Chapter 36

Georgia Tech Forever

I was late getting home, so we were finishing dinner when the doorbell rang.  Cole went to answer.

He came back and announced, “The people from Atlanta are arriving.  We need to go to the trailer.  I’ll take care of the dishes after the visitors leave.”

I expected the signing to be over in a few minutes, but it took a little over an hour.  About half way through the discussion with the media, I realized that the same reporter who had done the story on the tornadoes and the day that Benji was found was present.

I was apprehensive that he was going to say something in front of Benji, but he avoided the issue.  One reporter was talking to Mrs. Weaver, “Ma’am, you must be proud of your grandson now that he has a scholarship to play football.”

“Sir, I am proud of what Cole has accomplished.  I’m most proud of the fact that he will be graduating from high school with honors.   Three years ago, I would have told you that he probably wouldn’t ever be graduating.”

The reporter asked, “What happened to make things change?”

Cole spoke up, “Mr. and Mrs. Christiansen happened, and they set me straight.  They trusted and believed in me and worked my backside off.  I also have three very good friends who didn’t give up on me.”

A female reporter asked, “Cole, was Georgia Tech the only school that offered you a scholarship?”

Mrs. Weaver started to laugh, “Honey, our phone has been so busy that it gets almost too warm to the touch.”

Cole shook his head no, “Ma’am, I’ve had offers from more than thirty major universities and I don’t know how many other universities have called and I informed them that I was not interested.  My goal was to stay near home.  It finally came down to a choice between Georgia Tech and the University of Georgia.”

The reporter from the tornado and the Benji finding stories asked, “Cole, what was the factor that prompted you to choose Georgia Tech?”

Cole nodded, “The decision became a no-brainer when I also received a Presidential scholarship from Georgia Tech.  If something should happen and I were to not be able to play football, then I would have something to fall back on.”

The female reporter kept pushing, “Why is that young boy here?”

I could tell that Cole was getting fed up with the questions.  “Ma’am, Benji is my special buddy.  He keeps me going.  We need to get him to bed.”

The coach stood, “Cole, now that you have signed, I think we will have a great recruiting class.  There are a number of other four and five star prospects who are straddling the fence. I think that once the story of your signing hits the wires, we’ll have some additional commitments.  Thank you.”

When we got back to the big house, the dishes were done, and Cole went to get Benji ready for bed.

Life was going smoothly until the Ides of March or March 15th when Mikey was born on the way the hospital.  Both Autumn and Michael were fine, but now we had four young boys under the age of two.  So Autumn, Nana Weaver and Colleen were all busy, as was I when I was at home.

Cole graduated from high school in the top five percent of his class.  Because he was President of the Graduating Class, he gave a very inspirational talk at the ceremony that had his Grandmother crying.

We had taken Benji with us  and he was sitting on my lap.  He looked up at me, “Daddy, why Nana Weaver crying?”

“Benji, Nano Weaver is very proud of Uncle Cole.”

Benji smiled, “Me proud, too.”

It was a sad day around Summerhill when Cole left for Georgia Tech for the beginning of football practice.  Benji kept asking, “Where Uncle Cole.”

Fast synopsis of Cole’s football career.  Nana Weaver and I went to the first game of the season in Atlanta.  Cole had warned us that he probably wouldn’t be playing.  Boy was he wrong.  The first string quarterback for Georgia Tech suffered a broken leg on the first series of downs.  The second string quarterback was sent in and the offense couldn’t do anything.

Cole started the second quarter and the team won going away.  He would never relinquish the starting quarterback position from then on.  In his freshman year, he was voted as the newcomer of the year in the ACC and Georgia Tech went to a decent bowl game.

In his sophomore year he led the team to the ACC championship game which they lost by one point.  Cole was announced as the Player of the Game.  He made the Dean’s list for the fourth time.

In his junior year, Georgia Tech went undefeated but because of the strength of their schedule, they were not in the running for the BCS championship.  They creamed their opponents in the Orange Bowl and wound up ranked number 2 in the final season polls.

I need to backtrack. In the middle of December, Cole was invited to attend the Heisman Trophy awards ceremony.  Nana Weaver and I accompanied him to New York.  When Cole was announced as the winner, his Grandmother was so proud.  I don’t think anyone was more surprised than Cole.

Cole was also announced as the first team quarterback of the All America Team.  He was also selected to the first team Academic All American Team as well.

We had only been back at Summerhill after the Heisman awards ceremony for three days when Nana Weaver had a massive heart attack and died.

Cole was devastated, but as soon as the funeral was over, he went back to get ready for the aforementioned Orange Bowl.  When he was leaving, he told me, “I need to win this one for my grandparents.”

It was right after the Orange Bowl that tragedy struck again.  Autumn and I were sitting on the sofa after we had put the four boys to bed.  “Doug, I think I’m pregnant, again.”

“Autumn, how can that be?  You’re on the pill and I’ve been wearing condoms.”

“Doug, your spermatozoa must be more powerful than we thought.  I have a doctor’s appointment tomorrow at one o’clock to find out for sure.”

I was sitting at my desk at the college the next day when the dreadful call came, “Mr. Christiansen, your wife was killed in a hit and run accident.”

I was shattered.  I told President Harder what was happening and left to start taking care of whatever I needed to do.

The next week was a nightmare that I hope I never have to live through again.  The funeral service went well and I think if it hadn’t been for Cole, I could not have held it together.

The next blow came when Denny and Colleen came to me one night after I arrived home.  Denny started, “Mr. Doug, Colleen is pregnant.  She needs to take it easy.  She can’t be lifting the boys.”

I looked at the couple, “Are you telling me that you’re going to be leaving?”

Denny sighed, “No, Mr. Doug; we really would like to stay here and work for you.  It's just that Colleen can’t do everything that she has been doing.  I have a suggestion though; my oldest sister is nineteen and really needs to get away from home.  She tried to go to your college, but has decided that’s not for her.”

“So are you saying that your sister is trying to find a husband?”

Denny sighed, “That’s one thing she isn’t trying to do.  Besides if she were to make a move on you, Cole would have her put in jail.”

“Denny, you’re not making any sense.”

Denny was persistent, “Look Mr. Doug, my sister, Patty, has had a few forays into sex with men, and she has decided that is not her cup of tea.  She has found someone she has identified with, and she is not a man.  In fact you know the person rather well.  Besides Colleen and I think that Cole would probably shoot anyone who tried to put their claws into you.”

I was totally dumbfounded by this conversation, “Okay you two, I think you need to explain what you think should happen.”

Colleen started, “First, we should probably move into the trailer so that I can help in the kitchen until such time as I am unable to continue.   Patty and Karen can move into the apartment where we live.  Cole could move into the main house with you and the boys.  He treats them as if they were his sons, so that shouldn‘t be a problem.”

I called Cole and he agreed that we should do as Denny and Colleen had suggested.  Oh, by the way Karen turned out to be one of my secretaries at the college.

Cole moved into one of the extra bedrooms, so it was as if the boys had an extra daddy when he was home.

During Cole’s senior year, I took Benji to all of the home football games with me.  The team went undefeated and was ranked number two in the final BCS standing so they were going to be playing in the Orange Bowl against number one ranked Southern Cal for the national title.

It was when I accompanied Cole to The Heisman Awards ceremony for the second time, that things started to happen.  We had checked into our suite and Cole suggested, “Doug, why don’t you take you shower first before we go to the awards’ banquet.  I don’t know why I’m here because they aren’t going to award it to the same person twice.”

I was in the shower lathering my body when the shower door opened and a naked Cole stepped in, “I’ve come to collect my consolation prize.”

He pushed me against the wall and forced his tongue into my mouth.  He was like a madman out of control.  He fell to his knees and took my rapidly growing penis in his mouth and the suction was too much for me because it didn’t take very long before I could feel the start of an eruption.  I tried to push Cole away, but he forced me even deeper into his mouth and wouldn’t let me go until my penis had released it’s load and I started to wilt.”

He looked up at me, “Thank you Doug, I’ve been dreaming of doing that for six years.”

I asked a dumb question, “Where did you learn to do that?  It was as if you knew what you were doing.”

Cole giggled, “I’ve watched a lot of porn movies and practiced on a lot of bananas and a dildo.”

“Cole, I don’t know if I can reciprocate.”

“That’s okay, because my load has already gone down the drain.  The thought of me finally enjoying your body was too much for me, and I lost it.”

When we went to the presentations, I was a couple of pounds lighter.

After the introduction of the players who were present at the banquet and the other formalities, the chairman announced, “This years’ winner of the Heisman Award, by a unanimous vote, is Mr. Cole Weaver from Georgia Tech University.”

Cole was very calm as he stood to accept the award.  I was pleased at how poised he was, during his acceptance speech, “Members of the Downtown Athletic Club, I thank you for this honor.  I would like to dedicate the award to my deceased grandparents and to very special lady, who is also deceased, Mrs. Autumn Christiansen.  To my team members at Georgia Tech, I say a special thank you, because it was you who made it possible for me to win this award.  Again thank you.”

That night when we were ready for bed.  I crawled into the one of the queen sized beds thinking Cole would get in the other.  Was I wrong.  He not only crawled in next to me, but he was naked.  He started to remove the briefs I was wearing, so I decided to assist him.  When I was naked,  he put his arms around me and kissed me gently, “Doug, you have no idea how much I’ve wanted to do this.  Doug, I love you and I don’t mean like a father or a brother.”

I sat up on one elbow and started to play with his nipples, “Cole, this is scary.  We have to remember that I do have four sons who need to be a paramount consideration, if anything should happen between us.”

“Doug, why can’t they be our sons?  They may not look like me, but they don’t see color.  I already love them, and they already consider me to be part of the family.”

I leaned down and kissed him again, “I’ll say this for you, Cole.  You are persistent.  Cole, you are an extremely handsome young man.  You could have any person you wanted.”

“Doug, why can’t you understand?  I only want you.  That’s final and it’s not going to change.”

I did something that I never thought I would be doing.  I leaned down and started to kiss his penis which began responding big time.

When it was standing at attention, I tried to do what he had done to me in the shower and started to gag.

Cole stopped me from trying to take too much, “Doug, you don’t have to do that if you don’t want to.”

I mumbled because my mouth was so full, “But, I want to do it.”

He tried to push me away but I wasn’t moving and a warm liquid started to fill my mouth in spurts that kept coming.  My mouth was so full that I could feel the dribbles escaping from my mouth and running down my chin.  When Cole’s penis was finally in a relaxed state, I pulled away and looked up at Cole, “So how would you rate my first try at doing this?”

He pulled me up and hugged me, “I’ll give you and eleven even though the scale doesn’t go that high.”

It felt so right to have Cole snuggling next to me.  I was awakened in the morning with a very aroused Cole rubbing up and down my backside.  I turned to him, “Cole, I don’t think I’m ready to go there yet.”

Cole nodded, “Nor am I.  I was letting our sexual equipment get familiar with each other.”

We caught our flight back to Atlanta and as we went to the baggage claim area, we were greeted by a large group of people who cheered when Cole appeared.  He was busy responding to the media and I waved to let him know that I was leaving since I still had to drive to Summerhill.

We didn’t get to see each other again until the night of the 23rd.  The coach kept them practicing and gave the 24th thru the 26th off so we had three glorious nights together.  Yes, we spent them in my bedroom, even though my parents and Autumn’s parents were there.  We had a wonderful time playing Santa on Christmas Eve and were sitting basking in the glow of the Christmas tree when we finished.  Cole looked at me, “Doug, I wish it could always be like this.”

On Christmas morning, Cole was giving me a special Christmas present when the door opened and Benji was standing there.  “Daddy, why is Uncle Cole licking your penis?  Did you hurt it?”

Cole pulled away, “Yep, he hurt it and I was trying to make it feel better like we do when you have an ouey.”

That was good enough for Benji, “Oh, okay.  Daddy, the boys want to know if it’s okay if we go see if Santa brought us anything?”

“You may certainly go downstairs and check, but you can’t open anything until all the adults are up.”

Benji took off and we heard four young boys running down the steps.  When Cole and I arrived, the four boys were lying on the floor propped up on their elbows looking at the presents that almost smothered the tree.  We were soon joined by both sets of parents.

It took Benji forever to pass out the gifts.  While the boys were playing with their gifts, the two Grandmas went to fix breakfast.  Cole and I went to take care of the stable, since I had given Denny and Colleen three days off just as I had done for Patty and Karen. We left the two Granddads to take care of the boys, much to their delight

The house seemed deserted after everyone had departed on the 26th.  I suddenly realized how much I had grown to love Cole.

Benji came to me, “Daddy, it doesn’t seem the same without Dad Cole being here.”  He realized what he had said and quickly corrected himself, “I mean Uncle Cole.”

I thought to myself, ‘Wait until I tell Cole what just happened.’

To be continued...

Editor's Notes:  Well, for heaven's sake, who would have suspected that Autumn would die in a car accident?   I see that Cole didn't waste much time giving Doug what he needed and really wanted, whether Doug realized it or not.  If you really think about it, I believe that Doug had fallen in love with Cole a long time ago.  Of course, there was no way that Doug would have acted on his feelings for Cole, because he was an honourable husband and he did love Autumn. Did you notice what I said. Not only that, did you notice what I didn't say.  I didn't say that Doug was IN LOVE with Autumn.  The two of them, Doug and Autumn married each other because it was the right thing to do at the time.  They had planned to get married, and they would have done so eventually, but I honestly don't think they were ever truly in love with each other.  They did love each other and they both truly loved the children, all of them. And to top it off they were certainly enjoying each others company, in and out of bed.

Now, though, the true feelings that Doug and Cole have for each other can come to the fore, so to speak.  If you remember, Doug was always very interested in Cole's body I also know that Doug loved Cole.  I know too that Cole not only loved Doug, but was always in love with Doug.  It will be interesting to find out whether Doug is in love with Cole. If I had to place a wager, I would have to bet that Doug is or will be very soon.  Maybe we will find out for sure in the next chapter.  I think that Benji can see that he has two dads.  All he needs to do is convince the dads that they are right for each other, as a couple.
