Chapter 32
The Day before Easter

Saturday morning, Jason came in and asked, “Where’s Beau?  Is something wrong?”

I pulled him on top of me and kissed him on the cheek and said, “He’s sleeping in the family room with his new boy friend.”

Before long there were three sets of feet going down the stairs.  Beau was lying with his arms around Casey.  Jason recognized Casey and shook him and pulled him away from Beau.  Danny crawled beside Beau who said, “Get away from me Danny.”

Jeff and I showered and Jeff fixed breakfast while the five guys took a joint shower in our bathroom.  They left the area sparkling.  They came down and delivered coffee to our Peoria guests.

Everyone assembled in the dining room and Beau made sure everyone was properly introduced.  We ate and the guys did the dishes.  We all assembled since everyone had decided to go to choir rehearsal, even Grandma Ginny.

When we arrived, there were some people that I had never seen or met.  Beau looked around and said, “Wait, Roger and his friend are missing.”  Rog was coming in the back with a young lady.

“Sorry we’re a little late, but my car isn’t feeling too well.  Everyone, this is Bonnie.”

Jeff spoke up and said, “Let’s get started.  Mickey and Chris, you guys will be on the piano.  Adam, go to the organ.  I will join you in just a minute.”  He handed the guys a notebook as they were leaving. “Beau, you go stand in the corner.”

Kenny and Denny get your guitars and line up first. Now I want the five year olds followed by the six and seven year olds and so on.  Make sure that you are two to a row and everyone take a folder.  When everyone was lined up there were more than fifty people in the choir.

Jeff turned to Beau and said, “Beau, it is your job to get the congregation’s attention after the Bishop and Father Gilbert are seated.  You need to get them excited and to get them to participate in the processional hymn as the choir comes in.”

Everyone was in their place then Jeff said, “Okay Mickey and Chris, follow Adam and me.”  The guys played a medley of Easter hymns and Jeff stood and said, “Beau, the Bishop and Father Gilbert are seated.  Now it’s your time to make your grand entrance.”

Beau came running down the aisle and stopped in front of an imaginary Bishop and Father and said, “Sirs, there is a big bunch of pesky young people singing in the street.  They don’t sound so good, so we need to get the congregation to stand up and help them.”

Beau turned to an imaginary congregation and motioned for them to stand and the organ and the piano played the introduction to Christ the Lord is Risen Today.  Kenny and Denny lead the choir to the front and they took their place in the pews.

When it came time for the Offertory the choir sang Come. See the Place Where Jesus Lay.  It was then time for the choir’s anthem and they sang The Bells of Easter and then for the recessional, they sang This Is the Day the Lord Hath Made, as they walked out following Kenny and Denny.

Jeff stood and said, “You people will be absolutely superb tomorrow.  Everyone needs to be here no later than 6:30.  The swim party will be at 2:00.  Does anyone have any questions?”

Carole Anne jumped in and asked, “You mean that is all of the practicing we are going to do?”

Jeff said, “I figure if we did much more, everyone would be bored.”

Beau said, “And what are you trying to do to me, get me strung up by my toes?”

Everyone laughed and Drew said, “We figured the congregation would put you on the first train out of town.”

Mrs. T stopped anymore banter and announced, “Everyone needs to stop at the back and get your costumes for tomorrow.  Everyone needs to wear a white shirt or blouse with neutral slacks or skirts and nice shoes.  No sneakers please.”

Beau interjected. “Yeah, only Grams is allowed to wear sneakers to church.”

Mrs. T. had three people at the back handing out white sweaters with a small fish symbol on them.  She had plenty of sweaters and said, “We’ll save the rest of these sweaters for when we get some more singers.”

Jeff asked, “Mickey and Chris, could you stay for a while so we can smooth out the interplay between the organ and the piano?  I'll see the rest of you in the morning.  Dad, you and Casey need to get your hair styled, and we need to get shoes for Casey and Danny.”

Everyone cleared out and the Peoria people along with Jason got ready to go to the Edmond’s house for lunch.  Casey, Danny and I went and had our hair styled.  When we got home, the guys were all there and Tommy and Beau were fixing lunch.  They served us all a club sandwich and a drink.

After the dishes were done, Jeff took Casey, Danny and Beau in my car to get the guys shoes and few other necessities, including bikini briefs, swim suits and socks.  Jeff included a pair of jeans and sweat shirts for the two new guys. Of course, all of the boys needed white shirts.  They came home and the guys were doing the laundry when the phone rang.  Jeff answered and said, “We’re what? … The Peoria people want to take us all to the club for dinner? … Okay, I’ll tell everyone.  See you at 6:30.”

Jeff told us what was happening and Beau rebelled.  “Jeff, Jason and I don’t have enough clothes for Casey and Danny and us for that many changes. Dad, let’s go shopping.”

Away we went and helped the Fremont economy greatly.  We stopped on the way home and picked up the corsages that had been ordered.  Tommy had arranged for his three corsages to be delivered.  We delivered Gigi’s, Grams’ and Aunt Cora’s corsages on the way home.

The Peoria people returned from the Edmonds.  The three older people were tired and decided to rest before they went to the club.  Rea was helping the guys with the laundry and visiting with them.

When we got to the club, we were directed to a private party room.  We were getting settled when Dylan and Carole Anne came in with two older couples.  Dylan said, “I just wanted to introduce my parents and grandparents.  He introduced his grandparents as Mr. and Mrs. William Morison and introduced his parents as Mr. and Mrs. Bill Morrison.  Beau and Jeff got up and shook hands with them.  Beau, however, stopped and visited with Grandma Morrison and hugged her and gave her a kiss before formally welcoming the younger Morrison’s.  Jeff did almost the same thing.

Beau hugged Dylan and then went to C.A. and asked, “So C. A., where are your parents tonight?”

Carole Anne looked at him and answered, “Oh, they are on the cruise ship waiting to enter the Panama Canal at sunrise tomorrow.”

“Cool, if you send an email, tell the Senator and your mother I said hello.”  Beau said.  I watched the Morrison’s and they had funny looks on their faces especially Dylan's parents.  Dylan’s grandmother had a twinkle in her eye.

We had a buffet with Mitch as the head server.  It was a nice light but filling meal.  As Beau was going through the line, he asked so that everyone could here. “Mitchell, so what is Barbee doing while you are working?”

“She went home to get some neutral slacks and shoes as directed.  She and Bethanne are spending the night at the Swenson’s house and Grant is going to have the ladies and his brothers here by 6:30.”

Dinner was uneventful but when we were leaving, Jeff and Beau spotted the Robinsons with the Smiths.  They went over and hugged the Robinsons but Beau continued around the table.

Carole came up to me and started to laugh, “Doctor Wilson, do your weird sons know everyone?”

“No, but that table just happens to have Jeff's Grandparents, his mother and step father and his three half brothers.  The young lady is my niece, Dana.”

We finally got home and Beau and Danny changed clothes and came down and were working in the kitchen.  Beau came in and kissed everyone goodnight and announced, “Danny and I will sleep in the family room and Casey and Jason will sleep in the study.  Danny and I will secure the house and go to bed as soon as breakfast is ready.  See everyone in the morning.”
