Jody Loew trudged wearily up the stairs to a furnished efficiency apartment.  He hated what he was about to do, but it was part of his job as the super and manager of a high rise building.  It was located in Wilton Manors, a very gay section of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.  He held in his hand a three day eviction notice, which he would be forced to present to Frank Harvey, who was three months delinquent in his rent, even after applying his security deposit.

Frank moved into the building seven months ago, and Jody had major hots for the handsome young man since he first showed him the apartment.  In all that time, Jody didn’t make a move on Frank.  He knew that he wouldn’t stand a chance with the young twenty-two year old man.  Frank was a hunk and he knew it.  He had become very vain. As an aspiring actor, he relied on his good looks to open doors, but he displayed very little talent.

On the other hand, Jody, who was only thirty-three, looked like fifty-three.  When he was in his twenties, he was even more handsome than Frank and twice as hunky.  Unfortunately, a drinking problem caused disappointments in his career, and he let himself go to pot.  He developed a very substantial beer belly, hardly ever shaved or showered, never trimmed his beard, rarely had a haircut, and in short, he looked like a boozing, overweight, derelict.  In the end, the only job he could get was as a janitor (with the fancy title of superintendent).

Jody knocked softly on Frank’s door.  There was no answer.  He was really glad that the young man wasn’t home.  He had come prepared for that probability, and he scotch-taped the notice on the door.

Frank grew up in a tiny town in rural Georgia.  It was nearly a two hour drive to Savannah.  He identified himself as being gay in his early teen-age years.  Once he established his sexual orientation, he planned on getting out of Baptist country as soon as possible.  The day he graduated high school, he packed two suitcases and left his comfortable home.  His parents and two younger brothers were left speechless, and he offered them no explanation.

He chose to go to Florida rather than New York because it was closer to home.  Of more importance, he believed he would have less competition getting acting gigs in Florida than in New York.  He did some homework, and discovered that Ft. Lauderdale was loaded with many regional theaters, a good many of which, were gay oriented.

He had saved enough money from summer jobs to be able to afford one month’s rent and a security deposit.  After consulting the local newspaper and Craig’s list, he zeroed in on a furnished efficiency apartment in Wilton Manors.  The only reason it was furnished was that the former tenant disappeared one day, and he left all the furnishings and all his personal belongings in the apartment.  The owner of the building removed the personal items and left the furniture.  It was cheaper than moving it out, and would be an extra appeal to a lot of young men seeking to rent their very first apartment.

Frank called the number in the ad and made an appointment to see the apartment.  The minute Jody looked at the handsome young man he began to get an erection.  He couldn’t resist.  He told Frank how cute he was and slyly hinted at some sort of liaison.  Frank looked at the slovenly “old” man, and laughed.

“You’d have to lose thirty or forty pounds and clean up your act before I’d even consider it.  I probably would say no even then.  I’m renting an apartment,” he added, “not a whore house.  Please don’t bother me again.”

Jody’s feelings were deeply hurt.

Wisely, Frank did not expect instant success in landing an acting role, but he was able to get a job as a server in a gay bar.  Needless to say, the hunky, handsome, man brought home a trick three or four times a week.  Jody was spying on Frank, and when he saw what was happening he grew more than a little jealous.

For the first two months, Frank met his obligations, but then he actually landed a role in a gay themed play.  His oversized cock got him the job, not his acting ability.  The play had one nude scene after another.  He quit his job, believing himself to be a working actor.  The play was so bad that rehearsals were stopped even before it opened.  Frank wasn’t so successful getting a job this time, and he was unable to pay his rent.

After receiving the eviction notice, Frank was desperate.  His first option was to go back to Georgia, but the thought of it turned his stomach. Another option that came to mind was to seduce Jody and offer him sex for rent, but that was a foolish option also.  First of all, Jody was not the landlord.  He could only do what the landlord told him to do.  Second of all, Jody’s appearance revolted Frank.  In spite of all those seemingly impossible solutions, Frank knocked on Jody’s door, intending to beg for more time.

Of course, Jody invited him in.  He carefully explained to Frank that he couldn’t help him for any reason.  His boss, the landlord, had to make that decision.  Then in disgust, Jody said, “I don’t see you looking for a job.  You’re holed up in your apartment playing video games or having sex all day.”

This was true, but Frank wondered how Jody knew.  He had no idea that Jody constantly spied on him with lustful desires.

“I swear,” Frank said, “in the last two days, I’ve interviewed for jobs at three different gay bars, and I auditioned for a part in a play.  I know I’ll get a job soon.”

“I told you, Frank, it’s not my decision.”

“Isn’t there anything you can do to help me?”  Frank was crying and pleading now.

Jody’s heart was breaking at the helplessness in Frank’s voice.  Finally, he said something he never thought he’d say.  “If you really think that you’ll have a job soon, you can shack up with me until you get on your feet.  You can use the couch.  Better still, you can sleep in my bed with me.”

The thought of that alternative revolted Frank.  He was about to say that he’d take the couch, but he stopped himself.  He hadn’t really ever taken a good look at Jody since their initial meeting.  Now he did.  He stared at him, and he was amazed.

When they first met, Frank’s acerbic rejection of Jody’s deteriorating body, hurt the older man badly, but it also became a wakeup call.  Jody knew that he had to get hold of himself, change his life style, and try to become his old self.  If not, he was headed for a very short life, and a loveless one at that.

He went to his apartment and disposed of all the beer and booze he had, paying scant attention to how much all that had cost him.  Then he dumped all the junk food he could find lying around.  That done, he headed for a supermarket with intentions of buying healthy food.  On the way, he passed a local gym, and signed up for a membership.  He felt fitter and healthier already.

Early the next morning, he had a protein bar for breakfast, and then headed to the gym.  He worked out for about twenty minutes, and he was all out of breath.  He was not discouraged.  He knew he would improve.  He returned to the building in plenty of time to begin his day’s work.

Slowly he began to lose his beer belly, and the extra pounds began to melt off.  He began to shower daily.  He decided to spring for a hair stylist and had his hair cut and his beard trimmed.  When the stylist showed him the results of his labor in a mirror, Jody began to see a semblance of his old self.  In fact, he started to cry.  The stylist wanted to ask him what was wrong, but in the end, he held his tongue.  After that, Jody kept his beard neatly trimmed.

His transition was very slow.  It occurred over the months since Frank first occupied his apartment.  Frank didn’t even notice the phenomenal change in Jody.  The two men never really interacted.  Jody knew the miracle of his metamorphosis, and he vowed to seduce Frank and then reject him.  He had every intention of shaming Frank.

While Frank was debating the bed or the couch, he finally looked at Jody, and he wondered if he was seeing things.  True, the remnants of a beer belly remained, and Jody was still pleasingly plump, very much so, but he was damned attractive.  Frank also marveled at his developing hard muscles.  He was suddenly more than attracted to his super.  He actually started to erect.

Frank was still not ready to commit to anything, so he said, “Help me move my stuff into your place.  It’s just my personal stuff, and I have very little.”

“And then?” Jody asked.

“We’ll see,” Frank answered.

Jody made room for Frank’s meager belongings in his apartment.  His personal stuff was just as meager as Frank’s.

As soon as they were settled, Jody said, “I didn’t expect to have company.  The only food I have in the house are protein bars, and granola cereal.”

“That’s okay,” Frank said.  “I’ll settle for a beer.”

“Sorry!  No alcoholic beverages either.  Let me take you out for a bite to eat.  I know a restaurant that serves only healthy food and beverages.”

“I don’t have any money,” Frank lamented.

“Don’t worry.  It’s my treat,” Jody said, and he smiled broadly at Frank.

“Why are you being so nice to me?” Frank asked.  “I haven’t been very nice to you.”

“Because I love you, dufus.  I’ve loved you since I first laid eyes on you.”

Frank’s jaw dropped open.  Before he could utter a word, his phone rang.  “I gotta take this,” he apologized.  “It’s one of the gay bars I interviewed with.”

After a short conversation and lots of smiles, Frank announced that he got a job.  “See, I told you,” he smirked.

“That’s all well and good, but I have to continue with your eviction unless you pay your back rent.”

“I won’t be able to do that for at least two or three months,” Frank lamented.  “Is your offer still on the table?”

“Not only on my table, but on my bed as well,” Jody said.

“Sure, why not?  I’m all for it,” Frank said, flashing a seductive smile at Jody.

Jody was delighted, but he decided to take the revenge he sought and to reject Frank.  “Sorry,” he said, “but there will be no sex until I reach my weight goal.  I have ten more pounds to go.  There is one other condition.”

“What is it?” the disappointed young man asked.

“No sex until you are financially stable enough to contribute to your household expenses.”

“That could take weeks,” Frank whined.  “But you say you love me, and I can sleep in your bed.  I suppose I should be grateful, and stop complaining.”

The two men smiled at each other, and Frank approached Jody.  “You can’t stop me from doing this,” he said.  He wrapped his arms around Jody and planted one slobbery kiss on his cheek.

“You’re making it hard down there, and harder still to stick to our pact,” Jody said.

“What did you do before you took this job?” Frank asked.

“I was a lawyer, but I fucked up my career by drinking heavily.”

“Are you still a member of the bar?”

“I think so.  I paid my dues.”

“Then while we’re waiting for love, I am going to insist there will be no sex until you get a job in a law firm, even if it’s only as a paralegal.”

“You’re making our pact harder and harder, but suddenly I see a bright future for both of us.  Now let’s go get that dinner I promised you.”

That night they both went to bed naked, as was there habit.  Suddenly all their resolve was gone and they were kissing passionately, and fondling each other’s cocks.  Jody was way more love starved than Frank, so when Frank went down on him, he came after just a few strokes.  They only satisfied themselves orally that first night, but in the nights to come they participated in a full love life together.

Out of the bedroom, they encouraged themselves to remain steadfast in pursuing their careers.  Five years later, Jody was a vital link in a prestigious law firm, and Frank was a lead actor in a repertory theater company.  The company presented main stream plays, and gay themed ones also, but no porn.

They were doing just fine and they lived together in a luxury condo on the ocean.  The only thing they had to worry about was a hurricane.

It might be said that there meeting was fate.  Besides falling in love, they encouraged each other to be the best that they could be.  Being in love is great, but being in love and sharing success with a partner is pure joy.
