Chapter 26

The Bigger Day

As I was driving back to Atlanta, my mind was in a complete whirl, ‘What in the world were the guys planning for the wedding.  I hope it’s nothing too drastic or my parents will probably be upset.  I mean, after all, they are rather traditional in their religious beliefs.’

When I pulled into my parking space, I was thinking that I was going to miss the glamour of the big city.  I went to my apartment and decided that I was mentally and physically exhausted since I was awakened by the dream this morning and got ready for bed.”

The events of the day must have overtaken me because the next thing I remember was that I was being awakened by a little boy.

‘Daddy get up.  Me, Mark, Matt and Mikey are hungry.  Daddy, where is Mommy?  Daddy, why is Uncle Cole licking your pee pee?’

I sat up wondering why am I having these strange dreams.  Who is me and who are the other people that me talks about and why would anyone be licking my penis, especially Cole?

I looked at the clock and it was six o’clock. I guess it was my sub consciousness telling me it was time to go exercise.

I drove to the gym thinking that I was going to miss exercising at the gym. I guess I’ll get a work out at Summerhill.

When I walked up to the desk, Clark was standing there.  “Sir, are you a member?  I don’t seem to remember seeing your name.  I guess you don’t come here very often.  I’ll let you in free, if you tell me you’re gonna hire me as your assistant.”

I saw Andre, “Hey Coach Andre, why don’t you help me teach this punk some manners.  You said you were going to spot for me.  I hope you didn’t wear a jock strap.  Let’s go have a good time while Clarkey baby is stuck behind the desk.”

If looks could kill, both Andre and I would be dead.

Andre and I both had good workouts and we were jogging on the track when Clark caught up to us, “Guys, please tell me you’re messing with my mind.”

I stopped and grabbed Clark and pushed him against the wall, “Listen, you punk, you started this mess.  You had better have your ass in Harwood on Monday morning at ten o’clock for your interview with President Harder and me.  I’m getting married at six o’clock on Saturday evening at Summerhill.  Why don’t you two plan to attend, so there will be someone there.”

Clark looked at me, “Dr. Christiansen, you just declared war.  I’ll be at Harwood Community College on Monday, but where is Summerhill?”

“It’s right next door to Fairacres.”

“Doug, you’re making no sense at all.”

I was having fun toying with Clark’s mind, “Since you claim to be from the Harwood area, I assume you know where the Nixon spread is?”

Clark looked at me, “Of course I know where the Nixons live.  Is that the Fairacres that you were talking about?”

“Yes, Autumn and I are going to be living at Summerhill, which is  adjacent to Fairacres now that we’ve bought the Morrison’s farm.”

Clark still wasn’t sure, “It’s rather early in the morning for you to have been drinking.  I think we might have to come to see what’s happening for ourselves.”

I nodded, “Good, the only stipulation is that you are to bring a baby gift for our son.”

Andre was confused, “How can you have a son when you’re not even married?  Are you saying that this is a wedding to atone for your past mistakes?”

“Nope, Autumn and I have never had sex.”

Both guys looked bewildered.  I explained the circumstances around the wedding and both guys started to laugh.  Clark was chuckling, “Heck, there is no way that we’re going to miss that shindig.  I’m surprised that Austin and Derek haven’t said anything.”

After breakfast, I started to pack my clothes and the things that I would be taking to Summerhill.  I decided to clean the apartment, in case someone would drop in.  I made sure that there were clean linens in the guest bedroom. I was just about finished when I realized that I had no idea when my parents were going to be arriving.  I had finished everything that I could think of when Austin and Derek stopped in.

Austin started, “Doug, can we start to bring things over so that we can have most everything in place when we get back from Fairacres on Sunday.  Just leave any food that you have and we’ll use it.”

“Guys, why do you have to be back on Sunday?”

Derek answered, “For starters, I have a job that starts on Monday, working with incoming students during the summer break, and secondly, Dean Williams has scheduled your replacement to attend a faculty meeting Monday morning at nine o’clock.  By the way, what time is Autumn due in?”

“She and Trevor are leaving at 4:30.  I’ve been instructed that I was to make sure they had something to eat.”

Our conversation was interrupted by the phone, “This is Doug Christiansen.”

“Doug, it’s your Mother.  What time is Autumn going to be arriving?”

“Mom, she and Trevor are scheduled to leave at 4:30.”

“Good, why don’t you meet us and the Summers, here at the Peachtree Inn at 6:30 for dinner.  Call Austin and Derek and tell them that they are expected to be here as well.”

“Mom, they’re standing here beside me at the present time.  I’ll make sure that they are there.  See you about 6:30.”

I hung up and turned to the guys, “We have had an executive command that we are to appear at the Peachtree Inn for dinner with Austin and Autumn’s parents and my parents.  Guys, I’ve done about everything that I can for now, around here.  Why don’t I help you move your things?  That will give me something to do to keep me busy until dinner time.

By the time we had all three cars loaded and unloaded, it was 5:30.  We were all very sweaty, and Austin and Derek went back to their apartment to take a shower and get dressed for dinner.  I did likewise and had just finished getting dressed when the buzzer to the apartment entrance sounded.  I pushed the lock release button and announced, “Beaming you up.”

I opened the apartment door and Trevor appeared, carrying his suitcase.  When Autumn walked in and saw all the boxes, she looked concerned, “Doug, are you bringing all these things to Summerhill?”

“I wasn’t planning to.  I don’t think Austin and Derek, would be happy if I took their things.  They’re trying to kick me out as soon as they can.”

Autumn looked around, “I can see why the guys would want to move here.  This is almost twice as big as their apartment.”

“We have a dinner date to meet our parents at the Peachtree Inn at 6:30.  Austin and Derek are going to meet us there.”

Autumn frowned, “Doug, I’m not dressed to go to the Peachtree Inn.  I can’t go in jeans.  I need to change.”

“Let’s go get your things and you can change in the guest bedroom while Trevor changes in mine.”

We arrived at the Peachtree Inn just before 6:30.  I was going to call my parents’ room but decided to check the lounge to see if they were there.  They were there, sitting with the Summers and Pearsons and two other sets of neighbors from Virginia.  We walked into the lounge, and I introduced Autumn and Trevor to everyone they hadn’t met before.

We had just ordered something to drink when Austin and Derek arrived.  I made the introductions again.  As we were finishing our drinks, I leaned over and whispered to Trevor, “You’re probably pretty bored with what’s happening?”

He grinned, “I’m having a great time listening to these people talking about you as if you might have been a brat just like me when you were growing up.”

My Dad announced, “We need to go.  We have reservations at 7:00 for dinner and I’m sure that Trevor must be starved if he is like most teenagers.  We’ll see the rest of you in the morning.  Have a good evening at the ball game.”

Trevor turned out to be the focal point for the dinner conversation.  The parents asked all sorts of questions about the wedding, but Trevor’s answers were very vague and didn’t reveal any of the plans.  He finally stopped the discussion by announcing, “We’ll probably have to pick Uncle Doug up off the floor when he gets the bills for our services.”

We were finishing our desserts when Trevor excused himself, “Pardon me, I’ll be right back.”

He left the dining room and when he returned, “That was Jeff calling.  He and his parents just picked up his brother and his fiancée at the airport.  I told him that we were here at the Peachtree and he’s going to meet us here since this is where his family is staying.”

My Dad asked, “Trevor, how big is this wedding going to be anyway?”

“Mr. Christiansen, we don’t honestly know, but we’re planning for between 150 and 175 people.”

Dad paid the bill and Longworth’s arrived.  I introduced Tom and Penny to everyone and Tom commented, “Doug, for a confirmed bachelor, you sure move fast when you make up your mind to do something.  I still don’t understand how you can have a son when you just met Autumn less than a month ago.”

“Tommy, our lives have been taken over by four teenagers.  We just do what we’re told to do anymore.”

“Doug, you ARE still planning to be my best man, aren’t you?”

“Of course, we may have a screaming infant with us when we come to your wedding, though.”

As we were leaving, I made a command decision, “Autumn, you can sleep in the spare bedroom in my apartment.  Trevor and Jeff can use my bedroom and I’ll sleep on the sofa bed in the living room.  We’ll see the rest of you tomorrow.”

When we got to the apartment, I got some bed linens from the closet, so I could make the sofa bed when everyone had gone to bed.  Everyone was tired so we didn’t visit long before we turned in.  I changed clothes in my bedroom with the two young guys watching me, and put on a pair of Bermuda shorts over my briefs and a tee shirt.  “I’ll see you guys in the morning.”

I left the bedroom and went to the sofa bed and lay down thinking that it had been a long day.  I was just about asleep when I heard, “Trev, I can’t take anymore in my mouth or I’ll gag.”

“That’s okay, Jeff.  Let me see how much of yours I can take.  It feels great, so just do what you can.  I guess we will need to practice to be able to do it right.  What would Uncle Doug think if he knew what we were doing?”

Jeff mumbled, “Stop talking and let’s take care of business.  We’ll worry about Uncle Doug later.”

I wasn’t particularly pleased by what was happening, but decided that this was not the time to intervene.

The next morning, I was awakened by my visitor, “Daddy, why are you sleeping on the sofa?  Daddy, why are Uncle Trevor and Uncle Jeff sleeping naked?  Daddy, it’s time to get up, me, Matt, Mark and Mikey are hungry.  Daddy, I need to go to school.”

I went into my bedroom and Trevor and Jeff were entwined.  I went into the bathroom and took a shower.  When I came out of the bathroom, the guys were looking a little sheepish.  Jeff asked, “Uncle Doug, you saw us naked and holding each other, didn’t you?”

I sat down on the bed, even though I was naked, “Guys, I know that you were performing fellatio last evening.  Before you do that again, you might want to make sure that the door is closed.”

Jeff asked, “What does that mean?”

Trevor looked as if he was about to cry, “I think Mr. Christiansen heard us giving each other blow jobs.  Right, sir?”

“Guys, I’m afraid I did.  All I ask is that you don’t go any further than that, until you are absolutely sure that is what you want.  I know that Jeff has a gay brother and I’m sure that he would give you the same advice.”

I got up and put on a pair a briefs and started to get some casual clothes on since it was going to be hot under the robe that I had to wear.  “Guys, I’ll go start breakfast while you take your shower.”

I knocked on Autumn’s door and told her that I was starting breakfast.

After we had eaten, it was nine o’clock and I needed to be at the Georgia Dome at nine thirty, so I could get dressed in my ridiculous cap and gown.  I couldn’t understand why the ceremony was being held in the Georgia Dome.  When I pulled into the parking lot, it was already starting to fill up.  I put on my gown and mortar board and we walked to the entrance.

We were carded so to speak and there were screening machines that we had to pass through.  Jeff looked at me and asked, “Uncle Doug, what’s going on?  It’s as if they are afraid that someone is going to kill someone.”

I looked at my people, “Guys, I have no idea what is happening.”

When we finally cleared the security check point area, I was directed one way and the other three went to find a seat.  I was ushered to an area where the people who were to receive their doctorate degrees were to meet.  We were informed that we were the first to be introduced after the commencement address.  We were informed that we were to take our assigned seats on the platform with the faculty members.

At about ten minutes before ten o ’clock we were directed to our seats in the stands.  I was amazed when we went to our assigned seats to see so many people in the stands.  It was difficult to see an empty seat.  The faculty filed onto the raised platform and when everyone was in place, the band started to play ‘Hail to the Chief’ and the chancellor came out with the President of the United States.

The chancellor went to the microphone, “Ladies and gentlemen, it gives me great pleasure to introduce the President of this great country to you.  Please welcome President Osage.”

The President gave a very inspiring speech, asking that all people show patience in this time of stress.  He suggested that if we stuck together we would come out of the current crisis as a much stronger nation.

I assumed that he would leave after he had completed his address, but he stayed and handed each of the graduates their diplomas.  When my name was called, I went to receive my diploma, he shook my hand, “Doug, congratulations, I know that your family is very proud of you.  I understand that you are getting married this afternoon.  Be good to your young son.”

I was so stunned that all I could say was, “Thank you, sir.”

When I sat down in my assigned chair, the young lady beside me asked, “What was the President talking to you about?  He just shook my hand.”

After the ceremony, I was walking to the car, carrying my diploma and gown when Austin caught up to me, “What did he President say to you?  He didn’t talk to anyone else.  Do you know him from somewhere?”

“Austin, look at me.  I’m a farm boy from Virginia.  How would I know him?  We need to get my things out of the apartment so you and Derek can assume occupancy when you get back tomorrow.  We’ll meet you at the apartment as soon as everyone gets here.”

We loaded the three vehicles with my things and made our way back to Summerhill.  When we exited the vehicles, it was as if we were at a circus.  There was a humongous canopy in the yard with who knows how many chairs under it.  Not only that, there was an electric keyboard on the raised platform and a buffet table and a bar off to the side.

We were met by Cole and Trent.  Cole started, “Ms. Autumn and Mr. Doug, you need to get lost until it’s time for the wedding.  Mr. Doug.,  your aqua outfit is ready for you.  Here, take my truck to Mr. Willingham’s and don’t return until we call you.  Miss Autumn, you need to go rest.  It’s going to be a long evening.  We have a lot to do between now and six o’clock and we don’t need you to be in our way.  Mr. Austin and Mr. Derek, we need your help.”

To be continued...

Editor's Notes:  I wonder how many more chapters it will take before we actually get to the wedding.  I have been told that it will be in the next chapter.  We will just have to wait and see.  I wonder who keeps talking to Doug in his sleep and waking him up. I want more chapters, and I want them soon!
