they then pulled down my jeans and raped me then
left me lying on the grotty floor bleeding from both my damaged nose and arse."
Nick and Alex were horrified to hear how this sweet young guy had been abused
and Nick sitting next to him put an arm about his shaking shoulders as Mark
broke down crying. He hugged the sobbing lad whispering, "There, there Mark your
safe now buddy, did you go to the police about what happened?"
Mark looked scared, "Shit no I couldn't go to the coppers they would have locked
me up for begging and being homeless."
Alex looking sadly at Mark from across the small table asked, "Mark you can
answer me or not but can you tell us why you are homeless mate?"
Mark shook his head sobbing, Alex looked at him and said softly, "Is it because
you are gay you are out on the streets, did your parents kick you out?"
To be continued.
